She is leaving them slowly — Slipping away from them — And when one dark night she vanishes entirely, the survivors are left to tell her story.
It allows the reader to see how the original volume was created, how an African American author negotiated with the tastes of the dominant literary culture of the late nineteenth century, and how that culture both promoted and delimited his work. No longer a reactionary flight of nostalgia for the antebellum South, the stories in this book celebrate and at the same time question the folk culture they so pungently portray, and ultimately convey the pleasures and anxieties of a world in transition.

The main character is a witch, daughter of a Valkyrie and has a pet Zombie in her life that makes it hard to keep down a job. Enter her love interest, a man with a pixie on his shoulder. Their meeting sparks attraction and sexual tension, very well portrayed, the tension between them was flying off the pages.
Full of originality and inventive ideas this is a very entertaining sexy story that surprises with more depth as we follow the story later on. I am not surprised that Parkerson has won awards for her writing, it is confident and competent and a pleasure to read. With the great characters and believable conflicts the story almost writes itself. A great effort Wanted: Hexed or Alive" by Charity Parkerson, part two of the Sexy Witches series is a short story that follows Randall, the apothecary and side character from book one, and a request by Rowena to remove a spell.
At 27 pages the story needs to be read, it is well written, funny and has a surprising end. This time the focus is on former Zombie Freddie and Pixie Tam. Once again Parkerson weaves supernatural elements into an entertaining romance story, a blend that works very well especially since she writes such unique, strong and likeable characters. An excellent play on the theme of a wish fulfilled - 'mirroring' the previously cursed Freddie, this story runs deeper than previous ones but is entertaining as all of Parkerson's work.
The strong attraction between them forces them to address the issues of their compatibility. A gripping and short read that needs to be experienced. Parkerson is a master at creating sexual tension and powerful magnetic vibes between her characters and this is no exception. As always this is well plotted and has excellent characterisation, has humour and is highly original and entertaining.
Twist and turns and cauldrons bubbling! Found myself actually liking Randall in this one. Love when a book can shock and surprise me! I laughed so hard in this one. I swear Skylar is my soul sister or perhaps the me of another realm. This has been my favourite story yet! Why should you read this? Oh let me tell you! The setting is in New Orleans!! Ok, how about verra sexy witches duh! I did not want this series to end! She could feel it. He was also powerful, and she was hooked. I really like the characters but could have used more world building.
There are many things that take a long time to be revealed. At first I was confused about what was happening. Ella is rather sweet and haphazard. I would have loved more build and flirtation in her relationship with Sam. Perhaps show more of her trying to cure Freddie. I liked what I saw of her, just needed more. I was a touch thrown by the Fates angle of t Book One: I was a touch thrown by the Fates angle of the plot. It will be interesting to see how that develops through the series. Love the supporting cast, Freddie,Tam and Randall were great!
I really hope we get to see their HEA. There is plenty of sizzle but it is light on the smexy details. Still, quite nice for a short read. I liked the mixed narrative, it helps you really understand both Ella and Sam. There is a bit of emotional drama, but that is par for the course with a good romance. Hexed or Alive This is an extremely short read.
But I hope it is just a teaser for a story to come. Set in the same world as the first book a little further down the time line. Looks like Randall might get a chance at love. I enjoyed finding out more about him and his magic tricks. The stories are interconnected and really kind of sweet. The story has several POV, all the mixed narrative is key for understanding everything.
The romances are mostly sweet, there is a bit of smexy detail. There is a fair share of mythology mixed into this series. I really would like the books to be longer and the world to be a but more fleshed out.
They are very intriguing and have huge potential. Tasting Temptation Oh wow!! I loved this quick little read!!! The story built up from the world of the previous books in the series. Skylar is a great sassy girl, with curves, and mostly confident. Gideon is deliciously Alpha and rather sweet. They are a great pair and it was great reading them getting together. I do wish it were longer, then we could really see those feelings develop.
The book has a mixed narrative, so you have both leads POV, which is important.
