    • These stories are a true celebration of the appreciation of beauty in small ordinary things and I could feel an inwardly pull from every single one of them. You'll find yourself rereading and reliving these stories in your mind and will be drawn by the faint glow that emanates from these pages and gently sucks you in.

    The beauty of the prose is such that I felt as if the words had come on the pages almost by magic, and made me recall Sakuta, when he said in 'The Destiny of Shoes' , "It looks as if the petals climbed the trees.

    Each story will touch you deep down and it'll be no wonder then if you'll find yourself smelling the faint perfume of great writing every time you'll stumble across this book. I consider myself lucky on read this book for sure and can feel the 'Night Flight' play its tricks always.

    Wah, how I miss this book. It's the first book I read in english when I'm about 17 or I don't really remember all the stories, but I remember it's quite satyr, typical of japanese literatures, I think.

    But I enjoy some stories; the one about an ugly woman whose husband cheated her with his beautiful co-worker and the one about the man who's suspected found the elixir that keeps him young for decades. Most of the stories dealt with the past and memories. Your childhood, your first, your history.

    Sometimes I don't, or I try not to, think that the past has past. True that the past shaped who you are, but they are gone. But I came to learn more that the past is here. The past, the present, the future.

    They are different gramatically, but blend together as one essentially.     Delightful short stories - or the first ones are. Towards the end of the book the stories start to be the same.

    The 9th president of the Mystery Writers of Japan Books by Takashi Atoda. My only regret is that this appears to be the only English translation of his many collections of short stories.
