My Lucky Groom is full of fun, adventure and mishaps too. The plot and character Ventura worked hard to get her degree and a masters too in journalism; she had plans to come to Washington DC and find her dream job in a newsroom. The plot and characters just fit together jus right. Aug 31, Stacey Raymond rated it did not like it.
This story was more about the woman falling in love with the guy's kids. I always wonder how realistic this kind of thing is.
Especially when the kids are supposedly so terrible. The nanny was a miracle worker, and the kids were match makers. Didn't like this one, but it was clean. A bit too sweet to feel real.
Jun 17, Naomi Impellizzeri rated it liked it. Predictable, short, sweet enough, pretty cliche. Not terribly written but very mediocre. May 31, Ana rated it really liked it. Once I started reading My Lucky Groom by author Ginny Baird, it was nearly impossible for me to put it down and stop reading.
This book is a short story in Ginny's Summer Grooms Series. Book 2 Back to my review.
Ventura finds herself in Washington, DC. Leaving from home for the first time and feeling overwhelmed being on her own,Ventura felt a bit scared. A clumsy accident in front of her taking place. Ventura hears a mans voice. Are you all right? Ventura nods her head completely taken off guard watching.
I found this scene a bit funny as I read it, I was laughing out loud as Mary the waitress shooed the man away from Ventura. Mary was being protective of Ventura. Girls have to stick together. Every character had a unique playing role in this story, that came perfectly. The character I loved the most was Mary in this story. I found Mary supporting role in guiding Ventura in any way needed. Richard Blake a single father and a handsome bachelor in need of a nanny for his kids. Jason the assistant to Richard Blake. Richard was very grateful to have Jason as an assistant and friend.
Jason would pick up some nanny duties in addition to his demanding job. To me Ventura seemed a bit naive to the new world in Washington. Her parents broken marriage pushed her on her new journey adventure in a new city, without a job. Ventura had a job interview.
As she looked at the map she had in her hand she knew she was lost. Ventura was not going to make her interview on time or at all. Richard explained to Ventura he needed a nanny for his kids. Ventura turned him down on his job offer. After having no luck with any job at all Ventura swallows her pride and calls Richard for an interview. Richard hires Ventura as his new nanny for his five year old twins, Ricky and Elisa.
But just let me say that the attraction with Ventura and Richard blooms fully unto a great story. Having twins of my own as I read, I found myself smiling throughout the story and Ventura's adventures. I think Ginny Baird did great in writing out each character in this book. While reading this story , I enjoyed on how real the story seemed. I finished reading this book with a smile on my face.
I recommend this book for any one up for a great love story. You'll be happy you did. Apr 26, Katie W rated it liked it Shelves: Ventura, collector of fortune cookies, is off on a new adventure--finding work in Washington DC. She is a mids girl who feels that she was abandoned by her father when she was little and is also the type of girl who is often overlooked. Her chance meeting with an adorable waitress leaves her with a new best friend and roommate. Ventura, out of desperation, takes a job with one of the city's hottest bachelors Richard --but it's not quite the job she had in mind.
What I really liked about this Ventura, collector of fortune cookies, is off on a new adventure--finding work in Washington DC. What I really liked about this story is that Ventura is not portrayed as the perfect girl. She's very clumsy; she's not confident enough to follow her dreams, yet she does have a pretty good attitude about making the best of a situation; and she is on the heavier side, with thick glasses and out-of-control curly hair, often not the one that men take notice of.
This makes her very easy to relate to. I liked Richard too, but felt he could have been a little more developed. He comes across as a playboy, yet we don't see him in many situations that prove this to be wrong. He was very kind and compassionate, and obviously a doting dad, but I wish there had been a little more--emotion. There were a couple of very mild innuendos. The misunderstandings were pretty funny. A short, sweet book that left me with a smile on my face. Katie's Clean Book Collection Review Feb 06, Roberta Capizzi rated it it was amazing. This is my second and a half book by Ginny Baird the half being a short story and I truly love her writing style.
Ventura reminds a little of Bridget Jones at times, and I couldn't help but liking her from the very beginning. She's the girl anyone would want as their best friend. Unlike Bridget, though, Ventura is also smart and has goals, she's not rude and doesn't sleep around. She's waiting to meet the man of her dreams and succeed in her career as a writer, but she knows her bulky frame due to her love for Chinese food and fortune cookies!
What happens when she catches the eye of a hot and wealthy man at a party? You'll have to read the book and discover it by yourselves! All I can say is that I really enjoyed this book, from the plot to the characters, everything was captivating and entertaining. I loved the side characters, the twins, Mary, Nanette, Jason - they all played an important part in the story and in Ventura's life.
A clean romance that will hook you from the start and will make you laugh. Apr 09, Nancy Goldberg rated it it was amazing. This is a great book--I absolutely loved it.
From the first scene when Ventura has a date with her dad in the Chinese restaurant, I was hooked. Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. Ventura is looking for her dream job in journalism. Only she is doing odd jobs to make ends meet. In comes Mary who has a place to share.
With a make over from Mary, they are on their way to a party. Across the room is Richard. Their eyes met and cupid's arrow struck. Only Richard has 2 of the most precocious children ever. He can't keep a nanny for long. Ventura accepts the nanny position till her dream job comes through. Now not only is she falling for him but the children too. Her dreams have come true but not as expected.
My Lucky Groom is a fun, quirky, tale that presents 2 people who have been let down by someone they loved. Each has a need for love, but isn't sure exactly how to go about securing it. There are some odd-ball moments, but that's OK. I don't need everything to always be so serious. There is a theme of superstition as indicated by the title, but the book is clean in language and romance. So, find a comfortable chair and enjoy this light-hearted read of a gal forging ahead in spite of the many obstacles she faces and a guy realizing that he needs to move on in life.
I liked this one too. The character was not pleased with herself but then when she met Mary she got her confidence back. I've it was because of the friendship she developed and the strength from her friends too give her self esteem back in her life. I loved this book too. This book was really good and I really really enjoyed reading it. Normally it has been taking me a while to read any ebook.
We have had some big time sadness recently and keeping my minx on anything was hard to do.
