I was lucky enough to share a cab from the London airport to where we were staying for the study abroad program, as I had no idea what to do. Throughout that first week, I quickly fell in love with Rachel and knew that I was going to marry her someday. The following weeks included numerous hours walking around downtown London, visiting Catholic churches, and talking for hours on end just so I could hear her voice—I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her.

We had a picnic on a beach and played cards until the sunset, then we went on a walk and watched the stars. A few weeks later, I asked her to date me at the same spot where we watched the stars on our first date.
Once we started dating we continued to fall deeper in love. Very quickly we both noticed that we are a perfect fit for each other.

On September 21, , Rachel wrote me a letter, it reads: I completely, and irrevocably, love you Baxter. On February 4, , I got down on one knee, at the same place we had our first date and where I asked her to date me. But this time, I was asking her a much more important question. I was speechless because when we were in London she was sick and could not speak, so I spoke for her when we were with friends or when we needed to speak with people in public. She wrote me a letter on July 9, , and it reads: From making up dance routines, to lip synching songs, to trying out new Pinterest recipes, you have been my best friend since birth.
I could not have asked for a better role model than you. I am so happy to share this special day with you - along with my new baby nephew!
