Her mother decides that it would be in everyone's best interest if Ronnie and her year-old brother, Jonah, spent the summer in Wrightsville Beach with Steve. Jonah is excited, while Ronnie can only wonder why her parents hate her so much as to send her there for the summer. Once they arrive, Kim leaves and Ronnie runs off to the carnival down at the beach, where she watches a volleyball game in the crowd. As she turns to leave, one of the players, the privileged Will Blakelee, knocks into her while trying to reach the ball, spilling her soda all through the front of her shirt.
In search of a stand selling apparel, Ronnie bumps into Blaze, an estranged teenager like herself, Blaze helps her find a T-shirt booth and they leave to watch a show by Marcus, Blaze's boyfriend, on the pier. The show includes "harmless" fireballs, and when it's over, the police runs Marcus off.
They go to sit under the pier, where Blaze heads off to get Marcus another beer. In Blaze's absence, Marcus attempts to hit on Ronnie, causing her to leave. Later, when Ronnie finds a nest of Loggerhead turtle eggs in danger of racoons behind her house, she decides to camp out next to it to save it. She learns that Will volunteers at the aquarium, and after a few nights of talking with him on the beach, she realizes she has feelings for him.
Ronnie then finds out that her dad has cancer. The movie plays out the romance that they post about on Facebook, but they'll never get to experience. In The Last Song Miley Cyrus spends time with her brother and dad on her father's beach house after their parent's divorce. She finds love and that's the story. The biggest problem with the movie right away is that Cyrus just isn't likable.
She treats everyone around her like crap and she does nothing but whine about having to spend time on a beach house. Trust me, she's not the only unlikable character. Her brother is a bad acting child actor whose dialogue consists of stuff Michelle Tanner from Full House would say, her dad is just some guy, and Cyrus's boyfriend Liam Hemsworth is just a generic "that guy" with no personality.
The movie is also incredibly predictable. Every time there's a dialogue scene, I was able to guess what cheesy line would be spilled out, every time there was a romance scene, I could tell what move Hemsworth would pull on Cyrus.
It's more about family. I couldn't get enough of him. April 2, Rating: Ronnie hasn't spoken to her dad in the 3 years since her parents divorced, and she doesn't want to be anywhere near him or in North Carolina. Those who is looking for a heartfelt, inspiring book about first love and loss. She and her father reconnect.
I didn't like the acting either. Cyrus spends most of the movie bitching and in the scenes where her character is suppose to be happy, she still looks like she's about to start pouting. Hemsworth was really wooden in his role and brought nothing to the character.
Another really dumb thing about the movie is the turtle hatching scene. Some of the scenes have Cyrus caring over turtle eggs and half of the movie builds up to them hatching.
There are two problems with that scenario: Why would you build up something as simple as turtle hatching? If you're going to build up to a scene, make it last more than 30 seconds. I'm not kidding, the turtles hatching doesn't last long because it's replaced with another stupid story arc concerning the dad. By the end of the movie, I didn't even care what had happened. There wasn't any flow to the story, the characters were boring, the plot was cliche, the dialogue was hammy and the acting was pathetic.
The only purpose this movie served was making money and trying to pass off as an unofficial sequel to The Notebook. It is a funny way to create a movie. Nevertheless it is good fodder if you are a romantic -- what does it say in the summary? I don't understand how people cannot find this film completeley and utterly heart wrenching. A beautifuly written love story by one of my favourite authors of all time. His films never fail to amaze me and this one was outstanding.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hensworth are adorable together and the story had me in tears. You don't expect it if you haven't read the book Nothing short of poignant and such a wonderful cast. A couple of unoriginal and uninteresting ideas immediately spring to mind: I had no intentions of doing either both are unoriginal and hence, uninteresting. What then could it be?
And so it went, right down the line. Until, of course, I stumbled onto the idea of sea turtles.
Or rather, a sea turtle nest. Fortunately, they liked the idea, and I agreed to write the screenplay first, since they wanted to start filming in the summer of He tries to reconnect with her through the only thing they have in common—music—in a story of family, friendship, secrets and salvation, along with first loves and second chances. She said that Miley Cyrus loved A Walk to Remember, and that she wanted to do something in the same vein.
After meeting with Jennifer, Adam, and the Cyrus family a few weeks later, I had some ideas about writing a coming of age story where the two lead characters would be forced to spend time together, but I also wanted to include a story that adults could relate to. And somehow, I came up with the idea of sea turtles, so I agreed to write both the screenplay and the book for The Last Song.
