This book is the first in the Operation Mayhem series and ends in an HEA for the 2 main characters, but the plot continues. This book is the first in the series, yet a lot must have happened in a previous series. Reaper is a genetically enhanced super soldier that was tricked into joining the program. Now his life is dependent upon an evil doctor and a power hungry general. Caroline is kidnapped and her blood is being drained against her will. A little backstory would have been appreciated. Without the serum Reaper and his team will die. He discovers Caroline, knows who she is and decides to save her.

Reaper is all soldier and there are some light moments when he realizes Caroline may be bothered by all of the carnage surrounding her escape.

The descriptions are vivid, causing a lot of suspense. Reaper really struggles with his reality and his feelings with Caroline, which is awesome.

I am giving the book 4 stars. I loved how the tables turned and Caroline had to save Reaper. Jul 20, Kristen Johnson rated it really liked it. Mayhem's Warrior is book one in the Operation Mayhem series - but there's a bit of overlap with previous series by this same author. Reaper is a soldier, he's been alone except for his team of soldiers, so when he volunteers them for a research endeavor, he has no idea what he's getting into, nor what he and his team will face.

To say he feels major guilt over what they go through and still face because of the project is not enough. Reaper's current mission is to save Caroline and deliver the serum that keeps them alive to his team. But feelings are developing and chemistry is sparking between Caroline and Reaper. What will Reaper ulitmately choose - Caroline or his loyalty to his team? Mayhem's Warrior was full of twists and turns, an action packed adventure that was woven with a developing love story that left me panting for more. Reaper's guilt was palpable and you could feel how much his team meant to him and how he wished he hadn't gotten them involved in the project.

His torn feelings about Caroline also added a lot of impact to the story. Linsday Cross delivered a story that kept the hits coming, but also showed a deep connection between not just Reaper and Caroline but Reaper and his team. She wrote a story that hooked me from the start and left me rooting for the good guys, while working through evyerthing they endured. It was captivating to see how it all played out. Caroline has no idea what has been going on in the outside world, she has no idea if her dad is dead or alive. There are some secondary characters in this book that I would love to read about so I hope Ms Cross intends on writing their stories There is a Dr mentioned in this book that I would love to read more about Can Caroline understand why Reaper needs her blood so much or will it be the one thing that ends them? Caroline and Reaper are a match made in heaven… I was given a copy of this book and in return I will give a fair and just review I enjoyed finding out more about Reaper and his team, how they became what they are and enjoyed finding out that Caroline is saved BUT there were some issues I had that made me wonder… What I liked: Do I want to read more of the series?

Mayhem Warrior is a rollercoaster ride of testosterone driven evil generals, power hungry doctors, and two innocent victims trying to survive Cross has taken T. K Reaper and Carolyn and written a story worthy of them both. Two innocents let down or lied to by the system they trusted or people they loved.

Reaper his honor and goodness destroyed because he let his team down. A man that believed in the system that he protected with his life thinking he was doing righ Lindsay Cross has done it again. A man that believed in the system that he protected with his life thinking he was doing right by making his team stronger and better. Carolyn abducted and imprisoned for years used as a guinea pig for her blood in medical experiments. Character development and story lines could not have been any better.

This book was written with such impeccable detail and true love for these characters that I could not put it down. With the horror of their pasts Reaper and Carolyn could have been unemotional, uptight robots but Cross wrote them with humor and survivors instinct. Each only half a person because they lost so much but together they become an unbreakable unit.

The back story and secondary characters played a very strong part in Reaper and Carolyn's story as it progressed. The emotional attachment I felt to both characters shocked the hell out of me and made me appreciate their HEA ending so much more. The Mayhem series deserves loyal readers as much as the Men of Mercy series. I cannot wait for the next installment Jul 14, Diane rated it it was amazing. It's an action-packed roller coaster ride through a waking nightmare for Captain T. I was totally impressed with the survival skills of our emotionally tortured hero and the realistically detailed blood-and-guts scenario that put me right in the middle of the action, but I was even more impressed by the emotional human factor of the story that grabbed me by the heart and wouldn't let me go.

Caroline's remarkable ability to lock the nightmare of her captivity in a box in her mind leaves her clearheaded enough to actively participate in their escape which elevates her character to superhero status in my estimation. She also confesses her absolute faith in Reaper and his moral integrity at a highly critical point in the story when he has totally lost faith in himself as a man. What an amazing adventure!

I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own. Still the same action, adventure and romance but our heroes this time around have been experimented on and their DNA "tweaked", giving them all a few little added extra gifts.

His men are dying from these experiments and when they finally break free they now need a new source of serum to prevent them from reaching me A new series which branched off from the original Mercy books and what a great read! Whilst on the hunt for Grenier and the serum, Reaper finds Caroline and rescues her from the pits of experimentation.

She has been slowly bled for her blood to be used in synthesising the serum. On their break out attempt Reaper gets injured and for the first time ever someone is taking care of him for a change! Caroline may be a bit of a princess and her previous entitled existence is now a distant memory. Led to safety by Reaper, she quickly realises there is more to the giant warrior and falls under his spell. As they evade Grenier the passion ignites between them and there are some very hot scenes!

Great start to a new series and can't wait to see what the dastardly Grenier gets upto next - talk about Machiavellian plans!!! Jul 19, Shelley rated it it was amazing. Captain Reaper is the head of a military team that falls under "other" in the military branches. He leads his team to volunteer to testing, to make them super soldiers. He isn't told they will be altering his team's DNA, they will be dependant on a serum to live, some could die and that their free will is going to be taken from them, making them mindless killing machines.

Caroline was goin Filled with action and thrills from cover to cover with an alpha military man as only Lindsay Cross delivers. Caroline was going to be married and backed out of the wedding at the last minute. Her ex-fiance turns out to be involved in project Mayhem and her blood is the key to the serum he needs. He kidnaps her to get what he wants. Now that Reaper and his men have escaped, Reaper goes back to free Caroline, as she is their only hope at survival. In their days of life threatening travel to escape, they build a bond.

Jul 20, Pat rated it it was amazing. Reaper only has one mission - get more serum for his men so that they do not die. As he attempts to get the serum he discovers the whereabouts of Caroline the host by which the serum is made. Reaper decides that he is rescuing her from her captivity, but it is only because he can use her blood to make more serum. Imagine his surprise when he starts to care for her. That throws a huge wrench into his plans. Add to this, that despite the horrible conditions of her captivity, Caroline is a strong and fearless woman and you have one great story!

Will they even survive? Once again this author gives us an exciting, intense and emotional read. It is a dark romantic suspense story that will keep you interested from start to finish. Plus, if you have read the series this is where you finally find out all the delicious details about where Caroline has been all of this time. It's simply not to be missed! It is a well-written and very complex story that will be very hard to put down.

If you haven't read any other books, have no worries. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend to understand all parts of the ongoing conflict to read the previous books. A man who believes he has no soul and lives just to find the key to his teams survival. A woman who is the key to his survival. When Reaper learns of Caroline's location he'll stop at nothing to rescue her. But is he only rescuing her to doom her to the same fate as his enemies? After all the key to fixing him and his team is in Caroline's blood.

When she's finally rescued she never expected to fall for her hero. With him behind her, she could conquer the world. Will Reaper allow himself the chance to see a future beyond ensuring his teams survival? While this reads fine with the background information given reading the crossover book from the Men of Mercy Series, Mercy and Mayhem would enhance the enjoyment of this book. Cross for pairing these two together. Carolina understands Reaper in a way that Mayhem's Warrior Operation Mayhem 1 by Lindsay Cross is really the second book in the series.

Carolina understands Reaper in a way that others could not. Their story is one of rescue, danger, survival, loyalty then finding the capability to love and be loved. There is a balance between the thrilling action and passionate love that goes well with the science fiction aspect of the warrior enhancement serum.

I enjoy this new series, the hard to believe parts, the bordering superhero characters and the direction of the story-line. Fans of their will love this new series by Lindsay Cross just like I do.

Adventure, Action, and Emotion! This is my first Lindsay Cross book and wow, I am blown away. The action is almost instantaneous and unrelenting. The plot is intriguing, suspenseful, and compelling. The characters are the driving force in this book. Reaper is former special forces. However, he and his team have been changed by "Project Mayhem", yet the Warrior still remains.

He is a trained killer, but at his core he is still a defender and protector of the innocent. Caroline Cotter was kidnapped Adventure, Action, and Emotion! Caroline Cotter was kidnapped and she has no idea why? She is a senator's daughter, but why was she poked and prodded by the evil Dr. Rescued by Reaper, Caroline is confused and grateful. The connection and attraction between her and Reaper is a force unlike anything they have experienced.

Lindsay Cross is back finally letting us know whatever happened to the Senator's daughter, Caroline. Have to say though didn't expect a man like Captain T. Reaper in this book. Right of the bat he just seemed to serious for me but once we see his story it all makes sense. His whole life has been centered on making sure his men survive what happened to them including him.

Of all the stuff he has seen he didn't expect a woman like Caroline Cotter. Now here is a woman who in all sense has no idea Lindsay Cross is back finally letting us know whatever happened to the Senator's daughter, Caroline. Now here is a woman who in all sense has no idea what really happened to her just one minute she was having fun and the next she is fighting for her life.

The attraction between them in a way completes them. This series just gets better and better each man makes his own life with us seeing them struggle. Not only that but Lindsay Cross has them fighting for the one thing they never thought of having in their lives, love. I was not compensated for this review: Lindsay Cross does a very good job mixing a romance into a military ops story.

This continues where Mercy and Mayhem ended. Lindsay Cross's books all stand alone but are a part of an ongoing series and will refer back to characters from previous books. This book is the story of Captain Reaper and his search for justice, vengeance and survival for himself and his team. The key to this is finding Caroline Cotter, the senator's daughter. She has been taken by General Rainier to be used for experiments on her blood and that blood has the ability to save not only Reaper but his team as well.

I have given you the premise for the book but I will not give away the story but know this, there will be fighting, loss, love, betrayal and redemption but the story will continue because this is a saga and there is a team of soldiers that need a story of their own.
