The reflective writings were brief and touching and from a wide range of writers, from Reverends to Rabbis.
I'm not one to read devotionals or brief inspirational writings, but I recognize their value to many readers and these seemed generally apt for the book though occasionally I wondered at why something was chosen. Looking for a good book? If you like coffee-table inspirational books, this is the just the sort you're looking for.

The sun sets behind the islands of the inner Hebrides, turning the sea to molten gold. But from late August on, thanks to the progression of our planet around the sun, it sets behind the headland, out of sight. Luckily, I came across this beautiful book - Sunrise, Sunset: Design During the spring and summer I see fabulous sunsets from the beach, two minutes walk from my home.
Designed to offer inspiration for a full year, I found myself hungrily going from one page to the next, keen to devour each painted sky. The talented photographer, Kim Weiss, has captured a rich variety of skies, no two the same yet each with the familiarity of a shared memory. She has managed to capture the magnificence and awe of our beautiful sky.
The second time I opened the book I took the time to read the words accompanying each photograph. There are poems, anecdotes and meditation suggestions from an impressive variety of authors, counsellors, coaches and spiritual leaders. No one religion is favoured and I loved the inclusiveness of the contributors. Some of their words moved me more than others - of course they did - but there is merit in each contribution. My favourite words are from Joanne McCall and they accompany a photograph of a dawn sky, striated by candy clouds.

There are one hundred and twenty-eight pages that entice anyone who loves looking at stunning photos taken by a great photographer. The ending lists biographies on everyone who contributed. What you find inside are photos that not only include beautiful sunrises and sunsets but silhouetted trees, an in flight bird and every type of cloud. I think the reflections she includes with each shot matches the imagery exactly the right way.
This is a perfect book to read any way you want. I recommend it to everyone. The words on the back cover are so true, "The same vista, never the same sun. The colors are vibrant, and the range of photos show the infinite variety the sun provides in our skies, along with colors, clouds, and rays of light. This book is a remind of why we love to look at the sky.
Each phot This is a stunning book. Each photo is paired with a poem, quote, or passage. The writers come from a wide variety of backgrounds--some are religious, others scientists, there are poets and authors, and also journalists. The text and the photos are matched well in mood. I would love to have these photos as wallpaper on my computer.

Glad I do have a bit of vision now that I can enjoy them rises and sets myself. Comes at a great time, we've just had Thanksgiving and the memory of those no longer with us makes us appreciate those left here on Earth a bit more as the crowd gets smaller every year.

Love poems, stories of places visited and the scenery. I have felt like I am along for the ride Sunrise, Sunset: I have felt like I am along for the ride of a lifetime, visiting so many new places and seeing the sky from the angles. Bookends of my life-sunrise and sunset would be my favorite page. Love the index at the end where those contributing have a sentence or two about what they do in their lifes.
