The characters came across perfectly regarding who and what they were. The club has been established though we really do not have a concrete description of the place only pieces. The language changes for each character to show that they are individuals but because they are in the same place there are references that seem to come up all the time. I love the concept of these books. Looking for This was another perfect vignette that captured a moment which could only happen in this world.
Kelsey Almeida has lived a lot of her life in silence, she is a Siren, and her voice can make men do anything she desires. Kelsey has gone to the Last Call to find out someone who will not fall at the first word she speaks. Cain is a reaper who cannot be swayed by human emotion but does have human needs.
He finds the Siren beautiful and knows that because of the ice in his veins her voice cannot move him to obsession like a mortal man. The perfect couple once again brought together. Recommended just like the others because it is short but very entertaining, not to mention extremely hot! Mar 04, Dora-lee rated it it was amazing. This book has been another joy to me after having read all the books previously writen for the "Last Call" Series. Imagine the life you would lead just opening your mouth and say one word and men are dropping at your feet wanting to hmmm shall we say service you in anyway you or they can think of.
Though you would not really be sure if it was you they were reacting to or your voice. I know you will enjoy this as much as I did. Each story is self-contained with some minor character crossover and they are Sex-ay with a capital S. One thing I love about this series is that you get a wide variety of supernatural critters popping up.
We've seen demons, witches, and werewolves in previous books and now sirens and reapers. It keeps things interesting and I love the backdrop of a bar where magic keeps them safe and allows them to let go.
Did I mention the hot sex? Yeah, they have that, too. Although this isn't terribly long, it's a fun, imaginative addition to the series. And for those of you wondering, I'm firmly in the camp that once their time at Last Call ends, they're going to trot off and eke out a happily ever after.
One with lots of sexin'. Oct 07, Audrie Cruz-Sealey rated it it was amazing. Awesome story in the Last Call series!! Kelsey is a Siren!
Her voice lures in men and they do anything and everything that she wants. She is so tired of it! All she wants is for a man to tell her NO!! She goes to Last Call and makes sure that she keeps her mouth shut, orders a drink, and waits. A man approaches her! He is soooo good looking. She approaches him and whispers in his ear, "Take Me Right Here" She is almost done right there.
He takes her up stairs and controls the ni Awesome story in the Last Call series!! He takes her up stairs and controls the night. Cain is a Reaper of Souls Yet, he finds that her voice boils his blood. Her voice makes him feel and SHE makes him feel good. He doesn't want to let her go. Again the story ends with hope that they might be perfect for each other.
May 26, Jess the Romanceaholic rated it really liked it Shelves: Hot and steamy, with a happily ending in more ways than one - heh despite the author's warning that these stories should be considered to be erotica rather than erotic romance. I really enjoyed the fact that the heroine is a Siren and the hero is an Angel of Death -- not a combination we often see in romance, erotic or otherwise.

Perhaps the best one of the series! It's hard to think of the Grim Reaper as being sexy, but Cain most certainly is, and he is the perfect match for Kelsey, a siren who is sick of her voice getting her any man she wants. The combination of supernaturals is a different one, and their relationship is incredibly hot.
It ends surprisingly sweetly - who knew the Grim Reaper would have a kitten? Looking forward to the new Last Call book, Firecracker, comi Perhaps the best one of the series! Looking forward to the new Last Call book, Firecracker, coming soon: Sep 03, T. I downloaded this novella as part of the Last Call series set. I Really enjoyed the concept of a supernatural bar where your drink order announces to prospective partners what you are looking for. I really enjoyed the two main characters-- a siren and a grim reaper.
It's a great combination and I liked the ease of their relationship. I thought this one was a winner. Feb 01, Darcy rated it liked it Shelves: I can't imagine what a person would want when with their voice they can have anything. Turns out with Kelsey, it was to actually talk to someone without coercing them. As hot as the sex was between Kelsey and Cain, their conservations were the best, because they let each other know what exactly they wanted.
A short, steamy story of the meeting between two paranormals at a not so normal bar. I was a little confused about how the heroine moved a certain way when she had her arms chained together behind her, but overall this was a well written story between two paranormals needing to connect with another.

The characters are very well developed for such short stories. I love the idea of powerful, paranormal beings going to a bar to get what they need. This is definitely another good addition to the series. I'd love to see a male or two show up for specials Apr 18, Natasha A. Sexy, exciting, and so much fun! I just wish I could sit and listen to Ms. Rogers talk this out! What would they need? I truly hope that they continue this series! Jun 28, Beverly rated it really liked it. In each short story we get amazing characters, hot steamy sex and romance to ice the cake.
Don't miss out on this one where Cain, a soul-collector - basically death, who thinks he is ice walking - is thawed by Kelsey, the siren who is looking for love. This one was rhe best of all.
It had an actual story with an actual ending. No wonder about it. The version describes a similar situation, but with a different plot. Though the structure and storyline are similar in both, in the weather is not as cold and horrendous, no dog follows the protagonist, the fire is not doused, and the man named Tom Vincent suffers only from permanent frostbite and survives to become a more melancholic but wiser person.
The "To Build a Fire" is an oft-cited example of the naturalist movement that portrays the conflict of man vs. It also reflects what London learned in the Yukon Territory. The man and the dog's relationship is followed throughout the story. The man is in strict control of the dog, as explicitly mentioned by London. The dog is almost like a slave to him. There was no physical intimacy between the two. The man did not pet the dog or treat it fondly. In fact, the man forces the dog to go ahead of him when he suspects the ice will break. This helps to build the idea that the man believes nature is intended to serve him.
By including the dog, the author makes the man less likable. London even describes the dog as his "toil-slave". Nature " is one of the themes present in this short story. The protagonist decides to face the brutal cold temperatures of the Yukon Territory , despite being warned by an older man.
The short story depicts the protagonist's battle of life and death while highlighting the importance of the fire. One theme illustrated in the story is the man's human sense of judgment contrasted with the dog's animal instincts. Throughout the story, London hints that the dog has more knowledge of survival than the man. The judgment-versus-instinct theme is evident when the man builds the first fire. While the dog wants to stay by the fire to keep warm, the man is determined to keep moving.
As the dog reluctantly follows the man across a frozen river, the dog is more cautious than the man. The protagonist's desperation is evident throughout the majority of the story. It is noticeable soon after the man falls into a frozen-over river. In order to save himself, he scrambles to build a fire but is too busy worrying about his health to notice the mistake of building a fire underneath a tree which has collected an enormous amount of snow. After the first fire is put out, his desperation becomes more defined as he seemingly will do anything to survive, including attempting to kill his dog for warmth and using all his matches at once in a final attempt to light his last fire.
His desperation for survival and his fear of death cause his final demise as he freezes to death at the end of the story. Another evident theme in the story is perseverance. Although the man makes several mistakes and is getting frostbite in his fingers and toes, he continues to fight for survival. Stupidity and arrogance are personified in the story's protagonist.
For example, he goes through the extremely cold territory alone, despite going for the first time. He laughs off the crucial advice of traveling with an acquaintance because he thinks he knows what he's doing. This arrogance results in the protagonist putting himself in a dangerous situation that was preventable.
At first, he thinks it's nothing and that everything will be fine. By the end of the story, he dies as a result of his arrogance. Another example of arrogance occurs when the protagonist disregards the possibility that there may be situations he cannot overcome. The old man warns the protagonist of this and also seems to have a better understanding of the natural world, respecting the fact that there are some situations the man will be unable to control.
Not only does the old man see the protagonist's stupidity, but the dog notices the man's lack of knowledge about the terrain and its obstacles after he fails to keep a fire going. Succumbing to death is another theme in the story: London foreshadows the death of the man early in the story, so it is not a surprise that the man dies.
