I have mixed feelings about this story, and that makes it difficult to rate. Ultimately, I think the story comes out of the very strange political atmosphere in the United States, in This is not a morality tale like Dickens' "A Christmas Carole," yet it is very much a morality tale if such a thing exists in the 21st century. Those of us who grew up hearing things like 'do unto others…' will read it in a way quite different from that of, shall we say, millennials. Short stories are more diff I have mixed feelings about this story, and that makes it difficult to rate.
Short stories are more difficult to review than are novels, or even novellas.
This is particularly true when the reviewer shares his or her opinion of the work rather than a synopsis. I don't do synopses. My goal is to spark a prospective reader's interest enough to cause said reader to find out what the story is all about for himself or herself. From my perspective, this story is a 3 star work, but my hypothetical millennial might give it a 4 or 5 star rating. Dec 24, Agust rated it liked it. I think this could be a great story if it were longer, explain the Christmas Spirit and why it's a requirement.

I won't go into details about the plot, but suffice it to say, not your typical Christmas tale. On the other hand, if you're familiar with Brian James Freeman's writing, this is about what you would expect it to look like.

Moore rated it liked it. Not what I expected The story kept me interested all the way to the end. I love stories with sappy endings, which I thought this story had. Did not like the ending, the old couple getting shot. That killed the story for me. Will read something else from this author just for comparison. Dec 22, James rated it really liked it. I'm not sure what this story was even about. It's the real world ladies and gentlemen It contains five heart-warming tales for the holiday season. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Will read something else from this author just for comparison.
