    Alex is a friend. I should begin with that disclaimer. The story of his life of faith was interesting, challenging and contained elements of hope and promise. For those who grew up in the 50's and 0's it gives a glimpse of another point in time, before computers, cell phones and continual media barrage. I believe there is a catharsis that comes from the telling of one's story and I was delighted to read and savor this accounting.

    One person found this helpful. I found this book to be a delightful read. The author wrote in a way that made the reader feel like he was there for some of the experiences described. I can identify with some at least.

    He shares his struggles and his succsses in the quest to fit in. All in all, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to come away from a book feeling good. Both my husband and I found it a pleasure to read this book. A Longing to Fit In was like an apostle wanting to please Jesus but the apostle was never able to satisfy his ownself. The book is spiritual and fulfilling.

    This is a book to be read over and over and will invite the reader to learn something new and inspirational each and every time. For instance, in one of our readings of A Longing to Fit In it reminded both my husband and I that instead of knocking yourself down, find solutions through positive means. Keep this little gem of a book next to your bedside because it will give you never ending inspiration. The author has been a friend of mine for many years.

    He wrote this book about his life story, but his writing goes much further - it is filled with compassion, love, spirituality and encouragement. I read most of the manuscript before it was published. It is a very easy read - Alex has a way of presenting life events in a very interesting and intriguing way. His thoughts are deep and complex, yet down-to-earth, and not intimidating. That's what I appreciated all the way through the book. You can tell when someone is adding exaggerations, not so here.

    Alex Di Matteo's life experience plain and simple without over-dramatization.
