With microchips implanted in humans on their right hands or foreheads as Revelation foretells , bitcoins growing as a world currency and Teen Vogue magazine chipping away at moral decency by publishing an article instructing youth on how to sodomize each other, as I see it, the Millennial generation is being prepped to discard traditional norms and embrace the mark.
I am not saying that bitcoin or microchips or Teen Vogue will be used specifically, but the technology is here. So is the cultural mindset. This is not some sensationalized scare tactic. The stage has been set. It could happen tomorrow. As Christians, what should we do? Most who have grown up in church or have been going for a while will have a checklist: We know what the manual says. We can recite the Great Commission. That is all good, but somewhere along the way, there is a misfire.
What we say we should do and what we actually do rarely match. Despite our all-too-frequent inaction, the church has the answer. The gospel can change a person in a moment. Jesus is the solution. If your heart is right and you mean it, I guarantee that you will be transformed. We have the answer, but we have too many Christian posers in the pews each Sunday. Too many were saved at a Billy Graham rally which is a very good thing , call Jesus Lord, go to Bible study, listen to Christian music—you are part of the program we call church. But at home, you watch porn or cheat on your spouse.

I expected to hate this book. I expected a few things: Instead, the book is a thoughtful, compassionate, and tasteful did you hear that? No lurid details I actually kind of wish there were more! Even in the few recriminations, about his relationships with his father and mother, Ryan is quick to accept responsibility for his own habits of mind.
Ryan tells us all of his resources: AA, an accountability group, computer software to have online accountability, retreats with monks, centering prayer, anti-depressants, and several types of cognitive therapy. There is no simplicity in the way to recovery, according to Tom Ryan.
Ryan writes, When he figured out what I was talking about, he turned beet red. You fix this on your own. I knew all about living life on your own, so it made sense. Pornography takes something very real, very human—something everyone can related to—and distorts it. Our sexuality is meant to be lived and expressed in the context of a healthy, integrated life, and pornography is never an expression of good health or integrated living. While our sexuality is but one aspect of who war are as human beings and needs to be integrated with our other aspects, pornography isolates that one human dimension and distorts it by magnifying it and minimizing it at the same time.
At the same time, it makes the magnificence of being a creature made in the image of God something as insignificant as ink on paper or pixels on a screen. Simply put, porn is uncompromising, progressive, destructive evil. What about the seemingly harmless nature of innocuous sexual gratification? Whom does it hurt? It hurts the women and men who work in the sex trade. It hurts those who patronize the sex trade.
It hurts those who live with or care about them. I admire that Ryan sees pornography as a problem in his on life, and has faced it head on. But Ryan talks about his own shame, then heaps shame on the participants in the sex industry. Yes, for some, pornography can be destructive. And yes, for some, it can distort human sexuality. But to decide, absolutely, that it is bad in all cases, goes too far. And it is touching. Mar 16, Mary Helene rated it it was amazing Shelves: Well-written, moving and important.

A beautiful story of the gospel and its power to heal, reconcile and redeem. It is the story of all of us, our brokenness, addictions and the role God longs for His children to play in one another's lives. It is the journey for each of us to understand the gift of our sexuality, to have it defined by God and not distorted by a dis-integrated culture.
Thank you Tom and Pam. May 23, Dermot O'Sullivan rated it really liked it. In this account of his experience of and recovery from sex addiction Tom Ryan has a produced a highly useful resource for Christian sufferers.
However, there are a couple of things about the book that prospective reader needs to know. Firstly, it is mostly a commentary on the nature of sex addiction rather than a full length autobiography.
Secondly, his account doesn't detail the exact nature of his sexual behaviours. Instead, there are general, sometimes even woolly references to pornography bu In this account of his experience of and recovery from sex addiction Tom Ryan has a produced a highly useful resource for Christian sufferers. Instead, there are general, sometimes even woolly references to pornography but that's as far as it goes.
Ryan does in fairness address his reasons for this vagueness. The main point here is that anyone picking up this title intent on a salacious read will be very disappointed. The biographical details are delivered piecemeal throughout the book with the analysis in between. Its an interesting structure and one that works.
Ashamed No More contains many Biblical references as it is clearly aimed at a Christian audience. So if that is going to upset you then you need to go elsewhere.
