This book is full of scriptural wisdom and smart advice. Yes, as Christian parents we need to pray. However, we also need to take action through words and the example we set. I found the advice about sometimes just listening particularly helpful. This well written book gives a starting point for interaction with adult children who have left the faith.
I am on my second reading-this time working through the steps given. There are concrete things that we can do to try to turn our children's hearts back to the Lord. First we first search our own hearts make sure we are fully in tune with God. Then, we turn our hearts toward our children, then eventually they turn their hearts toward the Lord.
It is not an easy self-help book, but a deeply thought-provoking, encouragement.
It is not hopeless, but it does require determination to get serious with God, and pray, pray, pray. Loved the examples and principles used. Good for parents of young children up to adult children. Well worth the time to read and heed. I haven't finish this yet.
