The only things I have had that were genuinely 'gold wrapped' were the Genuine Swiss chocolates in a tin I had some time ago! Hell, they were gooood!!
The word 'Gold' is a very hypnotic thing. Even aluminum plated in gold draws our attention. But that is just the nature of the beast. You can always pose a white stainless watch as platinum, and sometimes get away with it.
Still a bit light, but close. However, everything in yellow gold, pink gold or 'purple gold' deserves to be handled.
Or fondled [for you horny guys'. But the buck stops there after you notice how light it is. Now that deserves a drink. Perhaps, after two or three, it might convince us that it is indeed gold!!! I love you all guys. Lets all be well informed and smart.
The forum is an information mecca. But, we have to sometimes do a bit of homework.
And good for the soul. This has been discussed on other forums as well. It is an old thread, but very much valid to this day: The Rep fairy did not post on that thread!! Did anyone get the watch yet? BP pumping out Rollie's because Noob bought a ton of gens and is ready to release soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Noobs are disappointments I don't get why people anticipate them so eagerly.
The only good one was the v6s, but that needed gem inserts and crystals. It's a cheap and low quality watch. The bp dd are quite good.
Maybe noob will make a decent one, but my comment is about how silly it is to expect a fake watch manufacturer to make legendary quality. It arrived Color difference is even more noticeable in person. What is on the left and what is on the right?
Sent from my iPhone 7 Plus using Tapatalk. A lot of them just don't have the time to devote to stripping out and rethinking a large sub-system or all the assets in a completely different way to gain the optimisation necessary. For simpler games that's less of a problem, but more complex titles, much harder.
Just like Carmack said recently, optimisation is a lost art and very few developers have an interest in it now or the time for it. The Ninety-Ninety rule applies to the problem of optimisation, particularly well.
They've fine-tuned and developed methods customised for the games they write. Even there, most of the low-level developers have switched or left the companies and the newer ones just learn how to use the systems left in place at a higher-level probably not optimally, due to lack of documentation or not understanding the workings sufficiently to use it to the best.
This makes it harder to get a 'quick' VR implementation added to their prior projects. It is a financial risk that will almost never pay off.
That's why VR developers should be treated more as investors than anything else. They see the potential in the platform, and are willing to take the risks, and burn the cash that others just aren't aren't willing to do. Congrats on finding that post regarding vr and frostbite. I was looking for it a year ago to prove a point. I played Squad in vr because I happened to have my rift attached during play. Unreal engine took over and the game just worked. It's a combination of money, return on investment and fear.
Some devs just seem to scared to dabble in vr. Everybody focuses on the extra work for vr, but nobody mentions the work you can simply throw out. Assuming you're dealing with a genre that exists on flat screen and vr. I have VorpX, and got WoW working in vr after 10min of config messing around and it's fucking glorious. Someone's hack program fake-rendering 3D geometry with godawful controls that lock the screen to your face if you dont hold a button. Gonna iron out the kinks when I'm off work and spend hours just running around Ironforge.
Vid from my last stream here: Skyrim vr is a dream come true for me but there are plenty of other Games that i would love to see in vr: Oculus spend around mio last year for vr content. They should have spent some money on vr ports. We need games like lone echo to show the magic of vr but also games like skyrim vr to give gamers a justified reason to spent dollars.
They definitely dont buy a vr headset just for beatsaber. They need to have a variety of big games that justify vr against flat gaming. More ports might be nice but a whole crap load of people do buy a system specifically for beat saber. It appeals especially to adults that want exercise.
My guess would be that VR just isn't profitable enough right now to support the kind of AAA budget you're looking for. At the same time, not having such titles might be holding VR back, because there is no system selling software. Kind of a chicken and the egg type dilemma. Personally I think there are plenty of smaller budget, indie titles worth playing, and all the polish in the world won't make a game fun if the core mechanics aren't right: That's what I look for more than anything.
I'm into horror games and right now I don't have enough time to play all the decent VR horror games that are out there right now. VR is small -- really really really small compared to the traditional gaming market -- no smart stakeholder who can fund a project in the tens of millions of dollars is going to bet that money in VR right now when it's much riskier than betting it elsewhere.
So how does the VR market eventually get there? Genuine successes developers who make profit hopefully lead to new, larger experiences. And over time, alongside the growth of the audience, those more ambitious games will come. I think Oculus' Head of Content, Jason Rubin, did a great of articulating the challenges of growing an ecosystem to support AAA content in this interview last year.
To your point about ports, we've seen some but they haven't exactly been great. There are elements that you or I as enthusiasts can overlook for the good bits, but the wider appeal isn't really. I'm really glad that you enjoy it. I look forward to the day when a game of Skyrim's scale is made from the ground up for VR and pulls in a large audience! I thought Raptor Labs was doing it for you? You were on your knees for them just yesterday, I guess the taste in your mouth wasn't as pleasant today.
Rockstar already said they haven't given up on the VR, so there is a hope that all these studios are working on big games for 2nd gen VR. I feel like too many of us are too entitled.
We just aren't large enough a player base to afford it. Plus I think there are many, many fantastic games. Lone echo, robo recall, payday 2, elite dangerous, pavlov, etc. I'd frankly rather play those games than a pancake game anyday. I actually am not drawn to pancake at all after having played vr. You have just lowered your entry level barrier. Everything is more fun in vr, but after the fade off phase you start craving real titles that keeps you hooked for months and longer.
From the games you mentioned, i can only play pavlov, and that also took a long time to become acceptable for me. Ever thought about looking into cockpit sims? These are not just full blown games where VR can provide an advantage over pancake, they are often full blown hobbies in themselves. I can enjoy a bit of racing in VR, but I could never get convinced to realistic VR flight simulators - I feel like there is too much learn curve to do, and I really prefer more "arcadey" feel of BF3 vehicle handling.
I spent many many hours in the air when playing BF3 back in the day. Felt like an extension of my body. I do find it somewhat grating when naysayers diss VR as 'just a gimmick', completely writing off how much of a gamechanger it already has been for an entire longstanding genre s. To me, its more of a very essential piece of kit in achieving immersion alongside a steering wheel and flight stick. Not sure how you can't like those games. If you don't like them then yes, you might as well sell.
I don't think I've lowered my standard at all. I just prefer shorter games and immersion over flat, way less immersive pancake games that sometimes feel like they drag on to me. I really don't feel this is the case.
A lot of people have very unrealistic expectations about what the technology actually is capable off. It's going to take at least 4 to 5 years to get to a point where a lot of what we'd call "power users" will find this tech compelling, and maybe another 5 after that so that everyone and their mother wants to use it.
The technology is perfectly capable of running smoothyl games as advanced as 7 year old Battlefield 3 VR. All we need is just adjusting touch mechanics Menus aren't that big of an issue -SteamVR gets away with 2D point click menus, and so does nearly all other games. Honestly, when most people still can find games they love but you can't, well I don't think the problem is in the games.
Dust yourself off and start again. This is your time in life to be selfish. Make sure you take enough money with you to cover it, just to be on the safe side! Take the time to get to know each other. Just because a date has been arranged does not mean that you have a ready-made relationship. Lap up all the attention and make the most of it. Enjoy it, have fun!
