Don't have an account? For most of contemporary paddling history, the portions of the Merced River contained within the confines of Yosemite National Park were a big no-go. Archaic park regulations and out-of-touch land use policies had rendered much of the legendary river off-limits to boaters of all stripes who wished to test their mettle on Yosemite's rushing granitic runs.
Granted a special permit to be the first paddlers to drop the Merced's headwaters above Nevada Falls, Pat Keller and Steve Fisher hiked their boats deep into the Yosemite backcountry to pioneer some rowdy, burly lines. Was an amazing view you share here. Your point of view is the best among many. Nice read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that.
And he just bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Wow, superb weblog structure! How long have you been blogging for? Return to Moon Valley on his next scheduled day, then one more time to finally receive the Hammer. To get fall to return again, go see King of the Underworld to get the Fall Crystal. Now that you have the hammer, you can mine through the rock blocking your way to the Underworld King's lair Use ARCHITECT to place a wooden bridge on the tile directly in front of any cave entrance, and you will be able to step off the wooden bridge into the cave no matter how high or low it is.
If you don't have bridges or don't want to rely on a glitch, you'll need to tunnel downward to reach the Underworld King. You can simply mine straight down and use the Harvest Sprite Whistle to teleport home, but since you'll be returning here, you may want to build a proper tunnel. You can design it however you want, but a staircase like the one in the screenshot will take up a relatively small amount of space. On the map screenshot, you can see where the Underworld King, Gorgan, lives. If you want to build a staircase like the one pictured above, lay out a roughly 5x5 space in front of Gorgan's lair, with the bottom left corner one block below the three tiles-wide entrance to the Underworld Kingdom.
If you're looking at the map, it should be two blocks below the door icon, which is the center tile of the three tiles-wide cave. Break the stone block on that tile and a layer or two of the stone blocks in the rest of the 5x5 space, to make it easier to visualize exactly where the stairs will begin and end. Then dig the staircase in an S-shaped pattern starting from the top right step, labeled Step 21 in the diagram below.
Step 1 will be on Level 1, Step 2 will be on Level 2, and so on all the way to the top of the cliff. It may seem complicated at first glance, but once you actually get started in-game you'll see it's not so bad. Just remember, do not build the staircase on the three blocks in front of the entrance. At least one of the blocks labeled "Lair" in the diagram must be cleared away completely to allow access to the Underworld. However you chose to get there, you'll eventually come face-to-face with Gorgan, King of the Underworld.
Before you can even ask him about the Fall Crystal, Gorgan angrily banishes you from his presence. So much for speaking to him reasonably! As you trudge off in dejection, Rowan will appear and suggest meeting with a Harvest Sprite who is on good terms with Gorgan. If you haven't already, break up several rocks or hit up the mines, and the next morning Flint will awaken. Return to the Underworld King again, and he will set you an impossible task—if you want the Fall Crystal, bring him a Blessed Fruit.
Speak to the Harvest Goddess when she's available, and she will be shocked to hear Gorgan treated you so nastily. Obtaining the Blessed Fruit isn't impossible, just terribly difficult. First, you will need the Blessed Seeds. Who do you know that's mentioned having some very special seeds? To get the Blessed Fruit, first you need the Blessed Seeds. Who do you think could help? He is willing to part with the seeds, but in return, he would like you to bring him a Flower of Grace.
Someone who knows a lot about animals may know something about it. Ask someone who likes animals. He hasn't heard of any flower by that name, but he has seen wild animals with a strange-looking plant before. Hunter will introduce you to a dun-colored, lop-eared bunny, and sure enough, the flower it's holding is the Flower of Grace. Remember this bunny for later; it will be important if you decide to get married. Return to Gilbert on Monday or Thursday night with the flower in hand to receive the Blessed Seeds, then speak to the Harvest Goddess on one of her scheduled days.
Not so fast, though!
In order to grow the Blessed Seeds, you need It seems the Harvest Goddess can't quite remember, so you'll need to find someone who knows a lot about trees. You need to figure out how to grow the Blessed Seeds. Catherine was always nagging you about trees and bragging about her father's vast knowledge of them, so talk to her when she's by your house, at the Goddess Spring, or in Moon Valley.
She will recite an old nursery rhyme for you alluding to the Blessed Tree and describing how to grow one. You need the Insta-Sun to help the Blessed Seeds grow. Can you think of anyone who could help? This "Insta-Sun" doohickey sounds an awful lot like an Insta-Building, doesn't it? Doc can make it no problem, but as his assistant, you'll need to supply the materials first. Really, what did you expect? Collect all the materials needed to make the Insta-Sun, then give them to Doc. Refer to the Mining section if needed for mine location photos.
Editorial Reviews. About the Author. Leonardo Deangelo was born in Italy and came to The Lost Valley: An Adventure by Sam and Spot - Kindle edition by. Join Sam and Spot on this adventure to the Lost Valley, a beautiful, magical, and dangerous place that has bite. Will you dare enter with Sam and Spot or run in.
Who could help you on this? Sally lost her pendant. You should ask around. Head to Moon Valley and speak to Naomi for a cutscene. After that, speak to April on Wednesday or Thursday when she's by your house for another scene. To encourage Naomi, collect materials for a bouquet, then give them to April. Bring these flowers to April when she's standing around outside your house, and then speak to Naomi.
Once you have both the Insta-Sun and Tears of Happiness in hand, bring them to the Harvest Goddess at one of her scheduled times and watch the events unfold. Congratulations on restoring all three seasons to the valley! Season Changes If you restore Fall to the valley while still in that season, the season will change from Winter to Fall the next day. However, it will take a day for all the snow to melt, so if you want to save your crops, wait until Fall 29th to bring the Insta-Sun and Tears of Happiness to the Harvest Goddess.
Iris will now sell Cosmos and White Rose seeds. You can now accept quests all six, eight, or ten quests from every character, including Naomi. Once your child is about three seasons old, he or she will be afflicted with sleeping sickness, an illness with no known cure. All hope is not lost, however! Gareth suggests the Harvest Goddess may be able to help. A Mother's and Father's Love Your spouse will now stay awake day and night next to the crib, standing vigil over your slumbering child.
This means you will not be able to accept or turn in requests for the duration of the event, and if your spouse is Catherine or Hunter you will be unable to purchase clothes or animals. Even though your spouse may discourage you from participating in festivals, you can still enter all non-romantic festivals if you like.
However, he or she will refuse to go out for a Starry Night date with you during this event. Theoretically, the game can be rendered unwinnable if your spouse is Hunter and this event triggers when you have no cows and no Great Milk or better. To avoid this, make sure you always hold at least one Great Milk in reserve. Look for a cure for the Sleeping Sickness! Maybe the Harvest Goddess knows something? Visit the Harvest Goddess on one of her regularly scheduled days, then speak to Gorgan.
He will give you the happy news that there is indeed a cure to sleeping sickness known as the Morning Dew of Life. However, only the Harvest Sprite of Life can make it, and his whereabouts are currently unknown Perhaps he will show himself when the time is right. The Morning Dew of Life will awaken your child. The Harvest Sprite Oliver may be able to help. After going to sleep, you will have a dream of the mysterious purple sprite you met at the very beginning of the game. The little Sprite will ask that you collect the ingredients needed to make the Morning Dew of Life and meet him at the Harvest Goddess Spring during the daytime.
Collect materials for the Morning Dew of Life, then go to the Spring when it's light out. Bring the materials to the Goddess Spring on any day between 6 AM and 8 PM to finally meet Oliver, the Harvest Sprite who guided you to the valley and has watched over your progress every since.
He will create the precious Morning Dew of Life with the items you bring to him and instruct you to give it to your child. Stand next to your son's or daughter's crib and press the A Button to use the remedy. The next morning, you will witness another scene with Oliver, unlocking him for hire at the Goddess Spring. Asking him to work will send him to either your barn or coop, lengthening the lifespans of your animals and helping them recover from illness.
Congratulations on clearing the post-game storyline! You can now focus your attention on other goals like growing every crop or terraforming your dream valley. Instead of giving daily gifts to raise the affection of The Lost Valley residents, you will be fulfilling their occasional requests for items. When you talk to a character in the right conditions, the "Request" option may appear on the bottom screen. If you decide to click it, the NPC will proceed to ask for something as a favor and your character will agree to it.
Some requests are easy and triggered naturally by raising that person's chemistry, but others have more esoteric requirements to unlock and may require items you have no hint on how to obtain. Though the rewards for some quests may be paltry compared to the time and effort required to complete them, others will award very useful items such as jewels or valuable recipes.
Completing requests is also the quickest way to raise someone's chemistry, and doing so will prompt many characters to share some of their backstory with you. Marriage candidates' first eight quests must be completed in order to view all four of their heart events and marry them; while they offer two additional normal quests for a total of ten, it is only necessary to complete the first eight for a marriage proposal.
Characters will only offer quests or accept items for them at designated "business" locations: Quest availability is also tied to story progress. You can only complete a character's first two quests before you restore Spring, their first four quests before you restore Summer, and only the marriage candidates' fifth quests until you restore Fall. Naomi does not offer quests at all until Fall returns and is excluded in the chart below. After you finish all of a character's six to ten normal requests, they will begin offering you their repeatable seasonal requests. Each character has two per season, and which one you will get is completely random i.
Seasonal request rewards tend to be insultingly meager compared to the time and effort required to complete them, but a rare few of these can be lucrative. Besides those limited exceptions, these requests should only be undertaken as a challenge or when needed to raise the requester's chemistry with you. You cannot choose which seasonal request you get, so if you want a particular one, save your game before talking to the character and reset if they give you the wrong one. You can save your game before mining a node, chopping one of Woody's trees, or collecting milk and eggs from your animals, then reset if you don't get the result you need.
This will save you a lot of time and trouble. Mining and Farming for Fun and Profit Many requests will require you to mine various ores or mutate crops to complete. April's requests are triggered based on growing flowers. If you feel you are overdue for a new request from her, try growing a lot of different flowers. You will need to complete her first eight requests if you wish to marry her. Collect all the materials for the blacksmith, then give them to Brutus.
Brutus's requests can be unlocked by refining items with him. Pay him to refine a single item, cancel out, and talk to him again. If he offers you a request, take it; if not, rinse and repeat until he does. Remember, it is based on the number of transactions you make, not the quantity of items nor the amount of gold you spend.
Before it will count as a separate transaction, you must cancel out completely and talk to him again. For more help locating the ores for his requests, see the Mining section. Give a gift to Catherine. Remember, she'll only take high-quality things, though. Collect all the materials needed to make an invention, then give them to Doc.
Doc's requests unlock based on the amount of terraforming you've done. If you're having trouble unlocking his requests, try digging and placing dirt to unlock them. Emily's requests can be triggered by cooking food in your kitchen. If you feel you are overdue for a new quest, try making a dozen Strawberry Jams or so and talk to her again.
It doesn't matter whether you make them one by one or all together in a single batch. You will need to complete her first eight requests to marry her. Gilbert's requests trigger based on how many fish you've caught. For every 30 fish you manage to hook, he will give you a new request, meaning you need a total of fish caught to marry him and to finish all ten quests.
For more help locating the ores for his requests, see the Mining section; for more help catching the fish, consult the Fishing section. Like Brutus and Iris, Hanna's quests do not trigger based on chemistry and instead can be unlocked by selling her cooked dishes.
Sell her a single cooked item, then cancel out completely and talk to her again. If she offers you a request, take it; if not, rinse and repeat until she does. Remember, it is based on the number of transactions you make, not the quantity of items nor the amount of gold you earn. Before it will count as a separate transaction, you must cancel out completely and talk to her again. Collect all the ingredients to make animal feed, then give the feed to Hunter.
Doing Hunter's first eight requests will be necessary if you want him to walk your character down the proverbial aisle. Like Brutus and Hanna, Iris's quests do not trigger based on chemistry and instead can be unlocked by selling her flowers. Sell her a single flower, then cancel out completely and talk to her again. Like other candidates, you will need to complete his first eight requests if you wish to marry him. Y'know Luke, most of these things don't have medicinal properties per se You can 'fess up and call 'em "Luke's Munchies.
Naomi's quests cannot be triggered until after restoring Fall to the valley. Once you do, her requests will trigger based on how many times you've sheared your sheep. Sally's fourth request for Yogurt cannot be finished until Fall is restored, as the recipe is rewarded from a request that will not trigger prior to that. Sam's eighth request is locked until you finish Tabitha's seventh request; after you accept it, Tabitha's eighth request will unlock. Collect all the ingredients needed to make Magic Medicine, then give them to Tabitha.
Tabitha's eight request is locked until you accept Sam's eightn request. For more help locating the ores for her requests, see the Mining section. Tony's requests will unlock as you mine and like every other candidate, you will need to finish his first eight requests if you wish to marry him. While items in TLV can't be gifted, they are used for many other purposes: Many items can be safely sold for money as they are easy to reacquire when needed, with the exception of rare ores mithril, orichalcum, adamantite, diamond, pink diamond, soul gem and seasonal Great quality crops.
Please note that the descriptions on some crops such do not accurately reflect how they are actually mutated. Despite their in-game descriptions, Goby is not in fact edible while Yellow Perch is. Please refer to the Fishing section for more details on catching these fish. For more information on how to obtain the recipes or craft fertilizer, please refer to the Fertilizer section.
The purchase prices listed below are for the normal quality version of each fertilizer and not the Super version, which must be crafted. Despite the description, Great Fodder Cornmeal cannot be used to make animal feed.
Please refer to the Milling section for more information on obtaining the recipes for these items. Hanna's sell price is equal to the number of points each dish is worth in the cooking contest. For example, Hanna pays G for Bread, so it is worth points. For maps and a more detailed description of mine locations, please refer to the Mining section. Once you complete the main story to restore all three missing seasons, you can finally begin courting the guy or gal you fancy. There are a total of eight marriage candidates with four available per gender: Candidates of the same gender cannot marry, nor are there any secret marriage candidates.
Getting hitched to the man or woman of your dreams won't be easy, so roll up your sleeves and get ready to work! The first step to getting married is finishing the main story. Until you restore Fall, you will not be able to upgrade your house, finish the second half of the candidate's requests, or see their last two love events.
If you haven't yet completed the story, you can refer to the Spring , Summer , or Fall sections of the walkthrough for assistance with these quests. Next you will need to raise the candidate's chemistry by completing their requests and viewing their events. Other things you can do to raise their chemistry include talking daily.
Every two requests finished up to the eighth request will prompt a new love event for a total of four scenes. If you need help with a candidate's schedule, requests, or love events, you can use the table below to jump to the section you need. Get the Blue Feather so you can propose. A rabbit in the Spring may know something. Once you've witnessed all four love events for any candidate, the Harvest Goddess will telepathically summon you in your dreams.
Talk to her at the Goddess Spring, and she will explain the rest of the steps that must be undertaken to propose marriage to your sweetheart. When the valley was inhabited, it was considered traditional to propose with a Blue Feather. Coincidentally, the Harvest Goddess saw a bunny rabbit carrying one not long ago, and suggests you befriend it in order to obtain the feather. Note that the Goddess means the dun-colored, lop-earned bunny that appears in Spring, Summer, and Fall and not the albino bunny that appears in Winter. As adorable as it is, that bunny does not award the Blue Feather , so you'll need to wait until Spring to meet and befriend the correct bunny.
It may take a few weeks of petting to coax the little guy into forking over a feather, so be patient and persistent in your efforts. The bunny has its own schedule, so you may not be able to find it at certain times or in certain types of weather. This will cause the bunny to spawn in a different, hopefully easier-to-find location. Besides acquiring the Blue Feather, you will need to upgrade your house twice and outfit it to accommodate your sweetheart. For this endeavor, you will need a total of:. After you finish the main story, the Large House upgrade will be unlocked for sale with Doc.
Building it will unlock the Giant House upgrade for sale, which will in turn unlock the Queen Bed and Table and 4 Chairs. Both upgrades and all the furniture can be built within a single day provided you have all the materials. Once you've owned the Giant House for a week, Doc will put the Crib up for sale. You do not need to be married yet in order to construct it. Mining will be your main source of income. Make sure you hit up the four mines that produce jewel ore once every three days, refine them, and sell them to Sam.
Depending on your luck, you can make roughtly 20, G to 50, G per mining run. For more information about mining locations, click here. Flint's nodes can also drop jewel ore, and if you're patient, you can save and reload to ensure each one yields jewel ore two Fluorite Ores being the most lucrative result for 20, G or more per day. If you've finished Brutus's quests, his seasonal repeatable quests can yield between 14, G and 25, G each if you have the ore to spare. Doc's Fall Assistant 1 is another lucrative repeatable quest that will net you 6, G in exchange for G in lumber. For more information about downloading the DLC crops, click here ; for more information about crops and farming, click here.
Besides earning the money, you'll also need to acquire the materials needed for the upgrades to marry and have a child. Making use of the save and reload trick is highly advised; otherwise, you may end up waiting two or more in-game years for the RNG to cooperate. Hiring Woody is definitely the easiest way to collect the lumber you need. If necessary, you can save before chopping down the tree and reload if you don't get the result you need.
Besides hiring Woody, you can chop down cone trees for Softwood Lumber and leafy trees for Hardwood Lumber, or purchase both of them from Sam for G. Your loyal canine companion can also bring you Mysterious Lumber on occasion when his affection is high enough. Wool comes from shearing sheep, which you can purchase from Hunter starting in Fall of Year 1.
Mature sheep produce wool once every three days, meaning it will take a newly purchased lamb two seasons to produce all the wool you need for both the queen bed and crib. Depending on how soon you want to marry and purchase niceties such as curtains or new clothes, you may want to consider investing in a second lamb to speed up the process. You can always sell her back to Hunter later if you want.
If you downloaded Andrea, completing all of her normal requests will reward you with the glass and metals you need to fully upgrade your home for marriage. The crib will need a little extra Orichalcum from you, however. If you don't have Andrea, you will need to mine the materials yourself and pay Brutus to refine them. Mithril Ore and Glass Material can additionally be dropped from Flint's nodes. For more information on mining locations, refer to the Mining section.
Once you've obtained the Blue Feather and made your home marriage-ready, you can finally propose to your one true love. Seek them out in one of their "business" locations, whether this is by your house, in Moon Valley, or at the Goddess Spring, and speak to him or her to trigger the proposal prompt. Note that until you propose to someone, you will no longer be able to accept or complete requests with any marriage candidate you meet the requirements to marry except on festival days when you cannot propose.
Proposals are always be successful; no one will ever reject you when you ask for their hand in marriage. The wedding ceremony will take place a week later unless it falls on a festival day, in which case it will be postponed until the next day. Remember, there is no such thing as divorce or crying off an engagement in Harvest Moon. You will have to start over if you decide to marry someone else, so choose your spouse carefully! If you meet the requirements, marriage candidates may come knocking asking you to marry them instead.
Turning down a proposal will not result in any lost chemistry, but the candidate will never ask you again. If you decide to marry them later, you will have to seek them out and propose yourself. Should you fail to get a reverse proposal when you meet the criteria for one, skip feeding the dog for a day and try again the next morning.
The wedding event will begin when you wake up and end at 8 PM that day. Afterward, your wedding garments and hairstyle will be unlocked in the dresser for you to wear whenever you like. If your spouse is home, the two of you can have lunch and dinner together. Examine the dining table in your house to bring up a prompt to serve up to three dishes from your rucksack. If you don't have any food to serve, you can confirm the prompt anyway to have a meal with beverages only.
There won't be any conversation or chemistry gained from doing this, only stamina recovery. You and your spouse can also celebrate your anniversaries together with a dinner party. Enter your house between 7 PM and 8 PM on the day you were married to trigger an anniversary dinner with your spouse and child, if he or she is fully grown. Like other special occasions, you will be reminded in your dreams whenever this date is looming.
There is no penalty or dialogue for failing to celebrate this event. In order to get married to a candidate, you will first need to complete all four of their love events. You can witness all four events for every candidate before making a final decision who to marry, but once you are engaged or wedded all unfinished love events will no longer trigger. Love events will not occur with characters of the same sex, so if you wish to see a particular candidate's cutscenes, you will need to play as the opposite sex.
The event names used below were coined by me for labeling and formatting purposes, and do not exist in-game. The names used for the main characters Jimmy-Dean and Violet are not official ones, so mentally replace them with your own character's name. Th-Thanks for those flowers the other day The flowers from your place are so I j-just love them! You were the first one to find this wonderful place. Seriously though, you impress me! I could never go out and till the fields and all that stuff like you do. I'm the delicate, ladylike type! You won't catch me lifting anything heavier than a spoon! You don't have to laugh at me quite that much! The conversation continues for some time, and the scene shifts to the end. There I go chitchatting again! Am I bugging you? I'm so, so sorry! You just have to tell me when you're too busy to talk I think chitchatting with you is a lot of fun, actually. So let's do it again! You saved me there! I just can't deal with critters! When I see one, I just freeze up! What do you mean by that? Why wouldn't there be something that scares me? I owe you one! What's that supposed to mean?! I guess you're one of those guys a girl can count on Ha ha ha ha! But if I get cornered by a critter again, I'm calling you, okay? What would YOU know, dummy? Everybody has a weakness! And I ended up saying something really rude to a customer at the shop The customer was kind enough to just laugh it off, but I think I need to fix that habit I have! I dunno about that But hearing you say it makes me think it might be possible, Jimmy-Dean. When I look at you, I feel like I can handle anything!
Thanks for listening to me blab! Lot of help you are! I can do it if I put my mind to it! Jimmy-Dean, do you have a sec? You have a kitchen at your house, right? Just let me use your kitchen, okay? However the foundations of the Theatre remained buried in what is now modern-day Shoreditch until unearthed in Straying further from the pilgrimage routes, you may find yourself in the atmospheric Medieval heart of London: This was once the entrance to a grand priory for the Knights Hospitalier — the Order of St John, formed in to protect pilgrims to Jerusalem.
This lofty position involved editing and censoring all public entertainments for potential treasonous or blasphemous content. Incidentally, Queen Victoria gifted the gatehouse back to the order of St John who still base their offices here today as the only heraldic order of chivalry still in operation: Other Shakes-centric locations in the district include the site of the Red Bull, converted into a theatre from an Inn. To leave Clerkenwell now, we follow the old line of the lost river Fleet, completely covered over in the 19th century to form a storm-drain.
Eventually we arrive at Fleet Street which becomes the equally famous thoroughfare known simply as Strand. Off this iconic street are the original headquarters on another order of chivalry — the legendary Knights Templar. By the time of Shakespeare, the Knights had been long since disbanded; the crowned heads of Europe were highly uncomfortable with a massive private army answerable only to the Pope and their labyrinth of chambers, chapels and grand halls were now home to a community of Lawyers, The Inns of Middle and Inner Temple.
Along with Hampton Court Palace in Surrey, this hall remains one of the very few original Shakespearean performance spaces still standing! Albeit one requiring major reconstruction after being bombed in World War II. These remarkable sights really deserve a full-length article devoted to each of them!
Bizarre histories, strange characters and a heady mix of cultures crossing all classes and professions. This tonne monolith is by far and away the oldest structure in London: Nearly years old. How did it end up here on the banks of the Thames? It was one of two matching obelisks, created to guard the entrance to The Temple of the Sun in Heliopolis: A city mentioned in the bible as the City of On, at the outskirts of Cairo.
This monolith has been inscribed with Hieroglyphics of prayers to Ra the sun God. It remained lying in the sand for another 70 years until a solution was found: They would turn it into a boat! All went well until a massive storm broke is if from nowhere and the Cleopatra began to sink in the tempest tossed waters and her crew had to abandon ship.
The Cleopatra was found drifting about in the ocean by another British Steamer and it was towed to a Spanish port. The statues are actually facing the wrong way and should be guarding the needle rather than looking at it. The base of the needle is also made of bronze — they put a time-capsule in there containing a bus timetable, a disposable razor and pictures of the 10 best looking women in London.
Many people believed that the monument was cursed after all this bad luck: Occultists believe this curse may have been placed on the monolith by the Pharaoh Rameses II who modified the original hieroglyphics on the needle in BC, to change it from prayers to Ra the sun-god, to prayers about himself! It is said when the wind howls across the crest of Shooters Hill, the folk of Eltham, South London, draw their shutters and bolt their doors.
For over the shrieks of the gale can still be heard the howls and lamentations of Lady James as her spirit waits eternally in her dark, crumbling tower of heartbreak….. This derelict Gothic tower stands abandoned and forlorn in a clearing of Oxleas Wood, overlooking seven counties with a grim, brooding aspect.
