When she became an "empty nester" last year, and then was subsequently diagnosed with breast cancer, she made a list of "saying 'yes' to myself" things to do during her recuperation from surgery, when she was not to be returning to work for three months and surgery was all she needed, so she will not miss any rehearsals or performances due to any medical treatments. One of the things at the top of her list was to audition for a musical at Artisan. She was so blessed to be Mrs. She is 9 years old.

Rita has spent the last few years teaching piano and voice, and performing in the DFW. In addition to her singing, Rita also collaborates with up-and-coming composers as a lyricist. She loves to sing, is mother to two blue-eyed children, and thinks everything in life is better with peanut butter.
