My hope is to bring together ideas from the East and West to meet today's challenges in a disruptive world - as a leader of our lives, teams and organizations. I drew on western management thought, Chinese philosophy, insights from leaders and executives, as well as my own experiences, to share with you the ABC of wholeness - to help us stay balanced, sustain good work in the long haul and be a contributor in our larger world.

As the demands of a disruptive world grow and pull us in different directions, it has never been more important to be whole. Most people recognise this, but few know how to achieve it. Instead, we run on the treadmill of work and become ever more drained and burnt out, while the organisations that we are part of become ever more fragmented and unhealthy.
Wholeness in a Disruptive World aims to bridge that gap. Inspired by the author's realisation after a physical breakdown from trying to "do it all", this book draws on the combined wisdom of Eastern and Western thinking, along with extensive interviews with leaders and executives, to show the way towards wholeness - both for us as individuals, as well as for our organisations and communities. This book was a reading assignment for a Master's Program. The class was on Global Leadership. Our class was fortunate to have traveled to Singapore and were able to meet the author and hear her speak.
Wendy Tan provided great perspective on the differences between Eastern and Western thinking. Wholeness begins by clarifying your anchor as it aligns the way we live, work, and conduct business. Another powerful concept is in the yin-yang. By recognizing the opposing forces you can seek to create a third option; or a win-win.
There are many other concepts and methods offered in this book. I recommend reading this if you are seeking a more global perspective on finding wholeness in your life, family, and work. Relevant for every person, team, organization, and community. Wonderful insight in how to join the values and traditions that the East and West offer. It beautifully weaves the East and West together in the most powerful way. This text will help them develop their 2-Year Life Learning Plan as they close out the program.
My Cohort had the opportunity to experience a session with Wendy. She is a gift. She gave of her time, energy, resources, and love so freely. We are richer today because of her. Wendy very effectively bridges the gap between eastern and western cultures and mentality. To be a global leader, you must understand and deploy the best ideas every culture has to offer.
This is an indispensable guide to modern thinking.

I loved the book!! My copy is covered with post-its. Even if you are intimidated by finance this book can walk you through it. This book helped to give me a new perspective on my career!
An excellent guide and resource for women in all stages of life. I have recommended this book to several female clients in my law practice.
The authors did an amazing job making complicated topics easy to understand and interesting to read about. The recommendations are practical and realistic to implement. It's clear the authors spent a good deal of time vetting their topic. Thank you to these authors. I hope they make this into a series. Purchased for my daughter after having borrowed it from my local library.
A great resource book for any woman and I know many men who would benefit. Delightfully eclectic collection of ideas, advice and viable information for women of all backgrounds and financial means. Such an easy read, but full of salient facts and figures to help women of all ages help themselves - never shallow or "fluffy", but always accessible, I found this book to be not only a speedy and enjoyable read, but one that I would want to dip into again and again as a no-nonsense guide to navigating financial challenges from a female perspective.
Excellent book every woman should read especially if married. It is a very good guide that will instruct the person on how to understand wealth and how to prepare for it. One person found this helpful. While I believe this to be true in many cases, and I do believe it has an impact on women's progress, one thing that has been missing from all of these articles and theories is the fact that even if you do develop the right professional relationships -- based on a "numbers game" -- it's highly likely that these individuals will be men because especially in finance and similar fields there are so few women who have "made it to the top" and are willing to share their perspective.
I would never trade the advice, support, and guidance given to me by my mentors and sponsors; these individuals have played an enormous role in helping me achieve the career success that I have to date. However, recently, I was shocked when I considered that not a single one of these individuals was female. While straight professional advice isn't necessarily gender specific, there are many nuances related to being a female in very male dominated profession that have gone unaddressed in almost all of my mentorship conversations to date. I came across "Seven Pearls" through a friend's recommendation, and I was thrilled to find that the authors had managed to provide very sound guidance and advice -- but from a female perspective.
The perspective on topics such as relationships, motherhood, female leadership styles, and healthcare independence have never been topics I have discussed with any of my professional contacts, and I found it incredibly helpful and reassuring to know that there were other career-oriented women were dealing with -- and overcoming -- the same issues.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in a thoughtful, balanced perspective of how to embrace being a female leader. Kudos to Carol Pepper and Camilla Webster for mainstreaming a critical perspective that I think many women in my professional circle have been seeking. I got this from the library and will now be buying a copy.
What a great book. I have read just about every financial book out there but this one spelled things out on such a real and practical level. I loved that they tackled romance and divorce, and even how to take care of pets after you die, but dont think that such "down to earth" subjects mean they dont tackle the hard stuff Just a great book.
