Their wings have a spattering of blue dots on them, and the male Laughing Kookaburra might have some blue feathers above its tail. Adult Laughing Kookaburras will find a lifetime partner. They build their nests in tree holes and will come back to the same tree hole every year.
Laughing Kookaburras are very family-centered. Young birds stay with their parents to help raise the newest batch of baby Laughing Kookaburras. These helpers will assist their parents to keep the eggs warm, protect the nest, and care for the babies when they hatch. The helpers stay with their parents until they're about four years old, when they find mates for themselves and leave the family group.
The chicks don't have any feathers and their eyes are closed when they hatch. Laughing Kookaburras are carnivores , which means they eat other animals. Although other birds in the kingfisher family mostly eat fish, kookaburras prefer other food, such as insects, worms, reptiles, frogs, and mice.
