Cline does his best to re-burnish the lost glow of archaeology by collecting several stories of remarkable discoveries in a single well-written volume. The book goes a long way toward reviving the idea that the past, rather than being buried and gone, is the last and greatest frontier of human exploration. You'll meet famous archaeologists, explore legendary sites, and see the latest discoveries using new technologies.

So this book helps make up for it, a real joy to read. Highly recommend for all of us wannabe archeologists. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase.
I found it fascinating as I've always had an interest in this science. Well written and is not particularly challenging for those of us without a science background.
Great book, gives a good introduction to archeology, especially enjoyed the segements that discuss technical aspects of archeology field work, things that are more related to actually doing archeology. Excellently written and with humor, I highly recommend this book This is truly a tour de force.

Feb 19, Nathan rated it it was ok Shelves: Both stars I gave this book were given for its plotline, which I found original and interesting. I pushed myself to page before I finally gave up. Feb 10, Matthew rated it it was ok. I started to read this but found the style too erratic and discontinuous. I was disappointed because the plot seems to be quite good. I will add it to my list of "try it again" books, many of which I have loved when rereading at a later time.
