I was a fan of the recently cancelled TV series, but it took me a long time to start reading this series of books. The 1st installment Naked Heat was a good mystery and reminiscent of the early days of the TV show. Thus I would strongly recommend this Book to Castle fans looking for more now that the show is gone.
I'm giving this book 4 stars instead of 5 since the writing wasn't as polished as it could have been and the general mystery wasn't difficult to solve, though some of the details of the crime were more difficult to decipher ahead of time. During the recent contract negotiations over a new "Castle" TV series season, I went looking for an alternative I've seen most of them and wanted more. I settled on reading the Nikki Heat NH book series. I've read six of the seven NH volumes - the seventh just became available as a preorder.
As this is the first volume, it is most likely the one any prospective reader will use to make a decision on whether to start reading the books I'll discuss it in light of the other volumes.

I truly think all volumes are equally well written as to characters, plots, dialogue, story and keeping the reader's interest. Superb in all factors. I started the first on June 10 and just finished the sixth today 22 June.

This is not to brag about reading speed but to indicate how well each and every volume kept my interest although they were read consecutively. Whatever I say concerning this volume applies equally for all. In the first place, these are not mere rehashes of the 7 years of TV shows. While there may be slight overlap with the TV shows e. I found no books borrowing so closely from the TV shows as to make them repetitions of each other.
I guess I'm saying you should read this volume to see if it holds your interest. If so, you'll most likely enjoy any or all of the others - even if you have been following the TV series. Beckett] are in all of the book they are told from HER prospective [hey, she's the detective and the one most involved in all of the action] with his part being supportive. As indicated, there is violence and sexual content but not Marquis De Sade nor Penthouse.
If you like the TV episodes, I know you'll be interested in the books. I still think you'll like there books. As a fan of the TV show, I thought it was cute and fun that the fictional character of Richard Castle is being used as a real writer. I wouldn't be a true fan if I didn't read his made-up novels. I read the Storm novels and thought they were entertaining. I decided to read the first Nikki Heat novel and was a wee-bit disappointed. But all in all it was still very entertaining.
There were a few 'dry' filler chapters and then there were a few suspenseful moments, pretty much like the TV show. All About the Goddess is building up some momentum since its debut. Readers seen to like the Isis series. I will try to work on two new Isis books this year. Still running ideas in my head for them. While some have complained about the length, they seem to keep coming back to download it.
Really disappointed in that. I put a lot of heart into that story and to see it perform so poorly was disheartening. My new novel, The Thetas has been a hit since its May debut. The book has performed so strongly that I feel confident enough about taking the title out of the KDP Select program and releasing the title on Smashwords and Nook later in On Kindle, not so hot.
The Second part of the Simp Trilogy is not only a hit in America, but all over the world. The final part of the Simp Trilogy The Misadventures of Captain-Save-A-Hoe has been a breakout hit since its November Debut with over downloads on Smashwords and downloads on Smashwords affiliates in less than 30 days! Misadventures is well on its way to becoming just as popular as the other two books in the Simp Trilogy. In addition to the dozen titles I published, I wrote over blogs. Currently the blog has gotten over , hits.
