How does one come out of the tremendous pain of losing a loveone and find away to rebuild their life. Erik Lacrosse and Michelle Carter were both coming from that place. Michelle was strong she knew that all she learned in growing up in a rough neigborhood were tools to be utilized in making her way in the world. While coming from a world of wealth and elitism. Erik was a father who through himself into his work to ease the pain of his lost. Here is where their two worlds collide. I loved how Ms Ross tells this story of family, love and the deep need to trust someone with that love.
This read was beautifully told intense, passionate, erotic. What was really poignant about this read is that Erik in all is angst about his feeling of mistrust towards Michelle. Her unconditional love for him and his daughter Precious. Made his love for her richer and deeper than he ever loved his deceased wife.

There were so many unrealistic things, and the two main characters don't seem ready to be in a relationship, let alone secretly married. The fact that they both want to keep the marriage a secret is your first clue. And they both keep a "friend" nearby who totally wants them, but who they will never love. Talk about being a tease and leading someone on. Michelle lies to get out of having difficult conversations, and Where to start?
Michelle lies to get out of having difficult conversations, and lets Erik walk all over her and use her however he likes. But I still liked her better than I liked him. He's a terrible father before she comes along. He's still not over his first wife, and is harboring a ton of guilt over it. He's very judgmental about her background, and how "uncouth" she is. He is so out of touch with his feelings, and constantly ignores them to the detriment of his life. He's got some pretty weird sexual hang ups.
He won't say he loves her, but is totally willing to marry her so he can enjoy the benefits without feeling guilty. I couldn't stand him. The only character I really liked was Precious except for her name, ugh. Since this is a romance novel, you know they have to break up and then get back together in the end.
I found this whole section hard to read; both the breakup and the getting back together felt fast and forced. Not much else to say about the book. I'm glad I got it for free. But what's up with the cover? Isn't Michelle supposed to be black? She just looks like she's got a tan. Apr 29, Tina Baker rated it did not like it Recommends it for: Read at your own risk. I am so glad that I didn't pay for this book.
It is horribly written. I can get past the typos and incorrect usage of punctuation. I can't get past what the author thinks makes up a good romance novel. In one particular scene Erik and Michelle have been out on a lovely dinner, they are leaving, the valets pull the car up to the front of the restaurant.
Erik leans Michelle against the car, unbuttons her dress, and does everything but have se Arrggg Erik leans Michelle against the car, unbuttons her dress, and does everything but have sex with her right then and there. In full view of anyone looking.
Then later in the novel when the typical break up is happening Erik essentially forces himself on Michelle and she thinks it is okay because he needs an outlet for his pain. Then after putting Michelle through all of the pain of the break up, annulment, and forcing her out of his life he finds out she's pregnant, rushes to her side, and after a two minute discussion she takes him back. This just disgusts me. It makes Michelle look weak and desperate and with no self-esteem whatsoever. Either that or she is just so desperate for attention and money that she will stay with a man who walks all over her and treats her as worthless.
I wish I could give this a negative review but what I really wish is that this had never been written or that there was a better editor on this project that would not have let it go to press as is. Feb 26, Didichan rated it it was ok. This could have easily been a 5 star review. But I was a bit disappointed. The book is about Dr.
Erik LaCrosse who's wife Cassie has been killed by a drunk driver, at the time they had a 5 year old daughter Precious. Two years into the future Precious needs a new nanny. Michelle Carter is down on her luck, her drunken father has stolen all of her money and disappeared.
She needs a job fast. She becomes Precious's new nanny. Their is immediate sexual chemistry between Dr. Erik LaCrosse and Michel This could have easily been a 5 star review. Erik LaCrosse and Michelle. The entire story centers around Cassie and Erik's past courtship and marriage. Even the few romantic loving making scenes between Erik and Michelle Cassie is mentioned, it feels like someone just through buckets of Ice Water on what could have been a very HOT Lovemaking scene in the book.
No matter what came up with the other characters in the story Cassie was their too.
Their are some wonderful, rich characters in the story, but their is always Cassie. I wish Ana Ross had did more to build the story and romantic love relationship just between Erik and Michelle. It became impossible to believe Erik loved Michelle, she was always compared to Cassie in everything. Erik was a real butt head and didn't treat Michelle fairly. Michelle should have kicked him to curve and let him stay their. She forgave him to quickly, but she loved Precious as her own, so for that I can understand. Precious is written beautifully. I fell in love with this little girl myself. I really wish the story was just centered around Erik Michelle and Precious and not Cassie.
To explain how she dead and brief description of her relationship with Erik and Precious would have been enough. Ross did a fantastic job spinning this tale. Strong characters and endearing scenes that makes you laugh, cry, smile and even holla'. Precious, Michelle's ward just a hoot! Michelle, so strong and dedicated to everyone! Erik no words to describe him but "all male". Mrs' Hayes' character was one of mystery to me as though you was a fairy godmother. I loved it and recommend it! View all 5 comments. Jan 14, Lisa rated it it was amazing Shelves: A really good read! I wanted to love this book. It appeared to have it all, a likable heroine, a handsome and wealthy hero, and motherless child. If the author would have kept it that simple, it would have been better. The back story of the main characters became a far-fetched and convoluted mess.
It read like a soap opera. I'll admit, crude and crass euphemisms for sex and sexual organs aren't for everybody.
Then again, using correct medical terminology during an intense love scene isn't exactly I wanted to love this book. Then again, using correct medical terminology during an intense love scene isn't exactly the way to go either. The inevitable conflict was no surprise but the character's responses to it were unexpected.
All in all, it wasn't horrible, but I would only recommend it to young women who were into overly dramatic and drawn out romances. If you're a mature reader, move on. Dec 04, Tiffanie rated it really liked it Shelves: This book was amazing I just couldn't put it down. It took me through so many emotions that sometimes I wanted to scream but to me that's what makes a great read. Something you can get lost in that just pulls you into the story until the very end.
I can't wait for the other books in the series to drop. If you haven't guessed already, strongly recommend this book. Jan 21, Kim rated it really liked it. My first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between Erik and Michelle was off the charts.
They had a cute tit for tat relationship in the beginning which was pretty comical at times. Once they got down to their true feelings for one another the pages of this book were on fire. Looking forward to reading book 2. Oct 20, KBeautiful1 rated it it was amazing.
Soooo I have had this book on my Kindle for years, sad but true and this is why I made an active commitment to read the books I already own. Yes I still 1-click every now and then but its only for the authors I read religiously. But this book was a real hidden gem on my e-reader. Michelle Carter is a college graduate who had everything going for her until her drunken father stole her debit card, cleaned out her bank account, she lost her job due to layoffs and would have been homeless if not for Soooo I have had this book on my Kindle for years, sad but true and this is why I made an active commitment to read the books I already own.
Michelle Carter is a college graduate who had everything going for her until her drunken father stole her debit card, cleaned out her bank account, she lost her job due to layoffs and would have been homeless if not for her brother and her best friend. Now she desperately needs a job because she is tired of the temping and wondering about whether she is going to have a job the next day. So when she signs up with a nanny agency she had no idea that her life was literally about to change and unbeknownst to her she had her very own fairy godmother to open up the door for her.
Erik LaCrosse is a widower and a father, his last nanny fell in love and got married. Now his daughter is miserable and he doesn't know what to do because the last few nanny's he had sent over to see if they will be good for his daughter, she rejected them. Now at his wit's end the agency sends over another but to his dismay and pleasure, a woman is walking up his path and she doesn't look like Nanny McPhee LOL!!! The last thing Erik wants or needs is to be tempted, so he tell his friend and confidant of his home Mrs. Hayes to send her away but Erik didn't realize that Mrs.
Hayes was the one to set the whole thing up. Erik had no idea that this woman was going to turn his world literally upside down and his daughter is madly in love with her, so what is he supposed to do? Michelle Carter knows she doesn't have the pedigree that Erik comes from but she is a great and loving person, who loves his daughter Precious and over time falls for him.
But secrets from both of their pasts could destroy everything. Can they trust the other with their deepest pains and heartaches to come out on the other side victorious with each other. This is my second book by author Ana E. Ross and I really enjoyed it. I love the whole dynamic between Erik, Michelle and Precious, they were a family and didn't even realize it fully until their world was threatened and broke apart. A wonderful story with an equally wonderful ending.

Well Until My Next Review May 25, Silverana rated it really liked it Shelves: Good writing and a good set up of initial meeting between Michelle and Erik. I liked reading about a female character who was almost completely broke in the beginning and hurt both emotionally and physically as a child and in later years. I did not see it coming. It was sweet how Michelle g Good writing and a good set up of initial meeting between Michelle and Erik.
It was sweet how Michelle got emotional so easily whenever she saw someone else hurting. Erik was also a good hero. He has been through so much in relation to the death of his wife. There is regret, loneliness, and guilt. He not only lost his wife but his best friend with whom he does not speak with anymore. He tries to guard his feelings so much but ends up having such strong feelings for another woman in his life.
Some of the parts of the story were painful as it often is with death and some of the what-ifs that come with it. There is a side story of a love triangle which I hate reading about but it was a little different and interesting. I wanted to figure out what was going on.
The book at times touches upon old fashioned practices regarding intimacy and I was glad that was included since nowadays it seems that people can just have all kinds of relationships with anybody. There were just a few things for which I could not give the book a full 5 star rating: I think the main reason for me not giving a 5 is this one.
Would you like us to take another look at this review? The building of the relationship between our two main characters was enough to keep me interested in this read. He hires Michelle a young beautiful woman who is as taken with his daughter as she is with her instantly. Initially meeting with him for the job of being the potential nanny to his little girl Precious, Michelle finds herself swept away by the passionate billionaire as they partake in hidden romance. She just looks like she's got a tan. It definitely captured the realistic narrative of an educated woman who was just down on her luck and unknowingly captured the opportunity of a lifetime. Michelle grew up on the wrong side of the tracks basically, while Erik always had a silver spoon in his mouth.
The book does a great job of showing how if you really love someone, you can forgive so much and welcome them back. Love was definitely portrayed so well in the beginning and a large part of the middle. But this story has that common scenario in which there are misunderstandings that keep the H and h apart for way too long. In this case, both characters are seen with their exes or people vying for their attention which obviously will give the wrong impression. Not only that, one of the characters could have asked a blood relative for help but chose to do the most obvious, sure to cause a conflict act, by asking help from someone from their past.
Sometimes as a reader of romance with these types of situations I am left feeling like I was not given enough details. Overall, it was a good story that definitely seemed real. For picky and holders of extreme notions about love type of people like me, this almost made me think less firmly about mistakes made in love. It pushed me to get over what is lost and think of what we can have! Aug 26, Dorothy Gagnon rated it it was amazing. Michelle and her brother, Robert were left on their own when their mother died.
Abandoned by their drunken dad, Robert not only took care of Michelle, but managed to become a Dentist with a successful practice. They survived and grew up with the help of their mom's friend, Mrs.
Michelle was a compassionate, kind and giving person, earned a college degree, moved away and got a fantastic job. Her dad returned and in need of a place to stay. She helped, but only to have her worthless dad steal all her money, credit cards, and much more. She also lost her job during the economic crisis and had to go back to her hometown penniless to search for a job. She still managed to contribute her spare time and any money she could scrape together to help children in the same situation as they were left.
Eric, a wealthy widower that lost his wife in an accident caused by a drunken driver, was in a search of a nanny for his 7 year-old daughter, to replace the last one who moved. Michelle applied for this position and tried to talk Eric into hiring her to utilize her great experience working with children. He had reservations because of her age and her gorgeous body, and the sensual feelings towards her that he hasn't had since the death of his wife. Then he was informed and highly recommended by his housekeeper Mrs.
Hayes to hire her because she knew Michelle.
Also because his daughter took to her right away and he heard his daughter laugh for the first time in two years. A passionate romance bloomed quickly, and though Eric fell hard for Michelle, he wanted to find his wife's murderer before he committed to her. Solving this mystery while holding back on anyone knowing they fell in love, brought a tremendous and tough challenge to both of them. At first Michelle didn't tell Eric her father was a drunk given the nature of his wife's death because she knew that it could not be him, as he left town before the accident occurred.
Happiness, sorrow, and unexpected circumstances arise, and keeps you sitting on the edge of your chair waiting to see how everything can work out. Nov 30, Heather Miller rated it really liked it. I haven't read any other books by this author, this book was enjoyable.
But fall, he does, and so hard, he secretly marries the alluring nanny from the wrong side of the tracks. However, when he unearths a disturbing secret from Michelle's past, Erik must choose between his loyalty to a dead woman and the love burning in his heart for one who is very much alive.
