Sprinkle coconut, chocolate chips, and walnuts onto the crust. Drizzle condensed milk over the top. Bake at for min. Cool completely and chill in the fridge before serving or the crust can crumble. Calories Calories from Fat Comments I was looking for a low carb dessert recipes and came across this cookie bar recipe! They look simple to make and very delicious! Thanks for posting this recipe! Looking forward to making these this weekend! Thank you for the recipe!! What blend of sweetener could I buy at the store?
I wanted to make this today, but only have Splenda on hand. I'm not sure if splenda should work.
I've had readers use truvia before. This is my husbands favorite dessert, pre low carb, low sugar diet. When I saw this I made it right away and he was amazed at how good it was. Simmer at a low rolling boil for min, cool down I usually place my pan in cold water. Can I use THM baking mix for the crust with butter? If so how much? And can I use confectioners swerve? Yes, use a little less baking blend. And yes, but you will need more swerve. It isn't as sweet. So, how much baking blend total would you suggest? And yes, I noticed that Swerve isn't too sweet.
Used 1 tablespoon in a choc mug cake and couldn't even taste it! I am also using shredded unsweetened coconut and almonds toasted a little , I am also omitting the egg it sounds gross Sorry hope it comes out good! The egg helps the topping firm up but it can be omitted.
I would use 1 tablespoon less when using baking blend. If you use the finely shredded coconut you will need to make extra condensed milk or the bars will be dry. The finely shredded coconut absorbs moisture much more than the flakes. I have Natvia, but not sure how much to use. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Kay Condor. Hi Kay, I'm not familiar with Natvia. The sweetener I use is twice as sweet as sugar.
Do you know how Natvia compares to sugar? Thanks for getting back to me. It is a erythritol, and Steviol blend. Probably would have to double your quantity Do you think.
I would make these again, the top was really good - BUT I would omit the flax seed and just use almond and coconut flour with butter. All I could taste is the flax for some reason it overpowered the whole recipe. I cut off the bottom and just ate the top. Hi Pam, did you use regular flax or the golden flax? I find the flavor of the golden flax to be milder. Thanks so much for this keeper of a recipe! My very picky husband and kids like it a bunch! I added flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds to amp up the fiber bit since they don't do coconut. I added in a tiny bit of almond flour to help with the consistency.
Your homemade condensed milk is awesome. They are absolutely amazing and do not taste low carb or sugar free. Thank you for the recipe. I just found you website and want to make these ASAP. Can I use Swerve sweetener instead? I have all the other ingredients, so if I can use the Swerve, then I am good to go tomorrow! The Trim Healthy Mama sweetener and my blend are a combo of xylitol, erythritol, and stevia.
Joy's Cooking In Montana Volume 2 was composed, as so many recipes are, out of need. I had no experience cooking wild game. I learned as I went along. The result is Joy's Cooking In Montana Volume 2 that I would like to share with you. Each recipe has been tried and tested and is truly a.
Swerve should work but you will need more. I think just almond flour would work but I haven't tried it. I tested these on my kids this weekend. They were a hit! Thanks so much for sharing! The hardest part of THM for me is breakfast and sweets. But I have now found my favorite THM snack! Gonna try more of your recipes. I have a bunch pinned and waiting. I made these for church Sunday and everyone was amazed and loved them.
More so that they were sugar free and low carb! About to make again so I can actually eat some! I made these today to take on a road trip.
There will be lots of tempting foods on this trip and I wanted to be prepared with treats that my husband and I can eat with a cup of coffee. I did make a couple of changes. I added a couple of teaspoons of sugar free caramel coffee flavoring syrup in the crust. I used some Sukrin Gold in the condensed milk recipe, which gave it a nice brown sugar flavor.
I also toasted coarsely chopped macadamia nuts to use for the nuts. These are fabulous and hope we still have some for the second day of snacking. Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I really think this is the best low carb treats recipe I have made so far. Could you remind me what percent is "heavy cream"? I have 18 and 35 percent. Hi, I absolutely love the look of these.
Unfortunately I don't eat nuts so would sub the walnuts for seeds but do you have any advice on what I could sub the almond flour for? Many thanks in advance. Briana Thomas has a nut free baking mix on her blog that should work. What if I only have super sweet? Can I use that in a smaller amount? I think super sweet would be fine in this recipe. You use half the amount. I made these yesterday to take to a BBQ.
Must say they were delish. I cooked a little to long each oven is different IMO, but I'll adjust that for next time. YES there will be a next time and soon. D Easy and delicious. A week or two in the fridge. They freeze well also. If they last that long ;. Thank you so much for sharing this delicious recipe! These were great even though I made mistakes!
My crust crumbled because I didn't wait for the bars to cool like the recipe instructs. I did not mind scarfing down the toasty deliciousness with a spoon! The bigger problem I had was subbing liquid dropper stevia for the THM in the sweetened condensed milk. This seems to have caused me to not have enough milk. Next time I'll just make more to compensate for the volume lost by using liquid stevia! I tried making these today It was looking perfect when I removed the pan from the heat to cool. When I came back to it in about 20 min to add the yolk, it was all crystallized.
I added the egg anyway but it wasn't good. Any idea what I did wrong? Did you use gentle sweet? I normally only wait about 5 minutes before adding the egg.
Sugar alcohols do re-crystallize when cold. Any way to make this without the heavy cream? Would cashew cream or coconut cream work? I'm good with the butter, but can't do the heavy cream. You can sub in coconut milk but you may need to cook it longer. Thank you for the recipe Do you know the nutritional breakdown?
The micro garden Lunch with the girls Happy companions. My recipe does have egg yolk though. Just as Joy changed the lives of its authors, and of millions of Americans, it has itself been transformed into something very different from what it was at its birth. Escoffier's recipes are nothing like the well-ordered lists and procedures found in the latest Joy. I actually posted your question on my Facebook page hoping another reader had tried it. D Easy and delicious.
I just added a nutrition breakdown to the bottom of the post: Do you think you could maybe add thm protein powder to the crust to make it more of a protein bar type of thing without changing the taste? I absolutely loved it as is without the coconut but wondered how protein powder would affect it. If you try it let me know how they turn out. I made a large batch of thm sweetened condensed milk SCM to store and use for holiday baking. How much SCM does this recipe produce? I'd like to use my prepared SCM to make this.
My recipe does have egg yolk though. You may want to add one if you are using a different condensed milk recipe. I'll have to follow your recipe completely next time.
The only problem is they were too good, and they are already almost gone! I'm easily a Turtle if I don't control myself. I can easily stack my fuels and this is dessert is an easy fuel stacker for me. Your recipes are some of my favorite from the THM bloggers world. You seem to have got the knack for combining ingredients and creating dishes that even the Grinchiest THM opposer we all know one or two have to admit, "Mmm thats pretty good.
I had no experience cooking wild game. I learned as I went along, experimenting and keeping track of what worked and what did not work. I wrote everything down and slowly compiled quite a list of recipes. Each recipe has been tried and tested and is truly a wonderful meal when followed as written. I hope you and your family will enjoy these recipes as much as my family and I have. Volume Three will include more International favorites as well as a few new surprises.
