Miracles tie connective strings through the course of this novel—none of the least of which is the way Elizabeth and Amy turn initial hostility into understanding. Another wonderful aspect of the novel is the way Owen Sullivan draws Amy into his life, and into the small-town community that is Harvest Bay. Meanwhile, Elizabeth maintains a quest to give Elijah the child for which they both dream—a quest that leads her into questionable decisions that will test her faith, and her marriage.

I was amazed when I started it one afternoon how easy it was to get into and how hard it was to put down! But, despite that, it was well-worth the time I spent reading it! I found myself totally empathizing with the main women of the story, Elizabeth and Amy. Though they were vastly different from each other in man It was so good to finally, at long last, read this book by Jen. It has a strong, but not over-bearing, Christian message, and I guarantee it will encourage and also challenge you. It deals with some tough issues in amazing ways.
It was a delight to meet up with characters I grew to know and love in HJH. I thought it was a wonderful book! All opinions are my own. It was nice to catch up on what the old characters were doing but I loved the new characters The Heart's Lullaby introduced me to, especially Elizabeth and Amy. I truly identified with both of them in many ways. Elizabeth is a woman of faith who desperately wants to be a mother, even if it means choosing a path of deception.

I don't always feel compelled to review books but in this case I do. Written by a local author and set in northern Ohio, Ohioans will enjoy the references to things we 'get'. These are more 'relationship' than 'romance' novels. You will get drawn in as each person grows in relationship with God and tries to discern God's plan. I plowed through "The Heart's Journey Home" and "The Heart's Lullaby" and am eagerly awaiting the next one, which should be out in a couple of months according to Jen's Facebook page. I can relate to Amy in so many ways.. I can also relate to Elizabeth and her infertility issues. I can look back on some situations and see that God really was there the whole time. Jen Stephens shared her deep faith throughout this book. She wove in so many of life's challenges, fears, and moments of being overwhelmed. She used all of her characters to help her readers learn more about God's plans for all of us. It is a well written book about letting go and letting God guide us to a deeper understanding of his plan for each of us.
What an amazing book! I couldn't wait to finish it. Even with strong faith, we are left to wonder why? What is God's plan? Please read this book. Great book, forgiveness and redemption! I loved the storyline flowed. I couldn't put this book down!
