Strolling the Ramparts This summer the restored ramparts walk was opened to the public after seven years of work at a cost of one million dollars. The restorations included paving the ramparts with non-dressed Jerusalem stone to insulate the walls against water, repairing the shooting slots in the walls which riflemen and scouts had damaged quite badly over the years, and installing four kilometers of special wrought- iron rails for safe walking.
