Please help MuseTracks welcome Kathleen S. My name is Kathleen S. When she finds a book of rules on how to be famous in ten days in a secondhand bookstore she decides to follow the rules and become famous. One disastrous event after another occurs, some of them humorous, some are more serious as she follows each rule.
Feel free to go on my Amazon Central page to check them out too. See below for the link. Or the lyric essay. Or in addition to. My journey continued as I learned to read and write letters. I started with poetry and then graduated to short stories then novels. Blogs, guest posts this one for instance , websites I have two author ones , Facebook status updates on my fan page and Twitter tweets. Among other writerly things. BUT, my all time favorite thing to write is Young Adult anything. Yes, I read YA.
I can sit for hours in a bookstore reading snippets of books. A writer needs to first be a reader. I really enjoyed it, as it was just the break I needed from all my fantasy novels! Review first published on my blog, Pieces of Whimsy This was a very quick, light read, but with a great underlying message; to embrace who you are and show the world you matter. The book follows Cassie, a double-digit-sized seventeen year old struggling to be seen in a society where thin, graceful beauty rules.
Cassie's bestfriend is Rachel. Rachel is pretty, a size two and she receives attention from guys everywhere she goes. After a chance encounter with a 'how to be famous..
Some of the situations seemed a little ridiculous to me and since I couldn't relate at all, I sometimes found myself feeling a little distant from the character. I couldn't see myself doing half the things Cassie and her friends did, which put me at a disadvantage as it turned the reality of the book into someting less so.
I still really enjoyed their mini adventures and still felt close enough to the story and characters to experience the emotional journey they went through. I think my two favourite characters were Chuck and Watson. I liked everyone else, though Rachel's silliness was sometimes a bit too much, but it was the boys that really stole my heart. Their characters were just fantastic and I could really see myself being friends with them. How to be Almost Famous in Ten Days is a really uplifting book.
I loved the fact that the main character was not a skinny-mini, and didn't try to be. She wasn't happy with her appearnce yet instead of trying to change it, she tried to change the way in which people saw her, she tried to become the cool, confident person she wanted to be and I really respected that. This book was a really refreshing read and I casually devoured it in an afternoon.
Favorite Posts What I Loved: This in no way affects the thoughts expressed in my review. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. But there were a few moments here and there that proved insightful when it came to a character's true feelings and motivations. I really enjoyed it and wish there had been more. This interesting little book, a novella really, is something of an old-fashioned morality tale but with a modern theme, although teenage angst and insecurity have been around since, well, since teenagers first existed. Reviewed by Lelia Taylor, June She sees who she wants to see, the friend who is there for her when she is sad or stressed out.
I thought that if only a few people could see me, then I would count. I would be visible enough to make a difference in the world. It never does fully develop and at times seems to be superficial. With that being said, I would say this book does shed some light on just how far some teenagers will go to simply be seen.
Poor Cassie - she's never the one getting the attention, at least not when her gorgeous and perfect best friend Rachel is around. You see she follows all the steps, but has Rachel fill in as herself, so as to get even more attention.
Of course, the attention goes to Rachel, not Cassie - including the attention from the cute boy who works at Starbucks. Once Cassie realizes that her pl Poor Cassie - she's never the one getting the attention, at least not when her gorgeous and perfect best friend Rachel is around. Once Cassie realizes that her plan is not going quite as planned, everything changes for her. This is a great book for teens, and deals with the important topics of self-esteem and confidence - I also love how the author brings in Rachel's brother and his partner's relationship.
This was a quick and fun read and quite enjoyable. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I honestly don't know where to start. This is one of the genuinely worst books I have ever read. Not only did it lack plot, consistency, character development and a good pace, but it was terribly written - I literally had to force myself to read what I could out of this one.
Although my book blog is partly my job, reading is also for my enjoyment, and at the end of the day, I wasn't enjoying this so I stopped reading it. The concept was good, but the delivery was bad. If I had to choose between I honestly don't know where to start.
If I had to choose between reading this an rereading 50 Shades of Grey, I would choose the latter - and I hate that book dearly.
