He begs me to read it every night! Two of his favorite things are hockey and dinosaurs.
I love how this book combined both of these. I randomly came upon it on amazon and boy am I happy I did! Along the way we are teaching him about hockey. The pictures are captivating and the flow of the text is easy and fun.
We have had the book for about 6 months now. The pages have held up well for all of the use it has gotten.
We took the book jacket off of it as it was too annoying to keep on but the cover is printed on the hard cover as well so they jacket isn't necessary. Great gift for 6 year old hockey player who loves Dinos. I have an 8-year-old son who loves this whole line of dinosaur sports books by Lisa Wheeler. I know he and his friends continuously check them out from the library.
It is a rhyming book and works through all aspects of the game. It is one dinosaur group against another. This is the cutest book ever! This is the rhyming story of a hockey game between the Carnivores and Veggisaurs. Basically this book combines my kids two favorite things, Hockey and Dinosaurs!
For one cent, I am a million percent satisfied. I like that it teaches dinosaur names and hockey terms and that it's wonderfully illustrated. I think that over Christmas when my nephew recieved the book I was forced to read it more than 5 times. And, unlike many books, their attention didn't wander to something else during the story leaving me to finish reading on my own.

Love how the teams are always the vegetarians versus the meat eaters. Great to teach this distinction about dinosaurs. This time the teams battle for the hockey championship. I'm impressed with the rhyming couplets throughout the book. Sometimes that format is awkward as authors try to force rhymes or invert sentence structure to make things work, but Ms.
Wheeler did an admirable job of making the text flow naturally. The illustrations have character and fun details. Dinosaurs playing ice hockey is definitely a unique take on the animal-sports theme. The author incorporates educational elements about the different dinosaur species. Written in simple language with alliteration and rhyming kids will enjoy the flow of the text. Brightly colored illustrations depicting the hockey playing finis are done very well.

This is a fun book to read. The illustration isn't superb so it is kind of hard to tell what some dinosaurs are, but you can tell what which dinosaur is which by the name on their jersey. The author knows hockey well and the pictures are flawlessly beautiful. My son and I had fun exploring the pictures and studying all the dinosaurs.
