Colombier Vins Fins Ltd. Elegant Fine Wine H. This wine is still tightly wound, not expressing much, especially in the first hour. Layers of tobacco, cedar and blackberries have wrapped themselves around firm tannins. There is potential here, but the wine needs more time - another years of aging in bottle. A gorgeous La Mission that is fully mature and at its peak now. Lovely cedarbox, aged cigar and dried blackberries. There is sweetness on the mid palate with supple, silky tannins and a long finish.

This wine is a wonderful surprise - impressed with its vigor and layers of complex, nuanced flavors. Spicy and exuberant, La Mission in is flamboyant and expressive. An impressive wine that has great concentration and will be one of the vintages that ages well for many decades. Jancis Robinson Score and tasting note available to Pro Version users only.
This seductive wine tasted blind reminded me of an opulent right bank wine but the structure quickly led me back to the left. Spicy, sweet, generous with fine-grained tannins and a long finish. A gorgeous wine that is as good as the Haut-Brion in this vintage. Elegantly mature with dried tobacco leaves, pu'er tea and earthy flavors.
This vintage has matured into a lovely, elegant wine that still has layered, savory flavors to offer those who enjoy older wines. A beautiful La Mission that is focused and pure with lifted flavors of cassis, plum, violets and cedar. Tannins are supple and there are layers of flavors that range from floral notes to spices, all lifted by fresh acidity.

A wine that will be approachable fairly young - from onwards. A gorgeous La Mission that is showing it full colorful side and is at its peak now. Beautiful spices and herbs with aged cigar notes in the finish. Tannins are supple and smooth with a seamless character. A powerful, delicious, evolved wine that is showing an explosion of cedar box, tobacco and perserved blackberry notes. Tannins are firm, supporting the flavors and providing a youthful backbone. Surprisingly intense, given is not a powerful vintage.
A seductive wine with sweet dried violets and alluring spices. The palate is silky and intense with layered flavours that range from aged cigars to dried Chinese red dates. A phenomenal wine with a lingering finish.

This is a structured, savoury La Mission with blackberry fruits and dark spices. The tannins are chewy and quite elevated - not as polished and supple as in previous vintages. Where more than 24 Critics scores exist, only the first 24 are displayed. For completeness we may include critic scores in our aggregation that we do not display. Very Good Vintage. From the same Austrian cellar as the Still fresh and fruity but lacking power. Lots of earth, tobacco and red fruits. A nice experience nevertheless. From a deep Austrian cellar where the bottle had lain for 48 years.
Still some tannic bite but married to wonderful ripe lush red fruit, a hint of lavender, forest earth, liquorice, and, cinnamon. If only all wine could be cellared as well as this. Notes of high intensity of black fruits, pencil shaving, casis, floral with full body, medium acidity and high alcohol, well balanced and impressive. Why Bother Rating the First Growths? Even vintage variation can't sway critics from giving surprisingly consistent scores for big-name wines. The Prince of Haut-Brion Prince Robert of Luxembourg took over the family wine business after traveling the world, and enjoying a stint as a screenwriter.
