Working for Ben was exhausting and time consuming all while laced with a sprinkle of lust. What are the secrets that the Worthingtons are trying so hard to keep hidden? To think I had them figured out…ha Will Ben ever act like the father to Grace that he should? So far Sarah has had the determination of a bull, but will it hold out? As the realization of those secrets leak out, Sarah questions just how deep her feelings for Ben really are.

As always, CJ has written a fun quick romance that engages you from beginning to end. While this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I recommend it to any reader looking for a hard fought romance that is tinged with some really unexpected secrets that will leave you rooting for this unique pair. New York Nights is a light, sweet romance with a lot of heart. I love that Sarah has taken the leap to leave Australia to live and work in New York. I adore her gumption in going for it, talking life by the short and curlies and actually living.

Ben - oh Ben. He is quite a prickly one, but then when you meet the rest of his family, it is not hard to understand why he is like he is. And as the story progressed he did thaw out a bit. She wasn't afraid to ask the questions, tell them how it is, throw some punches, call them on their BS - and there is plenty of it! I adored the relationship Sarah has with Ben's daughter Grace, and loved seeing Ben with her.

This little bub really is quite the scene stealer. New York Nights is sweet and charming, and has given me a whole new list of places to visit when I hit New York later in the year! Now I am impatiently waiting for London Bound. Jan 28, Shrimalya rated it really liked it Shelves: I love this new series from C. She's a really great Aussie writer and I first fell in love with her writing in the Summer series. The Heart of the City series consists of standalone novels, each set in a different city, with different protagonists. The family of Worthingtons who hire her are a weird and secretive bunch, quite snobbish at times.

And when she finds out she is to be the au-pair for Grace, I love this new series from C. And when she finds out she is to be the au-pair for Grace, the daughter of Ben Worthington, who is quite the broody and distant guy, her curiosity increases. In addition to that, he is handsome and sexy, causing the tension between them to evolve into attraction.

She can't understand why Ben spends most of his time working and avoiding home even though he seems to love his daughter.

His family also keeps butting in and there are a hoard of secrets that they seem to be keeping. Will Sarah manage to keep her job and heart safe? I loved Sarah in this novel. She is normal and isn't anything special, but has her own set of strengths. Her caring nature, dedication to her job and persistence had to be admired.

Ben was quite the tortured hero. It took a lot of time for him to let Sarah in. Even though their relationship was beautiful, I just felt as if something was missing. Maybe we could have spent more time developing it.

I also loved how the book took us around NYC. The secondary characters were mainly Ben's family and they added a lot to the story, but I think I wanted more page time with Ben and to know about Sarah's family. Grace was a really sweet child and Ben's love for her could be felt through the pages. I also loved the ending! It was just perfect! Can't wait to read Kate's story in London Bound!! New York Nights by CJ Duggan encompasses a shocking secret… one that is linked to two different women and a pair of brothers — an awful thing with a heartbreaking consequence that no one is willing to talk about.

It creates a tragedy filled with pain and anger, which readers eventually come to find lurking beneath the surface of the lifestyles surrounding this rich and somewhat famous family — at least in the upper-class Manhattan circles in which this tale is set.

Being a lover of young babies certainly helped, although it took far less than that enticement to reel this avid reader in. While New York Nights is no classic literary masterpiece and is certainly raunchy in a couple of sections, C. Duggan brings together a good mix of characters — most living the sheltered and lavish lifestyles of the rich and famous, while Sarah is a fun-loving albeit struggling twenty-something Aussie with a keen spirit of adventure and a deep love for an innocent and somewhat abandoned young baby.

Maybe things are looking up after all. The pages contain great location descriptions of the bustling and often expensive lifestyles found in certain areas of New York, along with the joys and disasters always encountered when looking after an adorable and very young child. This is definitely no Doctor Zhivago epic or Gone with the Wind saga. As already hinted at, New York Nights is possibly more suited to the younger age bracket, however, it is an easy read on a lazy day when you just want to get lost in a gentle story for a few hours.

Her manner is matter-of-fact and austere, with no expression or heart — although the first is probably due to massive doses of Botox. And then Alistair comes along. It is obvious he and Nikki are siblings with their cheery dispositions and down-to-earth manner, though how on earth they turned out so normal in this family is a mystery to Sarah, especially when their older brother — her boss — is such an enigma.

How can someone so cold and calculating create such a burning flame inside with just a single look? This novel certainly gives an intriguing glimpse into Manhattan living and the people who reside and work in the classier parts of town.

Having said that, all in all, I really did enjoy it. And a delightful extra? As a fellow Aussie writer, one of my favourite features was finding C. One of my pet hates when first putting pen to paper — well, actually, fingers to the keyboard! When I saw that this book has a single dad hero, of course I bought it despite it being the second book in the series. It works as a standalone because none of the characters are recurring. Anyways I love Sarah a lot.

She's a breath of fresh air. I love that she's sort of innocent and at the same time not naive. I love seeing her caring for Ben's daughter. Ben took me a while to warm up to because he I've been eyeing this series for a while now; CJ Duggan's Onslow Boys series is one of my faves. Ben took me a while to warm up to because he was such a cold fish but sometimes he'd say something out of character and made me wonder if there was more to him than his facade.

There isn't much of a plot going, I feel? I also love the Worthington family drama. It was an entertaining read. But I will say I found myself getting very attached to these characters and eagerly anticipating the next scene they appear in together as their chemistry is amazing. The plot of the book at first seems simplistic not so rich girl meets hot, brooding, rich guy but then Duggan creates a world of secrets tightly guarded by the Upper-class Worthington family. Nothing is as it seems in this family as secrets begin to be revealed with a massive plot twist towards the end which left me shocked and cheering. Not just the heart of the city but also the surrounding suburbs.

If you love a light and fluffy book that engages you from the first page: If you have no sense of humour and an intolerance for happy stories: After reading this book, I hope we get to meet these characters again. Maybe next time in Sydney? Like the first book, nothing really surprised me, but I think you go into these kinds of books knowing what you're getting in to- I wanted a fun, sexy romance and that's what I got. I think I liked Sarah a bit more than I liked the protagonist i 3.

I think I liked Sarah a bit more than I liked the protagonist in the Paris book, and while the relationship in this one sort of came out of nowhere obviously I knew it was going to happen but the characters had hardly spent any time together I liked the ending and the family drama.

Ben Worthington might be rich, handsome and have a beautiful daughter as well as a couple of homes but he also has secrets I am really enjoying this series although they definitely can be read as stand alones, in this story we meet Aussie girl Sarah Williams whose dream has always been to go to New York but she ends working as an au pair in her small country town but things look up when she makes it to Manhattan New York to take on a position of au pair there and boy is her life about to change.

Ben Worthington might be rich, handsome and have a beautiful daughter as well as a couple of homes but he also has secrets that cause anguish and heartache and pain and a family that help keep these secrets. But when he meets this Aussie girl Sarah something grabs and he hires her on the spot to look after his baby daughter Grace. Is Ben about to meet his match someone who will stand up to him? Sarah is gobsmacked at the hurdles she has to go through for this job but you know here she is in the place she has always wanted to be surely life is going to be good to her but Ben is a hard man to talk to and she is not overly impressed with his parenting skills or his mother for that matter but she is determined to get things done and done properly but she needs to keep control of that spark that is lighting up her life.

This is a story that will have you laughing smiling and jumping up and down I loved both Sarah and Ben but there were times I could have yelled at them their journey to a HEA is a rocky one but so worth it in the end. I did very much enjoy this story it let me feeling very good and look forward to the next one.
