During the course you will learn the safe use of woodworking hand tools, their sharpening and care, production of basic joining methods and the fitting of everyday ironmongery.
You will have the opportunity to visit local sites such as Keepmoat Homes , Border Oak and Oakwrights to see how work is carried out in industry, as well as benefiting from our extensive purposebuilt and fully-equipped workshops. Your dedicated teaching and apprenticeship team has a wealth of experience with strong links to many joinery and building companies. You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below. Achievement is by assessment of practical and theory units, a multiple choice online test and practical test.
All students following a full-time programme of study at HLC will study English and maths as part of their studies, please refer to the Study Programmes page of this website. Progression routes are dependent on successful completion of qualifications and meeting entry requirements.
