Davenport did a fantastic job on this story.
Fourth and Goal is a well written sports romance novel. She told a convincing story of a woman who knows and loves the game, without alienating the readers who know nothing of the sport. With sultry and inventive sex scenes, heart breaking sorrow, nail biting football plays and a cast that is captivating and engaging, Fourth and Goal is a winner!
Dec 04, Nicole Lloyd rated it it was amazing. My first book I ever read by Jami Davenport, and it won't be my last! Derek and Rachel had an amazing friendship that took a little deter when they both crossed the line, and this ends up breaking up their relationship. Fast forward 5 years later and they end up back in each others lives, since Derek needed someone to watch his ranch. Derek is trying to have a comeback in his career as a wide receiver. With a new coaching staff this is Derek's last chance.
The wide receiver coach ends up taking De My first book I ever read by Jami Davenport, and it won't be my last! The wide receiver coach ends up taking Derek under his wing. He gives him a list of things to do, and to get rid of his tension was to get laid. The only person Derek wanted was the one person who fought their attraction. As the story goes along Rachel finally gives in and helping him by having friends with benefits relationship with the one rule of knowing that it will never go anywhere.
Of course the going no where in the relationship ends up in an amazing relationship. Until the real reason why Rachel is around. Rachel a tough as nails kind of chick, who knows football just as good as the next guy. Is trying to gain Derek's trust so she can get "truth" out of him. She thinks he shaved points off that her father has been accused of. As time goes by trying to find out the truth she ends up falling in love with him, and knowing he didn't do what she and her brother thinks he did.
Seeing him in situations proves to her he wasn't part of the demise of her fathers career. This book isn't just another football series, its so much more than that! It pulls you right in from the beginning of the book. I would highly recommend the book. And you have to read the book to find out how Derek really knew he was able to love.
Oct 23, Allyson rated it it was amazing. Fourth and Goal was an absolutely wonderful book I could see myself reading over and over again. Not only was it a great Football book but a touching, heartwarming, funny, romantic book that had me crying as well as angry at times too.
Fourth and Goal is one of these books that's sticks with you. I fell in love with Derek. He was such a great guy passionate, loyal, caring, giving, strong, supportive, honest, the more famous he got the more he gave. Rachel, my heart went out to her. She had a gre Fourth and Goal was an absolutely wonderful book I could see myself reading over and over again.
She had a great heart, loved football but was very clumsy. Her dream was to work in football but very much a man's world.
Her family didn't really support her. When her father had to step down as coach because accused of shaving points, her brother was convinced he was protecting Derek or his cousin, Tyler. When Derek needs someone to take care of his animals during football season Rachel gets the job because they have a history.
They both quickly find out things aren't always black and white. This was the first book I have read by Jami Davenport. I am so glad I did. I look forward to reading more by her and the other books in this series. I highly recommend this book! Rachel is a gal trying to make it in a man's world. In the world of football. Her dad is a coach, her former love and his cousin both play pro for the local team. There's some drama with a previous incident involving points shaving. We also meet a young man with cancer who you will absolutely fall in love with.
It seems to flip flop from a first person to more of a narrative POV at times. It's quite odd at first. I'm not sure I entirely liked it. Though I suppose Simon is a bit of a character in his doggy thief ways. But still- it was annoying to have the pets referred to as if they were human characters at times. Especially with them having human names. I loved the young boy the team adopted as their little brother. Such a heartwarming thing to read about.
Take a chance on this book. It'll keep you entertained, it'll shed a few tears and it's overall a decent read. Fourth and Goal is the first book in the Seattle Lumberjacks series. What a great book, even if you aren't a sports fan. Sure there was a lot of football talk, but it didn't distract me from the story.
Rachel was a very likable heroine, she's got a love for football even though she has no athletic ability herself. She's clumsy, which I can totally sympathize with.
She's struggled professionally because of allegations against her dad, and she wasn't the only one. Derek was Two words! Derek was an awesome hero. I felt his struggle when he was going through training camp and happy when he made it, but he's just not playing like he should. He asks Rachel to help him with his game and then they start tearing up the sheets, and wouldn't you know it helped his game. Jami does a fantastic job creating a vivid story that you just can't put down. A perfect summer read. This story was funny, sweet, sad and spicy.
Can I just say though that I loved Simon, the dog! I can't wait to read book Two, which is Tyler's. Mar 13, SirenBookReviews rated it really liked it. Derek is a football player, but his game seems to be off. Then Rachel comes back into his life, all grown up and looking sexy as ever. She's there to help, and Derek hopes that she's forgiven him for the mistakes he made in the past. The mistake that ruined their long-time friendship. Now Rachel is helping him with his game. Who would have thought sex would get him back on his game?
But he's concerned about what this physical relationship without any commitment or feelings will do to Rachel, even Derek is a football player, but his game seems to be off. But he's concerned about what this physical relationship without any commitment or feelings will do to Rachel, even though he's feeling great and playing better than ever. Sexual conflict at its best. Derek and Rachel have a past history. Now their reunion has plenty of tension and conflict.
Jami Davenport creates a well rounded story, full of lots of heart, scorching sex, and plenty of pacing to keep this story moving.
I enjoyed this very much. If you don't mind a contemporary romance on the erotic side, love sports romances, and are looking for a great read, don't miss Fourth and Goal. It'll have you wanting more from this author in a heartbeat! May 08, Laurie Ryan rated it it was amazing. I just finished reading Fourth and Goal and it drove me nuts because I started it at a time when I was extremely busy and could only read a few pages at a time.
Finally this week I got enough free time and read the last pages in two day. I loved this story.
The stakes were high, the emotion intense, and the sex sizzled. Ooh, boy, did it sizzle! The issues between Derek and Rachel were as strong as the their attraction. And I also, kind of against my will, found myself liking the secondary characters, Tyler and Cass. Davenport weaves characterization effortlessly into the story so you get a well rounded view of each one. I can hardly wait. Thanks to Goodreads First Reads program for the free copy of the book.
This was a pretty good sports romance, good story, interesting characters, etc, with some caveats That said, the main characters, Derek and Rachel, were Thanks to Goodreads First Reads program for the free copy of the book. That said, the main characters, Derek and Rachel, were very likeable, and I wanted to see them together. I loved the side story about Ryan, which brought me to tears several times. Tyler and Cass were much less likeable, and if they are the next story in the series, i'm not sure I'll want to read it.
