This involved finding an Alien Spaceship and several Alien Alloys. I upgraded both the engines and hull to level 6, then lifted off.
I flew through space, dodging space debris, and I think I got hit 5 times bringing my hull down to 1. Eventually, though, my spaceship started moving on its own to the center of the screen, debris stopped coming, and the ship flew away. At least, I think it flew away, but for all I know, it blew up. I'm okay with it as an ending, but since it was pretty vague I don't know if I messed up somehow and missed something. This interview seems to suggest there's an additional reveal that:.
If you find the old man in the murky swamp and give him a charm, you'll get this: No, it definitely flew away; if it blew up you had only 1 point left for the hull and got hit , then you would—somehow—crash back on the same planet and be right back at your village as it was before you took off. The lift off button would be disabled for a while before you can click it to try again. Therefore when the ship takes over and zooms up and off the screen, the game has officially ended.
You have successfully fixed your ship and left the planet and gone home. This is an acceptable ending, though some text to that effect would indeed be good.
Alternately, it could also have worked well if the meteors had increased in density and speed until you eventually run out of hull integrity and get hit. Then you would crash on a new planet and leave your ship to wander off to find shelter somewhere in a dark room…. I know the builder said once that "history has repeated itself".
So maybe in the ending what happens is your ship gets hit when there is more asteroid off screen or something , you get knocked out of your ship somewhere on the way down, you fall and hit your head, losing your memory while your ship is somewhere else in the world. Home Questions Tags Users Unanswered. Are there alternate endings to A Dark Room? First off, don't read farther if you haven't built a trading post. I went down a dusty road, and eventually cleared out the entire map.
After heading back, I upgraded both the engines and hull to level 6, then lifted off. Afterward, the screen faded out. Then I was back to square 1, in a dark room with a cold fire.
It's not as fun when you start out with only a tiny village or hut. But once you unlock exploration by buying the compass from the merchant, and by getting enough water and cured meat to last you on a decent trip, you can do more. Like I said, I managed to find some useful items like steel and iron, once you get iron you can build a wagon that will allow you to carry more, and some extra sturdy iron armor, and a cask for extra water.
The ironminer you can unlock when you discover the iron mine. Look in the caves.
They usually tend to hold the most valuable items. But make sure you have at least 2 to 3 torches available. A bone spear would do, but if you find a steel sword it deals 6 damage, plus iron sword with 4. One of my patterns in fighting is slash, swing, stab.
Slash with the steel sword, swing with the iron sword, and stab with the bone spear, for a total of 12 damage.
Sound fx and music would be awesome, I was even thinking a multiplayer mode, like I could send resources to you and you could send some to me, or we could fight each other I would advise you don't, not trying to brag, LOL , and help each other out in our villages. It would be awesome if there was a game like the one you say in which you could do all those things.
Anyway, I may give it another try but, like I said, these type of games don't really get my attention. Have a nice day, my friend. In order to fully appreciate what a dark room is all about, however, I think you really need to progress further into the game and its story.
For me, the beauty of the game is its simple, minimalist, yet haunting story telling. The story is bare bones, and exposed to you through small glimpses, but to me that made the experience all the more powerful. For me, at least, the fighting etc. Hi, I just went on the game today and got some more steel from a cave.
Brought it back to the village and I bought a water tank. It holds 60 units of water, which will give me enough to travel further. Now I just need the convoy and the steel armor. A dark room is one of my favorite text based games. You still have more things and places to discover.
