But when we believe what God's word says about us, our lives begins to change. We will grow in the Fruit of the Spirit and others will be able to taste and see that the Lord is good. Lara's book is an invaluable resource for those of us who want to mature in the Christian life - and have the Lord say to us when we get to heaven, "Well done! This is the first book I read from Fruit of Spirit series and I can tell you that I can't wait to dive into the next book.

    This book speaks truth the whole time I was reading my spirit was leaping for joy. Whether you are new in your walk with God or have been walking with him a long time you can still learn from this book. For new beginners it's like food for the spirit, you will get spiritually fed. Overall good book, I plan on reading the whole series, if you have a kindle like me you can borrow for free but these books are so good that I just have to order them for my book collection.

I pulled this book off the "library" shelf to re-read because self-control was our life group's focus for the week. What stood out to me this time is our need to make a conscious choice.

    Selah-pause and think about it. Be slow to act instead of knee jerk impulses and allow the power to overcome with which you have armed yourself gain victory in the situation. So often I struggle with self control. My mind always wanders and there I am focusing on things that aren't helpful: In this book I found so much encouragement for when I am in those moments.

    It reminded me that I can choose what I think and what I think will be how I act. Sometimes it's difficult to always have the strength to resist the enemy and those negative thoughts, but God is always there and all we need to do is choose HIM! This is an excellent book to help you understand the fruit of the Spirit.

    I love the way she breaks-down each fruit and then summarizes each with a prayer. In her analysis she gives the opposite of the fruit which is helpful because you will find out you may be show some of those behaviors. I bought extra copies for some friends so we can study it together and encourage one another. This book would be excellent for a bible study group. It was very easy read understandable scripture relevant and purposeful.

    It has a remarkable sense of personhood and relevance to readers experiences. Like Lara, my greatest weakness is self-control.

    This book reminded me of the mindset I ought to change for the better good of me. More importantly, this book quoted most if not all of the Bible verses I need. We all have the ability to have self-help through the Holy Spirit whom lives within born believers of Jesus Christ. This is indeed one of the most important gifts that The Holy Spirit gives us as we have the power to overcome sin through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
