The next time we took Winchester to the Dakotas, Steve drove them through Canada, and I met them at the airport. Both seemed more relaxed — Winchester had a pre-trip haircut that allowed him to keep his feathered tail, and Steve had kept his wits better after 72 hours of driving. Last week, when the weather was particularly bad, I suggested we take a long weekend and fly one of the dogs somewhere out-of-state to hunt pheasant.

Steve looked at me like I was crazy. For some people, flying with a pet is part of life in the fast lane. Non-Resident’s Guide to Hunting Alaska

I was fortunate to take the 17th brown bear I saw on the 5th day! I'm not a super patient person and hunting Brown bears with this outfitter is an afternoon affair. You normally don't get to sleep until after midnight. Most days go back out after 2: Makes for a long boring day on the yacht. Great PH, facilities and game. The whole experience from the flight out.

First class all the way. Everyone on the island were great. Trip went too quick, Time flies when you are having fun. Hunt can be hard, but extremely rewarding The guides are well verse in the animals of Alaska and are residents. Not someone from the 'lower 48' looking for work. Having better sleeping quarters would be nice but not real practical if you are headed to the back country. A larger group tent for eating and drying out would be nice along with a chair or two.

Zac and Mutts are awesome. I would recommend them in a heart beat. Tim is serious about being a top guide. Takes good care of all. Others in camp saw limited game. Legal rams were a challenge as was the wet foggy weather. Fly in, tent camp, and food were very good. Guide worked hard and was a trustworthy backup on an archery Brown Bear. Hunt was successful and skinning job for a life size mount excellent, my taxidermist said it was the best he had ever seen. Good knowledge, communication, planning and preparation. Pace at times was challenging.

I liked how prepared Cabot was, in addition to how well he knew the area. The fact that I only had one tag. His guide worked very hard at making a tough hunt as easy as possible. The outfitter nor the guide knew there area very well. The area they hunt appears to be well managed and holds good numbers of quality trophies. These folks are more than happy to hunt as hard as you are capable. If you are wanting to hunt sheep, be sure you are physically and mentally capable of this type of hunt. They do a good job of finding your best abilities. The odor of my clothes when i returned I cant think of any one thing i did not like on my extreme sheep hunt.

I expected to live on dried food and be wet most of the time from either precipitation or perspiration. My advice for a prospective hunter is know what to expect for the species you wish to hunt. Experienced, knowledgeable guide, beautiful location. Messed up my shot on a bear, which was my fault alone. Boat based hunting offers a unique experience. Eli is one of the hardest working guides I have ever hunted with. Glaciers, ice bergs, seals, whales, and lots of goats. I felt the area has been over hunted.

Great place to experience what hunting is, challenging yourself and the feeling of accomplishment at the end of a tough hunt,.

Cabot is a great person. I wouldn't hesitate to have another life experience with him. Anticipating another adventure in Great setting and the guides help you accomplish the impossible. It was physically and mentally challenging, but very satisfying. Hospitality and food were also great. Come fully prepared and ready to shoot from unconventional positions.

Eight days of true adventure. Saw between different bears and at least 5 huge boars. I harvested mine at 80 yards. What an incredible hunt! The hunt had to end. Outfitter moved me twice, by air, to get me on game. Entire team worked tirelessly and as a unit to make sure I was enjoying every aspect of my hunt. Not a single complaint. Peter is an excellent bowhunting guide. He can really read the terrain well.

Good area and great Outfitter who is very friendly and helpful. Pete was more than willing to guide a Bowhunter when many Outfitters are not especially for Big Bears. Hunt was too short as I killed my Bear on the 4th day. The entire expirience from start to finish was memorable and exiting. Very spartan conditions for the money. The island was one of the most enchanting places I have visited and was hunting as a bonus. The experience in the Aleutian Islands was pretty wild. This is not a cheap hunt. There were a couple of coordination problems on the back end of the hunt - getting to where we needed to all get flights etc.

Quality Base camp with internet and phone Comms. Excellent Area, rich in game and exceptional Quality of species Trophies available. Owner Pilot in base camp on resupply and relocation runs daily weather allowing,. Daily Communications with base camp via inReach. I cannot think of it. I hunted 4 times with Chet in 4 years.

Every year was successful and I have 4 memories of a lifetime. The hunts are hard but he game is there. If you put in the work, effort, and preparation you can be assured a great experience and successful hunt. You feel important to the outfitter and won't be let down. I never went hungry and the outfitter was constantly in touch with the hunters and guides out in the field. He worked hard toward safety and success on every hunt. When necessary they brought in the plane to make a change in location when weather or hunting dictated a change.

Costs in Alaska are very expensive, so it is with hunting and the necessity of airplanes for travel This makes it very pricey for the average hunter like myself. Weather during hunting season can be brutal. I was advised of proper gear ahead of time. Not the outfitters fault of course but makes it hard to feel like a good value for your dollars.

They were honest people. I got a Grizzly bear on a trophy fee. I got a shot at 3 wolf's. I got a really nice Carabou. The guide Luke bros Wes was the best guide I ever hunted with. He got me on a bear and a Caribou.

Eight days of true adventure. It is my opinion that you need to invest a solid two weeks into this adventure. Barela's Alaskan Outfitters High quality. We have pioneered our own landing strips away from other hunters in game dense areas. Great people make for Great experiences.

Even after I sprain my knee. He was a real professional. He pushed me when we had to never left me behind and hunted with in my limitations. I can't say enough good things about him. If I am ever lucky enough to ever hunt with Luke and Wes again I would count it as a blessing. Luke even move me.
