To get to this truth the four characters must face both physical danger and ethical choices that will test their wills to the limit. And most importantly, they must grow from four separate individuals to a true team that trusts each other implicitly. So what are they? They are entirely original creatures, ready to burst onto the scene like hobbits, borrowers, gremlins and other famed creations of literature.

Mattermolders, as the name implies, are a race that can play with reality, bending it to their will. Each possesses a singular ability over matter, except for their leader who has limitless skills. They use this stolen gift to manipulate the laws of the universe and control countless worlds. The earth is under their control and no one is even aware of it.

The Mattermolder Chronicles paints a richly imagined universe populated by bizarre creatures, but what makes it come together are Darren, the loner whose cruel family holds dark secrets to the conspiracy, Jennifer, the courageous rebel trying to cope in a nightmare world, and Paul, the school bully who is about to get a serious wake-up call.

What if you were told that you were the key to bringing in the newest incarnation, and to do it, you had to connect with an unknown person miles away, and outrun a dreadful enemy that would do anything to stop your quest? This is the dilemma facing year-old Emily Barker and her sole confidante, Anne Connolly, in Everlore Circle , the 80, word first book of my young adult fantasy series The Illorium Cycle. The two friends are haunted by dreams and visions compelling them to go to a place called Everlore Circle, where several other children Rachel, Daniel, and Robert see their beloved neighborhood slowly being cleared out by a mysterious real estate agent.

While the novel has innumerable perils, cliffhanging set pieces, bizarre creatures of evil, underage driving, a hyperreality room, an infinite abyss, secret passageways, strange dreams and messages, a mysterious family, a librarian with mismatched socks, and an implacable, unforgiving adversary named Jasper Stygian for my characters and readers to deal with, it is primarily about connections between people. Connections and bonds between family, friends, and new acquaintances.

Thus, it is in the characters of the children, and their abilities to find their own best natures despite numerous temptations that this epic story becomes personal and truly timeless. In this simple message which haunts Emily day and night lays the key to unlocking the secrets of Illorium. These are my reviews from Everlore Circle when I entered it in the Amazon writing contest last year. The author had a great way with creating a likeable and totally understandable character in Emily.

I felt like the main strength of this excerpt remained in the fleshed out characterization of Emily and the strong sense of compassion we feel as a reader to her strange situation.

When Emily sees a string of mysterious words littering the pages of her history book she finds herself suddenly and unjustly the focus of a lot of negative attention from her peers and even her teacher. Yet, these words ignite a strength in Emily that is completely endearing.

I also loved how the author gave us just enough supernatural elements to keep us glued to the pages. The mystery surrounding the words on the pages of the book reminded me of the National Treasure films but with more of a magical feeling to it. I liked that Emily seems to be gaining abilities that are going to take us on some sort of adventure as the story continues. Great prose and easy reading. YA audiences will eat this up. Possibly a little more description as to the age of the character. I think the author did a great job with everything though. I really liked the mystery surrounding this entry.
