March 15, at 9: March 19, at 3: March 19, at 5: I made cakes and pies with my mom but never beauty stuff. That would have been fun! Instead I had a very smart young lady who wanted to learn and share that with others. Hey, I can't complain about that. But finally while she is now in college we get to bond with our beauty habits.
Even though the book Bonding over Beauty was meant to help a mom and her tween bond and learn, I am finding use for it now. We both have lea You see my College Girl never did like the beauty thing. We both have learned how to use different hair styling tools. I mean things have changed since I was a teen. Back then a blow dryer and hot rollers were the limit. Now there are irons to make hair straight, curly or kinky. Gosh where to begin. Also I finally found out the secrets to plucking my brows and not crying through the whole thing. I still prefer wax but oh no, not for College Girl.
She appeared in over commercials, print ads, films and interned in the beauty department at Seventeen magazine. Jun 17, Stephanie rated it did not like it. This book was a huge disappointment. I read a review in a magazine that recommended this book as a way to stay connected with your daughter, to build self-confidence etc, and that it was not a beauty guide. But it was totally a beauty guide, and not only that, it seemed as though the audience would be moms from my mother's era, not mine.
Seriously it was a complete waste of time.

This book gave me many great ideas, and plenty to think about. While I rarely took the author's advice to a "T", there were many similar options I have now incorporated into my nightly routine with my daughter.
