Game of Life: Winning Strategies

After playing The Game of Life, I recommend politely offering the game For Sale, which is a game about buying and selling real estate, just like people tell you that you should do in the game of [real] life! Most people will say 'no', because many people are afraid of board games that they have not learned as a child. Your strategy then may be to just open with "would you care to play another quick game? Its quite short and you can make a fortune in it". If they say 'no' to that, I don't recommend trying to change their mind, as its like selling real life insurance: If they do agree, I highly recommend spending less than 30 seconds while you are handing out money.
The more time you spend rambling on, the more said people wish they were playing The Game of Life because they are actually doing something at that point. Its best to just talk about the first half of the game. They are house numbered , and you auction for them with the money you have. Don't go into details about selling them yet, as that can confuse people to the point of not wanting to play anymore. Just tell them they want the highest numbers possible out of I played this yesterday and 'don't buy insurance' was a duff tip.
Turns out life insurance 5k investment pays out k at the end of the game when you pass a certain space. I just don't like that a "game of life" tells me that the only few decisions I should make is that I should buy insurance and that it always pays off. It makes me feel like I'm not learning anything other than that I should support big corporate insurance companies like an obedient American. I personally prefer the old version of life, because it's a game you play with people who don't game while laughing about the ridiculous things that happen.

The new one has some horrible track where you build up some random points based on luck then you can go do other Very Serious TM luck based things. It's basically trying to disguise the fact there's no actual strategy besides laughing at the horrible things that happen to you, but in doing so they removed the bit about laughing at the horrible things that happened to you!
Also don't quote me but I think they removed Poor Farm, which just kills my entire strategy for the game.
I didn't realize there were two versions. This might be why I enjoyed it a lot less versus what I remember of the game. Buy investment early and near the high middle.

I usually go for and wind up making a killing People tend to spin for high numbers like 10 and miss. Don't gamble unless you have the 4 spot gamble card. You CAN just wing the wheel. I recommend not doing this and spin fast but not so fast as you're not generally sure where it'll land. Since you've taken Career, go back to night school when it comes up.
It's a little riskier spaces, but you get to take a college educated career and salary anyway at the end of it. I think there are a lot of decisions in it Don't go to Learn it. I'll say something about disagreeing.
BlueSapphyre said there are a lot of decisions. I was so happy when I came here earlier and saw people discussing the actual question instead of just telling OP to buy a different game. The Game of Life is one of those children games But as a mostly spin and move game, it's light with little strategy. I played like a month ago on a lark. I was a k doctor and I lost to a police officer when he drew to change salaries. I think it's more about the salary you end up taking versus the career. That's why you pretty much NEED to go to college unless you're feeling lucky.
I remember playing LIFE in elementary school and rolling on all the baby spaces. I had no space to put the kids, so I started stacking them on my car's hood! IMO this game is all about spinning the wheel and seeing what your life will become - for better or worse.
The PC version of this game rocks! Check it out in action. It's got funny animations, and there's an advanced mode where you play mini-games when you land on LIFE spaces. From what I remember, there was no bonus to paying off the starting loan early since there's no interest. So don't bother paying them back. This gives you more readily available cash for an event.
IIRC, it mattered if you could afford the best house or something I think it was worth more points? I think other than that, there were only a few gotcha cards to watch out for, such as Lawsuit or something. You can just look through the pile or the rules before the game and easily play around them, when you see another player holding one of the cards. And as everyone else said, don't do the gamble unless you are way behind as the expected rate of return is really bad. The two paths you can take usually don't matter at all.
I believe they usually just yield the same points.
How to Succeed and Win at the Game of Life
I find that the best strategy in the game of life is to create as many gliders as I can as fast as I can. There are several good glider gun designs that I recommend learning. Ideas have always been my strong point, and action plans, my weaknesses. Remember plans can always change, I may start with one plan on a Monday and by next week I could have already adjusted it to make it work better.
