A young gypsy girl meets a young laird with a daughter and a secret. Must read to get the whole story.
You will definitely enjoy. I gave this book a 4 star rate as it is written well.
Great story line and the author continues to draw you in. This was an interesting historical romance about the gypsies living in Scotland in the s and the baby Queen Mary. The Hero William was a wise and tender hearted Scott who watched his father die at age of 13 and was raised in England.
He returns to the borderlands where he saves and falls in love with Tamsin, half gypsy with a deformed hand. Together they save the baby Queen Mary!
Her story telling is so good that I This is the first Susan King book that I have read. Her story telling is so good that I could not put the book down, and got teary when it ended. This story, Heather Moon, was wonderful with it's intrigue, adventure and romance. I almost forgot about it, and it felt like they did too. Often couples seem to rush into marriages of convenience with little thought and less love. Tamsin and William basically marry to please other people, but each secretly wants the match, and they both spend a lot of time considering how to conduct themselves honorably.
The thought they put into their commitment is rare and touching.
Tamsin is particularly interesting. The setting is also top notch. And the Scottish flavor is very much in evidence.
Caught between loyalty to his country and the longing in his heart for the girl, who will he inevitably betray? Even so, this section of the book is shorter than many of the other Williamson travelogue fiction I've enjoyed in the past. She also falls into the "trap" of immediately believing the sob story that her jealous rival feeds her towards the end. Beth added it May 02, Amazon Advertising Find, attract, and engage customers. I can't wait to read other story's by Susan King.
Has anyone else been reading books that profess to have a Scottish setting but might as well be set in London or Boston? Thankfully this is not one of those.
Many aspects of Gypsy life are also presented. For some reason, I have read a lot of books with Gypsy characters lately, and my first thought was that this book could not possibly have anything new to say.
The Heather Moon is definitely worth reading. The conflict, characters and setting really set this book apart from the crowd.
