My Shadow Children , C. When I was a very little boy, I used to stay round my Nana's house fairly regularly. Every time I did, she would tuck me up in bed and sing this poem to me in her beautiful, soothing voice Most every night when they're in bed, And both their little prayers have said, They shout for me to come upstairs And tell them tales of gypsies bold,. What a delight to picture the scene this poem frames. A family whose children are cherished and parents mature in their love. Thank you for posting. It's a great way to teach our children to think about the intentions of others even though they can be nice. The mountain and the squirrel Had a quarrel, And the former called the latter "Little prig. I do not remember how I came across this poem, but ever since I knew it, it has been my favorite. A little squirrel standing up for itself against the mighty mountain and putting it in place The other night 'bout two o'clock, or maybe it was three, An elephant with shining tusks came chasing after me.

This is truly a great poem describing the vivid imagination of children, and it does seem that children have an even deeper imagination when it comes to bedtime! I think this is a great poem These are my two drops of rain Waiting on the window-pane. I agree that a good scare is usually expected and enjoyed, but young kids must know all the way that everything is going to be all right in the end, they expect that as well.
Of course the older kids get, the more they can handle. And of course every kid is different and matures at a different pace.
