I could not for the life of me get throught this tune two complete times. I don't know anything about the background of this tune.
I don't think it's that well known. There's only one other recording of it on YouTube, by two fiddles at a recital.
Harry Bradley has it on his 1st solo recording, and a lilted version of it appears on the recently released "Hidden Fermanagh" CD. It has also been recorded under the title the "Opera" reel, and sometimes "The Celebrated Opera Reel", and is thought originally to have been an American tune of some kind.
