Mar 18, Mandy rated it did not like it. I read this for a scavenger hunt. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would, I really don't know what I was expecting. I was confused about characters that were being mentioned and talked about that were never really introduced. I understand we're trying to get that Jamie has friends who care about him but I have no clue who they are most of the time or how they're connected.
Jamie's psychic ability was also confusing to understand especially in the beginning when the scene wasn't rea I read this for a scavenger hunt. Jamie's psychic ability was also confusing to understand especially in the beginning when the scene wasn't really described at all and it seemed like three people were in the room or outside with him when nobody was with him at all.
It's not like the author lacks ability in describing scenes in vivid detail because the sex scenes sure don't leave anything up to the imagination. An other thing that completely annoyed me aside from both the main characters was the use of "one iota". There's always the annoying use of a certain word in every romance novel, I can't think of any other examples right now but I have noticed this before.
The best part of this book was that it got three items for my scavenger hunt. Jun 06, Laurie rated it really liked it Shelves: This story between a future-seeing mountain man and a well intentioned, determined woman caught my interest and exceeded my expectations. Jamie, a ruggedly sexy eccentric hero, at first seems to be a lonely hermit with serious trust issues. As the story progresses, he continues to keep his guard up when he meets and cohabits with Faith, the heroine who is set on winning his heart. Despite his best efforts to keep his guard up, Faith causes him to slowly lower it as she gradually wins his trust.
Faith was on a mission to keep Jamie safe and win his heart. Unlike so many others, she can block Jamie from reading her thoughts, and it's a good thing too, because she cannot share the truth with him until the time is right. Faith is relentless on her mission, and Jamie cannot resist the tempting curves of her body anymore.
They give to each other as well as take from each other, and in their earth-shattering passion, the truth sets them both free. Jamie realizes he can trust and have relationships and Faith realizes she must finally share her deepest secrets with him. This story was a unique story of love and trust, and is one of my favorite books.
Jun 25, Siela rated it really liked it. While the men are smart, macho, tough guys — yet gentle and caring. And I think what really makes her books so popular and well-loved is that she comes up with all these likeably perfect characters. And that's pretty hard to do. It is safe to say, I suppose, that Jamie is my favorite book in all the series. Only because it has Scott Royal and Alyx Winston's storyline in it. Though I was hoping there would be an actual book involving them, Lori Foster certainly didn't disappoint with the few chapters she'd written about the two.
An easy read and great 'ol fluff book. Sep 28, Erinw rated it did not like it. Usually I enjoy Lori Foster's stories, but I didn't enjoy this one. Jamie is a man who can read people's minds and see the future. Faith comes to find him because he is the only person who can help her with a secret. Both Jamie and Faith were unlikeable and unbelievable characters. It was annoying that a lot of backstory from earlier books came up. I figured out the secret early in the book but Jamie was not smart enough to figure it out until the last second.
Too much in this book made me frown Usually I enjoy Lori Foster's stories, but I didn't enjoy this one. Too much in this book made me frown in annoyance. Everything I have read by Lori Foster has been better than this. I suggest you try her other books. I really like Lori Foster's writing but this story wasn't for me. I couldn't even finish it. I think it's because it's about psychic stuff and I wasn't expecting that type of storyline.
I really enjoy all her men of honor books and undercover books and stuff like that The "romance" struck me as absurd. It reminded me of the Colter book from Maya Banks which is another one I found completely absurd from the star I really like Lori Foster's writing but this story wasn't for me. It reminded me of the Colter book from Maya Banks which is another one I found completely absurd from the start. Although to be fair Maya Bank's book is really awful I can imagine some people might like it. Oh well can't love 'em all. I'm downgrading my review on this one. It just didn't hold up well on a second reading.
It was okay but the plot seemed pretty ludicrous to me and I wonder how I swallowed it so easily the first time around. I've read a lot of Lori Foster but this is my first reread. Maybe I shouldn't give any more of the ones which I enjoyed a second try. Maybe I should just leave them alone as happy memories. May 05, Daelith rated it it was ok Shelves: I'm beginning to feel like a book grouch since I'm not overly impressed with much I've been reading lately.
Not sure what the problem is. But, dang pages of cabin scene nearly did me in. Please just trust me. There is only so much of that type conversations I can take. Jul 29, Tammy rated it liked it. Not really a stand alone at all; this is very much part of a series. A series I've not read any other books in.
And that made this less enjoyable.
I liked the MCs and their story, but I didn't care for any of the other stuff. Not the books fault, my fault. Feb 08, Rachel Cron rated it it was amazing. I loved this book! Lori's writing is smooth and easy to absorb. The story is very sweet, sexy, intriging and will keep you turning the pages. I found myself really rooting for the couple in the book. Sep 02, Bonnie Stinson rated it it was amazing. Finally he has his own book and we understand!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides that, he's a great character and this book will stand on it's own as his life story unfurls. With the requisite happily ever after.
Jan 01, Kissa is currently reading it. I've been wanting to try out this author for a while now. I found this book at the thrift store so this is my chance. View all 3 comments. One of my all time favorite stories by Lori Foster. Oct 29, Maura rated it liked it Shelves: Jamie, the psychic hermit in Visitation, NC finally gets his book. At the end of the last book he's spotted toting a naked woman up to his mountain cabin in a hellacious storm and everyone down on level ground is rearing and ready to find out to but into his business and find out what that was all about.
But they have to wait out the storm, and in the meantime, Jamie has to deal with Faith, the woman who claims to know him from his past and wants his help, but refuses to tell him how or why or g Jamie, the psychic hermit in Visitation, NC finally gets his book. But they have to wait out the storm, and in the meantime, Jamie has to deal with Faith, the woman who claims to know him from his past and wants his help, but refuses to tell him how or why or give him any other details. And even more frustrating, she can block her thoughts if she focuses.
Faith has one mission - to make Jamie care, then and only then can she tell him why she's there. She has no problem getting Jamie's lust, but to make him care, she has to earn her trust, and her determination to shut him out of her mind to hide her secrets sets them at cross purposes. But Jamie can feel a threat surmounting and the longer he spends with Faith the more important it is to him to protect her. So, for all the build up to finally get to Jamie's story, it was a bit of a let down.
I still find Jamie an absolutely delightful character with the perfect amount of mystery and tortured hero syndrome, but his story left a lot to be desired. Okay, his backstory is okay, but I'd expected a bit more I guess. And his ability to read Faith's mind seemed extremely inconsistent. I'd think that the moment she got drunk he'd just be able to delve in and find out everything he needed to know, but evidently he has unnecessary restraint.
No need to be noble at that point when he'd already stuck his fingers in her to find out if she was bugged. So basically it's the two of them in his cabin with some people coming in and out to throw in some interaction, but it's the same old deal - he wants to know what she wants and she wants to get in his pants before she'll tell him. And even their sex together seems like he's being cruel to her. It felt really off. And then there's the whole Cory thing And the threat feels all vague and undetermined.
Even at the end while they're wrapping it all up, I still wasn't sure exactly what the villain really wanted It seemed so convoluted.
And for such a big draw as Jamie and with as much build up as his story was getting in the series, I'm honestly surprised that we had a secondary romance with Scott and Alyx. It was almost an equal side-romance, which just goes to show you that Jamie and Faith's story wasn't strong enough to carry the book on its own. I almost actually enjoyed Scott and Alyx more - I find them quite annoying, but there was some angsty feels going on in there story that Jamie and Faith were missing. So definitely a disappointment given all the build up, but still a decent enough story in its own right.
Jamie is still my favorite character of the series, but I wish his romance had been a bit more and without him having to clean up and become a townie to get his HEA. Jul 19, Michele rated it really liked it. If you have been reading the Visitation series you know who Jamie is and what he is capable of. But even he did not see all that happens to him in the book coming. Who knew under all that facial hair and absent stare their was a different Jamie. When trouble comes to Visitation all the men and women that Jamie has let in are front and center. Heart warming and a nice read.
Sep 02, Tia Lappe rated it it was amazing Shelves: I liked getting two romances in one book. I strongly suggest reading the others in the series first. I felt like I was missing something through the whole book, not knowing it was a series. May 25, Callie Carmen rated it it was amazing.
Jamie has been such an interesting character from book 1 that it was so awesome to see things for his point of view , He is so hunky and funny sigh ,but he also has something about him that makes him such a great character to read about, His story was so good and sad at the same time all the stuff he had to go through was just awful. Sep 28, Erinw rated it did not like it. I loved all of them and Jamie just completes the story. Get to Know Us. I found this book at the thrift store so this is my chance.
I loved the entire Visitation, North Carolina series. Jun 19, Anna's Herding Cats rated it liked it Shelves: I love this series but gotta say, Jamie is plain ol' flipping creeeepy. I think this may be the first time a hero has actually given me the willies and had me cringing with a WTF expression taking up damn near permanent residence on my face. The first pages are so bizarre. Jamie find Faith trooping up his mountain and goes to confront her but as soon as he reaches her she collapses from exhaustion and illness. What does our hero do first?
Well, of course, he strips her naked and throws all o I love this series but gotta say, Jamie is plain ol' flipping creeeepy. Well, of course, he strips her naked and throws all of her clothes off the mountain and into the river just in case she's wearing a bug. Then he searches her for tracking devices. He feels her up, and I mean really feels her up, and doesn't miss checking anywhere. I'm way the hell over here and I was so damn uncomfortable.
And Faith just lets him go at it. I don't care why she was there or what she needed from him. I'd be slapping the ever living hell out of him. I get that he's paranoid because of his past but damn. Thankfully it does get better but damn that first bit is a doosey. Foster's characters are usually so easy to fall for. Quirky but personable and draw you in right away. Jamie and Faith, though, are characters that really have to grow on you. Jamie is socially awkward and uncomfortable with the idea of having friends after years of isolation due to his telepathic abilities. It's a struggle for him to have Faith in his home and the people of Visitation trying to be his friends.
She's a determined woman and I can respect her for that but I did find her refusal to explain things very frustrating. The whole plot is that she needs Jamie's help and he just has to accept her without getting all the details or really any of the details. But she does have redeeming qualities, namely, the way she accepted Jamie how he was and the positive impact she had on his life. While this wasn't my favorite of the series there were some fantastic moments along the way that made it worth the read.
Especially when Jamie cleaned himself up and dropped the mountain man act. His friends were used to him being mysterious, showing no emotions and being a man of few words.

From Publishers Weekly. The fifth installment in Foster's Visitation series (after Just a Hint—Clint) strives to be a Jennifer Crusie–style.
Suddenly he's all cleaned up and actually showing a sense of humor, being rather chatty. Loved how shocked and flustered they all got over the new Jamie. Especially the men's reactions. Easily the best part of the book.
The very ending was a little corny but it was the last book in the series so I kinda liked it. All the past characters have their big group moment together. Just like with a tv series finale it's a bit sappy, a little over the top silly and cheesy and you can't help but smile and go aaawwww. Overall, I really enjoyed the Visitation, NC series. It wasn't at all what I expected but it was worth the read. The heroes and heroines were pretty unique and a couple of them found their way to my favorites list. They weren't your typical characters, to say the least, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them.
Even Jamie and his creepy self. Nov 05, Christie P. When you want to disappear and be forgotten by the rest of the world, where do you go? Jamie thought the mountains of Visitation, North Carolina would be a good spot to isolate himself. He was far enough away from town and high enough on the mountain to not worry about being bothered. The best hiding spot in the world can't stop someone if they know exactly where to look.
Faith has been coming to find Jamie since her daughter told her to find the man she once witnessed being psychologically tortur When you want to disappear and be forgotten by the rest of the world, where do you go? Faith has been coming to find Jamie since her daughter told her to find the man she once witnessed being psychologically tortured. Climbing a mountain in the middle of a storm to find him should prove her determination enough but Jamie isn't convinced this innocent looking woman doesn't have some serious ulterior motives.
Faith knows it's going to take a lot of time and effort for Jamie to trust this woman that he just met but she has no other option. She's going to do whatever it takes to keep her daughter, and the man she has secretly loved for year, safe no matter what it cost her in the end. But how no one knows just how dangerous the situation has gotten until it's too late. Jamie is the fifth installment to the Visitation series and it just might be the best. Jamie is present in ever novel of the series, which makes the readers want to hear his story and hopefully happy ending.
But you also get Scott and Alyx's story which I have wanted since the two met in the first book. So for me it was two for the price of one goodness! Faith isn't the type of woman I was expected for Jamie but I was very pleasantly surprised by her determination and bravery, even when they first meet and Jamie isn't very nice I loved Alyx and Scott's parts of the book.
I wish there had been more of those, or their scenes had been longer. Some of the surprises in the story are a little predictable but they still work and enhance the story.
This book felt like a really good way to tie up the series and even gave a little glimpse of how everyone that we've met through the series is doing in their lives. The heroine, Faith was just very, very unlikable. You don't try to find a man living in isolation by yourself and come onto him just because an 8- year old psychic told you to. You also don't do this in a raging storm with a fever and when it's getting dark.
You also don't refuse to tell the man -who's got a good reason to be wary of strangers - why you tracked him to his isolated hideaway -"for his own good". You don't keep doing this in a way that makes a reader want to jump into your The heroine, Faith was just very, very unlikable. You also don't witness someone being held captive and do nothing day in and day - other than develop a crush on them as you witness their miser through a camera.
If you were concerned with your family's safety to directly get involved, an anonymous tip is the least you could've done! My number one reason for giving it one star was: I could maybe bear with a TSTL heroine if there was anything resembling some chemistry between H and h. Wonderful addition to the series and I loved the epilogue. I would really like to know Willow and Clay's story. Also there was no mention of the baby that Luna was pregnant with.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a very good sexy read. One person found this helpful. Author had done a great job of leading the reader up to wanting to know more about the character Jamie. And what a character he is. Jamie could also be titled "Don't Judge a Book By it's Cover, because prior to reading this book you have no idea about Jamie, how he came to be the enigma he is.
In the end you'll be loving Jamie just like all the other hero's! I hope there's more to come in visitation. This is the first book of the Visitation characters I read. I had seen this, wanting to explore other works by Lori Foster after reading something else from her. I loved the detail that she uses, the paranormal aspect and the sexual tension she writes in every chapter. The characters in this book were in depth and she gave you just enough information for me to keep wanting to read, refusing to stop until I was done.
Wonderful book, and now because of it I have to check out the Visitation series.
Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase. I enjoyed the entire series of the Visitation books, but I really wanted Alyx and Scott to have their very own story! This story kept me guessing.
