I was born and raised within 10 miles of the Firth of Clyde, so it was something that came to me naturally anyway. So adding Captain Gault in to three of the stories in the new collection also felt natural. Would you ever consider exploring The Nightland in your stories, or do you think it too out-dated now?
The far future aspect of it, and the sense of cosmic scale is the appeal to me.

Several stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines, so check out his website: We also plan to have a feature interview and showcase session with Wayne Miller , the artist mentioned above, in November. But now come back in time with greydogtales. Before Meikle there was… Kidd and Kennett. Published by the Ghost Story Society in , this volume containing four stories, described as pastiches. A decade later, Ash Tree press published No. Carnacki, the Untold Stories with a further eight new tales.
No Cheyne Walk e-book. I was in touch with Chico as part of the WHH blog-fest, and although she has no more Carnackis planned, she is still scribing.
William Hope Hodgson's CARNACKI THE GHOST FINDER was published in , and contained six stories describing the adventures of the plucky occult. No. Cheyne Walk has 29 ratings and 1 review. Roy said: Carnacki The Ghost Finder was a book I read as a child many years ago by William Hope Hodgso.
Chico described them to me thusly:. Numerous short stories in anthologies. I have known David Langford for a scarily long time, and careened off him at many a drunken SF convention. His Dagon Smythe stories are, essentially, contemporary piss-takes of Carnacki.
They also have to buy the drinks. I recognised the symptoms and took rapid action, crying: Carnacki , The Untold Stories by A. Chico Kidd and Rick Kennett Kidd and Kennett's title reflects Carnacki's address, the place that he summons his four friends to hear his tales. The title signals their reverence for Hodgson's storytelling formula, and they continue to follow it, although not as deftly as he does. The stories themselves are cases that Carnacki himself refers to in narratating his other adventures. Many of the stories begin with a headnote that shows the previous reference.
Ralph marked it as to-read Jun 23, We salute him here because of his Carnacki stories and the Hodgsonian elements in some of his other work, but he has, of course, written reams of strange and terrifying tales. I grew up watching Scooby Doo , and these stories were, in fact, the grandfather, or maybe great-grandfather, of that cartoon. After he finishes his story, there is minimal converstation and then the commands the group to leave good heartedly. Rae rated it it was ok Sep 16, Hello and welcome, Willie.
Kidd and Kennett do their best to enliven the intriguing past cases that Hodgson provided. Their collection contains more stories that Hodgson himself wrote, and unfortunately they lack the variety of Hodgson's stories. While Hodgson's frame stories are formulaic, his character's narrations contain a wide variety of specters, hauntings, and criminals. Kidd and Kennett do not accomplish such finesse.
They seem to be trying to create more consistent "Weird" world in their stories than Hodgson ever imagined.
