We will of course be looking for Ride Makers in as well, but details of our roles will be given much later as the event next year draws closer. In return we provide a fully signposted route, marshals, water and snack stops, a supper before the ride starts, free car parking at Royal Windsor Racecourse, pink hi-viz cycling vest, cycle number, medal, roaming bicycle mechanics and first aid support etc.

The more money raised by participants on the challenge the higher the percentage of funds that directly support the work of the three charities. You need to bring your own bike and a cycling helmet is essential. It is also essential that you have front and rear lights fitted on your bike. Please bring spare batteries too.

We provide bike mechanics but do ask that you bring a spare inner tube that is specific to your bike, should you get a puncture on the challenge. The cycle route is all on road — therefore we recommend using a road or hybrid bike. If you plan to use a mountain bike we would advise fitting road tyres for the challenge. You are also more than welcome to use an electric bike.

We recommend that your bike is serviced before the challenge to minimise the chance of any mechanical problems.

Bike hire is available from British Bike Hire www. Please ensure you book your bike online well in advance. A number of the women who will take part in this exciting challenge will have little or no fitness level when they sign up.

It is vital that you follow the Highway Code throughout the challenge. Please note that there will not be road closures on this challenge. The route is well lit and on quieter roads wherever possible - however once you arrive in central London there will be traffic and you should be confident to deal with this.

When can I go?

We recommend that you don't ride alone at any part of the challenge. We also ask that you respect the local residents along the route and keep noise levels to a minimum. There will be a safety briefing online and a short safety briefing prior to setting off on the night of the challenge. It is very important that you are visible to road users.

It is essential that you have working front and rear bicycle lights for the duration of the challenge and that you bring spare batteries for them. It is recommend that you wear additional hi-viz clothing. There will be bike mechanics at the start of the challenge, at all of the rest stops and roaming mechanics along the route. We recommend servicing your bike before the challenge and that you bring a spare inner tube that is specific to your bike.

We have public liability insurance. The resulting music did not adhere to any classical formal patterns, yet it was characterized by a high degree of structural coherence. One of the most interesting works from this period, which began with Sibelius's Symphony No.

Earlier he had explained to his English biographer, Rosa Newmarch, that the symphonic poem portrayed "the inner experiences of an average man riding alone through the forest gloom, sometimes glad to be alone with Nature, sometimes awe-struck by the stillness or the strange sounds which break it, but thankful and rejoicing in the daybreak.

The first half of the piece, the "Night Ride," is dominated by a single, galloping rhythmic figure an alternation of long and short notes in a fairly fast tempo that appears in the violas and cellos after a brief and startlingly abrupt introduction. The volume and orchestration of this rhythmic motif is sometimes louder and fuller, sometimes softer and thinner, and its melodic shape is either linear ascending-descending or circular hovering around certain pitches.

The rhythm remains unchanged for almost eight minutes but the pitches are never predictable.

At a certain point, a new static and immutable new theme, marked lugubre and played by the woodwind, is superimposed on the gallop. Then a woodwind theme falls away and the galloping rhythm becomes more mysterious through the increased use of chromatic half-steps and is eventually smoothed out into a succession of even sixteenth-notes as the "lugubrious" second theme returns, now played by the strings. The relentless repetitions of this motif have caused one commentator to refer to the piece as "proto-minimalist. This new theme, which symbolizes the sunrise, is, then, organically connected to the first half the piece, the night ride.
