In thrillers, I don't need to connect to them in order for a story to work for me and that was what happened in this case. At the point when LAPD analyst Danny Maguire touches base at a wrongdoing scene, his life is always showed signs of change. Can Danny convince his boss to re-open the case and will he ever learn what really happened to Angela all those years ago?
The characters, especially the Angel of the Dark, were extremely well developed. The Angel was such a mystery. Her characteristics were surprising and her gall unbelievable. Matt Daley was love besotted to the nth degree, and I could only pity him. I was glad that Danny, the only light of reason in the entire book, was part of the novel, for he was the only normal person in the novel at times.
Overall, I enjoyed the novel, but it did leave me with an weird taste in my mouth and the pure evil and darkness that resides and is acted upon in some people. Why wasn't Frankie given a chance to speak his side of the story? Was the violence a turn on for him? What was her motive? Was it Matt, out of sheer jealousy? Sofia, who is supposed to be the "angel of death" is potrayed from the beginning till the unraveling of the mystery as a hypnotizing ravishing goddess that is every freaking man's dream yet this helpless, naive, lost victim of a psycho? How is she the angel of death then when she is not shown to be guilty of even one murder, not even of Carlos'?
Having resided in Mumbai, there were so many geographical mistakes there. Like a local street was named "Marathi" which is the local language and no such place exists o. O Ok seriously, I could have just looked past the huge loopholes that other reviewers have pointed if only Tilly Bagshawe could have told us who manipulated whom? Or whether Sophia was really mentally sick or just a smart psycho since she pulled up such an intelligent stunt in the end that would have gladly earned her the title of angel of the dark or death or whatever.

I like sub-story plots, but the one in India? Oh, the thrilling plot. I liked the plot, but never loved it. The continuous killings were already expected, with the murderer hopping from the next victim to the other.
But, as the air-headed girl I was, I never did, even once, think about whatever or suspected anyone who might did the criminal and vicious acts. I just agreed with everything and just read what is about to happen. There were major, as in major , plot holes in the story. I had already expected them to tell me what happened to the previous problems and cases, like the missing paintings and why money to charities "if-I-can-easily-grasp-it-in-the-palm-of-my-hand-as-the-wives-of-all-the-rich-millionaires?
That really disappointed me. I saw many people complain about the Hong Kong public transport, and I can agree that this "little" mistake can go a long way pun not intended. It's already public transportation, how could Bagshawe get this wrong? The characters were good, I liked them. It's what their actions anger me. How in the world could Matt leave his pregnant, yes, pregnant , wife to a woman who has a bloody plastic face!?
I loathed the ending. It looks like it should be a happy ending for me and for the both of them, but it's not, like, even possible in my right mind. It's just like a twisted world where everything looks like it should be right, but will never be. In the story, things have gotten to the point where it revolves around manipulation and beauty.
It seems that every man falls for only one human, being that the woman is Lisa Baring, and I find that I do not know why or how these men came to love Lisa, but the most likely reason is because of her plastic beauty and her "hypnotic-to-me' eyes.
And I will leave my bitcoin recommended by good mythical morning, replacement for "2 cents" there. Overall, I believe she could pull this book off even without the 'Sidney Sheldon' part. It feels like she's looking for her fame within the depths of Sidney Sheldon's fame. And I think that's wrong. Either way, the plot was there, and it satisfied me.
But what makes the story so great is its ending. Them making me accept the ending and, me, spitting it out and leaves me a terrible feeling altogether. It should be 2. The ending gives away 2 stars, and the use of Sidney Sheldon's name is a weak move, and not the best one. It gives false hopes to some readers who think this is Sheldon's book.

I "liked" most of the characters good and bad and they were well written. The personal side of the story added to the case. What made me go huh?: I didn't like the end at all. I can't be more specific don't want to give stuff away BUT it kind of ruined the story for me.

I don't understand how a random chick gets to write under the legendary name of Sydney Sheldon?! She is nowhere good enough to be doing that and I find that it misleads the readers hugely! I didn't quite understand how Matt view spoiler [could fall in love with a killer and defend her 'till the very end Even going so far as to dump his pregnant wife and run after the murderess?!!?
Soooo this is exactly the SAME thing that Matt does at the end of the book - he leaves his wife and kid to be with the killer! Does that mean she will have him killed , too?!?! PLUS - what kind of a moron is he to actually be in love with a killer?!?! And I ended up hating Matt, more than the killer!

It is a bit irritating though, the way every male character seems to be smitten by the Angel and her good looks and naiveness, even when the truth is evident. The end is quite predictable, except off course the last page. That leaves you wondering for a while. Has justice truly been served?????
It is not a great work of literature like Doyle or Dickens, if you are expecting so , but a typical Sydney novel, some satisfy you, some leave you in doubt, and some leave you wanting more. She knew it was only a matter of time before there would be a lot more people on their case. It would, then, be difficult to get away with these proceedings as easily. She figured out a plan to use her last heist as a way of disappearing off the face of the earth. With exorbitant planning, she let Danny, Matt and David Ishag the unsuspecting supposed last victim who had been pulled in the loop by Danny catch up with her.
The hushed murder of Frances followed, the motive being revenge for his abuse on her dormant side all these years. After this was done, she met up with Matt, the one man left who was ready to go any lengths to protect her or vouch for her. Carlos, unfortunately, had to be killed by her in the process, seeing as he was the only one apart from Matt who knew about her being alive and her whereabouts.
All she wanted, after killing Carlos, was a fleeting moment of happiness with Matt. But, Matt did the inexcusable. He made the mistake of leaving his wife and unborn child, becoming another one of the men Sofia loathed. In the end, I like to think Sofia Basta got her happy ending. She was in the story she had always wished to be in. This was literally the most stupid analysis of the book ive read so far. Makes it look like youve not even read the book properly, lol.
