While interesting reading, there are glaring errors that makes the reader question the overall accuracy of Ferry's work. In this particular volume for example, on page he says that Abraham Lincoln's son, Robert, in a letter he wrote in , claims that the Gettysburg Address was written on the back of an envelope.
In Robert was only 12 and the Gettysburg Address would not be written until On page , Ferry claims that the ship that was going on ahead of the Mayflower, the Speedwell by name, "developed engine trouble twice" and had to return to Southhampton. In fact, there were no engines on sailing ships in The Speedwell developed leaks that could not be repaired while at sea and had to turn back because of those. At the back of the book he offers "Suggested Reading", but doesn't call it a 'Bibliography'.
