This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Brian rated it it was ok Jan 22, Apr 25, Robert rated it liked it. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I might. Although the book had many interesting tidbits about 's and 50's Iraq, the writer didn't make the tidbits as meaningful as he might have. Where the writing really had something I could sink my teeth in was when the writer was juxtaposing Iraqi culture with American.
In these instances, the contrast really highlighted the differences in culture and people in a very meaningful way. Where the content really fell flat was when the writer was I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I might. Where the content really fell flat was when the writer was listing a number of people he knew in school and their personalities.
I didn't really understand what the relevance or the driving point of those chapters were other than that the writer was recognizing those people in writing.
