The Laurel Heights series is like watching a TV series with a great supporting cast. Gwen was quirky and fun and made a great main character. In previous books you could definitely sense the chemistry between these two. These two characters have a lot of tension between them, and it nearly explodes every time they are together. Gwen strikes me on all the right chords. Who just happened to want to know her secrets, but agreed not to dig for them while they were in the throws of having hot, passionate sex.

Rick knows that Gwen is hiding something. He's not exactly sure what it is, but his gut is telling him there is more to her story and his gut is never wrong.

So he begins to observe Gwen in the hopes of finding what she's hiding. But the more time he spends observing her and talking with her, Rick is finding her charm hard to resist. Not only is she charming, but she's just so cute and sexy. I loved watching these two finally let down their walls and get together. The chemistry between them is great and they are both hot together. Jun 07, Casey Rock rated it liked it. She hated the pressure of living in the spotlight and with a little coaching from her grandmother, she left her family and started a new life for herself across the pond, as Gwendolyn.

Gwen kept her past close to her vest and manage to avoid being found out for years. Until she started dating a private investigator, Rick, and simultaneously was being honored for her artwork by a very influential museum. Fearing that her new life that she has perfectly created will be destroyed, Gwen spends her days plotting her next move to protect herself, her romance and her art.

Looking for You

For me, this book was really about a person's ability to choose their own path in life. Gwen was strong enough to leave her life behind and start fresh, which gave her the freedom to be whoever she wanted to be. But more than that first big break, once she had life figured out she also had to learn to be strong enough to accept her past, acknowledge it, and to continue being herself.

Just because old ghosts can come back to haunt us, we don't have to be a slave to them. Gwen had to learn that breaking free from her past gave her the opportunity to set herself on the right path but that when the past resurfaced, she was now in a situation that allowed her live with it.

May 27, Alicia rated it really liked it. The main character of Looking For You had a cool backstory and I really liked the premise of the whole novel. However, I feel like the book was just like any other quick, romantic love story. Really, when you read a ton of these type of books they almost all blur together. Besides the backstory, there really was nothing exceptional about the plot or the writing. Everything was really predictable.

The book started out with "It was a dark and stormy night. But then I read the next sentence and was relieved that Kate Perry wasn't writing in purple prose. But there were some things in the novel that I had issues with. I was really surprised about how quickly everything happened in the novel. In the first chapter they went from denying how much they hate each other to accepting that they lust at least it did not go straight to love after each other. I also did not like Camille's part in the novel.

I think her part was just too small and maybe a little irrelevant. To me it detracted from the story instead of adding to it. It's just because the novel was short. The author didn't have enough room to develop Gwen and Camille into main characters. Despite the flaws, it was pretty amusing and good for wanting to shut off your brain and entertain yourself on a boring weekend.

He's a private investigator, which is not a good combination, but they finally discover they can trust each other. Though Camille, the girl in the 2d romance, makes this difficult.

She's a struggling reporter with a famous, nagging mother. Her love interest, Dylan, is a writer, who believes she can do more than write fluff pieces in a small newspaper. Again all the friends gather together to support and help the struggling lovers tear down the barriers. Though the group is getting so large I wonder if they'll all fit into Eve's cafe by the end of the series. There's alot of humor and warmth in these stories and this one doesn't disapoint. Quen is flamboyant and is always doing crazy things. But she has a good heart and spends time helping at a teen art group.

Rick has his hands full keeping up with her. Dec 25, Paula Phillips rated it it was amazing. Feb 14, Kirke rated it liked it Shelves: Finally something is happening between Gwen and Rick. The tensions has been building in the previous book and now they collide. They are still throwing words at each other, but it just was a matter of time before they caved in. The dynamic between these two was simply awesome and so fun to read. Gwen is a wine heiress, but she left that life behind her to live in anonymity.

Nobody knows who she is and she likes to keep it that way. Rick has always known Gwen was hiding something, but while trying Finally something is happening between Gwen and Rick. Rick has always known Gwen was hiding something, but while trying to figure it out, he became more interested in the woman herself than the secret. Before he knows it she has captivated him. There is still the threat of uncovering Gwen's secret, but it won't be coming from Rick. That guy is in too deep. I liked how Gwen chose her own path. To find happiness she had to leave a lot behind, but I think most was worth it.

It's short and sweet, but also gives you more insight in their thought process as they often have an influence on the main story line. I think Looking For You has been my favourite so far. Gwen is just that little extra crazy and Rick is simply the total package. The mystery in the plot makes it a bit more interesting and the hot scenes are as delicious as ever.

Another great one from Kate Perry. Jul 11, Susan Wilson rated it it was amazing. I have truly enjoyed reading previous books in the Laurel Heights series, and it seems they just keep getting better! It's very satisfying that the author brings her charming lead characters along, weaving them into subsequent tales; have you ever read a really good novel and just hated when it ended, because you weren't ready to say "goodbye" to the characters you had grown to love?

With Kate Perry's novels, no need! An intertwining story follows Camille, the reluctant journalist, who wants to escape her mother's expectations and find her own voice. She is the catalyst for Gwen's exposure to the public, but her regrets in having done so also change her life for the better. Kate Perry always delivers an engrossing story, but beyond that, I'm impressed by her understanding of human nature: Mar 15, Stefani rated it liked it Recommends it for: In this book, we have the opportunity to meet again with Eve and Olivia, but we also encounter the beautiful Gwendolyn.

Gwen strikes me on all the right chords. I think she capture my heart with the scene where she rollerblades and enjoyed the rain. She might be lying by omission but with good reasons. She's brave enough to leave behind her old life rich in physical wealth but poor in happiness, to chase what she loves and do it and live happily.

I love her artistic side, her vibrant side I dont know why i just love this book. I love her artistic side, her vibrant side. Gwen is just Gwen and more. Rick didnt like her at first, cause i think he feels the attraction but fights it since she's so queer and cause his detective instincts tell his she's hiding something. Yet he finds reason to tail after her to be close to her. I understood why finding the money pushed him away.

And how Gwen with her balloon secret suddenly burst suspected Rick. Apr 01, Heather andrews rated it it was amazing. First thoughts of Rick, um.. Who knew that bony thing was an erogenous zone? A really fast-paced dialogues , i was awake till 3 am reading this book! The author had created interesting characters, Gwen the wine princess who is in hiding and Rick , a pivate investigation who was keen on unravelling Gwen's secrets!! The plotline was impressive. I did not get bored Wow I did not get bored for one minute while reading, the whole book was a fast read. The side romance between Camille and Dylan was ok. We were shown only Camille's life and her feelings, Dylan's character was just a surface one, not much we knew about him.

An intense read, you should not miss this one, can also be read as stand-alone! I would obviously rate it as 4. May 30, Casey rated it liked it. This version had a lot of typos. I'd like to believe that's a transition from paper to electronic, not the authors fault. The story of Gwen is an intriguing one. I rooted for her privacy the whole time and of course liked the chemistry she had with Rick. I only wish the story were a bit longer so that we could of had more build up to their relationship.

The second part of the love story was nice as well but didn't interest me as much as the original story we were reading about. Both characters G This version had a lot of typos. I have come to realize that this is often the case with the author Ms. I also thought Gwen story line was blah. She wanted to live her life without the heiress shadow but that plot was weak and did nothing to hold my attention. Sep 04, Melissa rated it liked it. Wine heiress Genevieve de la Roche has reinvented herself. Now known as Gwendolyn Pierce, she sports a bohemian lifestyle and earns her living as a gourd artist.

But will her romantic involvement with private investigator Rick Clancy turn out to be more dangerous instead?

It's a sweet and swift l Wine heiress Genevieve de la Roche has reinvented herself. It's a sweet and swift love story.

Despite the lies and deceit, two people find true love. The characters are likable and the issues are rational.
