Watson takes his pig for a ride in his pink convertible, Mercy must be cajoled out of the driver's seat with the promise of a tasty treat upon their return. One Saturday, their elderly neighbor, Baby Lincoln, stows away in the backseat. Man and pig speed happily along until Baby reveals her presence. Watson takes his eyes off the road, and Mercy seizes her chance, jumps into his lap, and grabs the wheel. The vehicle zooms along, pursued by a police car. Watson unable to reach the brake, it takes some heroics from Baby to save the day. Back at the house, the ever-serene Mrs. Watson manages to mollify everyone-including Baby's crotchety sister and the angry policeman-with a stack of hot buttered toast.

The very highest class of literature all in an "infinitely" amusing package. The plots are relatively simple, but it is of no consequence for they work perfectly with this type of story. So, if you want to experience the pinnacle of hilarity and all the virtues thereof and thereabout, I recommend that you read this, or far better, listen to this with the audiobooks that are read by Ron McLarty.

I really enjoyed the story. I thought it was really cute and definitely easy to read. I believe my students would really enjoy this book. The pictures throughout the novel were cute and the author used descriptive vocabulary. I would use this to teach my students about doing the right thing. From the beginning of the ride, Mercy was told by Mrs. Watson to not try to drive and she would be rewarded with buttered toast. Mercy did not listen to her and she got Mr. Watson and Baby Lincoln in trouble. I would turn this into a writing lesson. I would give my students the prompt of "how would you react if you saw a pig driving a pink convertible?

The story follows a pig, Mercy, and her owners on their predictable Saturday routine. The family enjoys a big breakfast and then Mercy and Mr. Watson take a ride in his convertible DiCamillo, K. This leads into a high speed chase with the police and an accident. I would use this book as a fun way to teach about car safety and the importance of not distracting the driver and always wearing a seatbelt.

This book is a fantasy chapter book. For a writing prompt, I would get the students to tell me of a time they did something they knew they weren't suppose to do but it was so much fun they just did it anyways. The thing I liked most about this book w This book is about Mercy Watson and her family. The thing I liked most about this book was how they used a pig as the main character. Since they don't typically have pigs as drivers, it was funny to see how this story panned out. Since this is a chapter book, instead of doing typical read aloud, at the end of each chapter I would get the students to turn to their share partners and summaries the chapter and make note of their favorite part of the chapter.
