I worked for 3 years in research under the guidance of Dr. Bieberich in the Department of Biology at UMBC, where I learned the basics of research science and the importance and impact of cancer on our society. This was an oh, so, prestigious recognition, you have no idea. Overall, I must say that UMBC was great to me, and as an international student from Nigeria, UMBC was more that I could have asked for from an institution for higher learning — it was a place where young boys and girls were turned into young men and women respectively. And what are your goals for after med school? My overall goal and plan in medicine is to use my skills and knowledge to make the world a better place for generations to come.

Let me first note that I'd rather read non-fiction with heavy content any day. Augustine "City of God. The entire read was gripping, but the twist in this story literally took my breath away.

As if that weren't impressive enough he has also penned his first major novel which appears here as BOUNTIFUL FAMINE - a story based on true historical facts in Africa but woven into a tale about family, about coming of age, and about how influences engaged in walking from childhood toward manhood affect the moral stamina of a prototypical lad in the throes of African wars. Aranmolate opens his book with a harrowing introduction of a lad bound and bloody in a closed wooden box and once he has our attention and compassion he begins his story by retracing the steps to this incident.
Basically the story is that of young Nadus and his closely knit family: Their mother Etiovl'detoc died in childbirth and their father is left to care of his little family as best he can. Famine and drought plague the land but the little family survives. The boys explore the animals and wilds of their homeland and eventually visit a big city where during their fascination with all that is beyond their grasp financially, the city becomes under siege by rebels.

The progress of the book at this point becomes so rapid that it gives the reader the feeling of being attached to a bullet aimed toward a surprising climax. What Aranmolate adds to his story are many pages of philosophy offered in the simplest terms, words of inspiration not only to Nadus and Tpyge but to the reader as well.

In the big city, people are told that the more you get the better your life becomes.
As a result everyone is trying to get more, even at the expense of the less-fortunate, and at times when you just can't get more you are made to feel like one of the destitute. I have seen people become so enslaved by their possessions that they killed themselves in times of loss. While Aranmolate takes us on a investigation of how cruel soldiers trained children to become killers, how the children and women were abused by the rebels, how the magic and mystery of African cultures interacts with the lives of the people challenged by not only famine but also war, he still takes the time to weave poetry into this book.
Descriptions of nature come easily to him, song-like, as in the following passage: The plastic bags in their hands swung from side to side, colliding repeatedly with their thighs - competing in resonance with the soles of their sandals smacking and welting the wet ground.
