Her life should be perfect now. She is getting stronger as a wolf every single day. But, the town still does not accept her. You see, while Jackson was waiting for his chance with Chloe, he slowly slept his way through all the single females in town. Now they hate Chloe for taking him off the market.
Especially one in particular. The town mean girl. She is spreading horrible untruths, which in a small community like Huntsville, spread like wildfire. And in addition, a beautiful woman that Jackson grew up with in his own pack has come to town. Even if Jackson claims to think of her as a sister, she most definitely has other ideas. Could life get any better? And the scent left behind is unmistakable. It is a rogue wolf. A half man, half wolf creature looking for a mate. Jackson is worried that Chloe could be a target since she is mated with an alpha.
I felt terrible for Chloe. She so just wanted acceptance. She was so happy with Jackson but was constantly doubting her own self worth.
How can she ever win over the people of this town? Will Jackson get tired of her? Is she truly not fit for an alpha? It was sexy and I loved Chloe and Jackson. Let me tell you, he is a true alpha. Some of the things he says! This book was also super intense as the situation unraveled with the rogue wolf.
This is a short, fast paced, sexy book that will also keep you on the edge of your seat. View all 20 comments. I had struggled with the first in the series Make Her Howl but wasn't exactly sure why and as I already had this as part of a box-set Fated Mates: The book is written in the first person and I really don't like books given from that point of view. There is only one author I manage to put my dislike aside for and that is Kristen Ashley and although I love her I really do have to be in the right mood to read her work.
So it w I had struggled with the first in the series Make Her Howl but wasn't exactly sure why and as I already had this as part of a box-set Fated Mates: So it was always gonna take a special type of author to make me read in that narrative mode.
Unfortunately, for me Michelle Fox doesn't fall into that category, that's not to say her writing is particularly bad, it just means that she is not for me and there will be others out there who do like her - it really is just a personal choice! I did like the premise of the story and that's why I continued reading.
What reader's say about Michelle Fox's werewolves: "I love how well the characters are developed and rounded out - I feel like I know about these characters. Editorial Reviews. Review. stars from Night Owl Reviews: "I got caught up in the interesting, The Alpha's Mate (Huntsville Pack Book 1) by [Fox, Michelle].
However I did have a major problem with Jackson, he just didn't come across as the sexy Alpha male and I am afraid I didn't have a very good image of him in my head. Poor Chloe had no idea how to live in pack life as she was always excluded as considered a 'null' Never shifted into a wolf and basically treated like she was a leper and didn't exist.
Her parents had died when she was a young teenager and rather than anyone else take her in she had to raise herself. The pack Alpha had sort of kept an eye on her and given her extra time to 'bring her wolf' but she was now 25 and he had no choice but to ask her to leave But along came Jackson who knew how to 'bring her wolf' and of course that was to shag her. Now that she could shift and Jackson had declared her as his mate not only did she have to put up with the resentment of the pack Jackson was lined up to be the next Alpha so Chloe was the Alpha bitch but also had to put up with a stream of Jackson's ex women whose noses had been put out of joint as they had been vying to become his mate.
Every time Chloe voiced her concerns about lack of pack knowledge, how people were treating her, how his old pack mate was being nasty to her behind his back, or how vicious his ex women were being he just told her to stop worrying, that she was his mate and then distract her with sex!
I just didn't feel the connection between Jackson and Chloe which really spoiled the story. There wasn't really anything else to latch onto as it just revolved mainly around them, 2 vicious women and a little bit about the current pack Alpha. We never really got to know much about anyone else so I can't even say that I would like Ms Fox to tell their story.
Would I read anything else written by MF? Errr, probably not, I just don't think she is for me. This was ok enough but Jackson really ruined the story for me. He wasn't an alpha, or what I would expect an alpha to be like and he had no connection to Chloe outside of sex. I was a little bewildered how they even got together when it was revealed he was dating Vicki when he decided to "help" Chloe by having sex with her. He also just left her floundering when she had no place in the pack and everyone just acted like little high school bitches.
When she tried to bring her concerns he dism This was ok enough but Jackson really ruined the story for me. When she tried to bring her concerns he dismissed them and then they had sex. Unfortunately this series probably isn't for me. I enjoyed the prequel, this however So Chloe is a newly changed wolf, right?
So she's essentially a baby and so new to all pack stuff because she's been on the outside looking in her whole life being a Null wolf. S I enjoyed the prequel, this however So she has to deal with so much stuff two vicious exes out for revenge, people not believing she has what it takes to be an alpha, a rogue wolf with NO HELP whatsoever from her mate. Jackson was pretty much just there to have sex. It really just seems unfair that the bad guys were all brought to the story by Jackson and yet Chloe was left to solve all the problems by herself.
One aspect that also bothered me was Vicki's reaction to being raped by a literal monster. I mean, the girl gets her vagina and stomach torn in half - somehow survives - spends days alone, naked, without food or water healing super slowly - and she gets up, dusts off her shoulders and goes back to plotting against Chloe like nothing ever happened? Is she really that bloodthirsty that she continues with her revenge instead of taking care of herself? How the hell did her psyche cope with being raped and torn apart?
Plus she goes off and plans to have Chloe raped, too? Girl wtf is wrong with you? And, when her gig is up, Chloe just outs Vicki for leaving her with the monster No mention of Vicki's rape, no mention of Vicki's plan to let Ronnie rape Chloe, nothing Humans not allowed to live in your town? Nulls have to be thrown out? The punishment Vicki got was just a slap to the wrist or a squeeze to the throat Quite lenient for such heartless wolves. I really did not enjoy this. Sep 28, Christine Lacombe rated it it was amazing. You don't really need to read book 1 to understand this book, but if you want to know where they are coming from in their actions, then yes please do read it.
I am a beta reader for Michelle on this book. Jackson and Chloe are starting their new life as mates, but with her being a null, or so she thought, she has a lot to learn to be in a pack. This book deals with her journey to be accepted as pack and her and Jackson learning to love each other.
A couple of women in his past are out to destroy her, and their relationship. There were times I cried, and times that I laughed and I so loved their romance and their sex scene. I am glad Michelle wrote this sequel, it was good to know what happened after he brought her wolf and they mated.
I loved the story and it was good to know that the current Alpha supports Jackson and Chloe's mating. So, please read book 1 and when this one comes out, get it too. You will be glad you did. Jan 15, Claudia rated it it was ok Shelves: The Alpha's Mate was supposed to be the main course of the series but for me ended up being more an appetizer.
Chloe was now the "to be Alpha bitch" and she was struggling with her new life: There is not much that I can say about Jackson because the book didn't really reveal him.
The only thing that he was good at was to solve all Chloe's concerns through sex. The explanation of why he had to go through the whole pack of females to eventually mate Chloe didn't really convince me or for that matter Chloe. His lack of understanding or reaction towards everything that impacted Chloe was in contrast with his declaration of ownership on her. All drama was provided by Jackson's exes and wanna be mates who wanted, needed Chloe dead to get to him.
And all Jackson had to do was to provide sexy times and couple of growls "Mine" instead of support. This could have been an interesting story but if fell flat with the delivery. In the end I am happy the story was a short appetizer because honestly I wouldn't have been able to go through the whole main course.
Dec 06, Kimberly Walter rated it it was amazing. Chloe and Jackson's relationship is so new, its fragile. Many are determined to tear it down especially the women of the pack. But Chloe refuses to give in, she fights with everything in her and wont back down. She shows them all how strong she is, because she is the Alpha's mate and she is staying for good. I really liked this book. I could hardly put it down. Dec 07, Amy rated it really liked it. This is a great read.
Chloe was thought to be a null until Jackson mated her and brought her wolf out. Still plagued by nay sayers Chloe fights her insecurities as well as some of Jacksons previous lovers. Fast paced with a great mystery and lots of HOT Alpha to keep you totally captivated. Oct 31, Jess F.
From Me to You Book Reviews rated it liked it. I liked this unique take on werewolf romance, it was suspenseful and entertaining. Jun 21, Kelly rated it it was amazing Shelves: Finding out how the former null and her hunky mate were faring since she found her wolf and shifted was high on my list of things I wanted to read. Not going to lie, I like where this book went. Chloe might be a full werewolf who's mated to the future Alpha, but she's hardly comfortable in her skin yet.
Never having been a full member of the pack, she doesn't know how to act or how to assert herself with th When I heard there was a follow-up book to the super sexy Make Her Howl, I was all excited! Never having been a full member of the pack, she doesn't know how to act or how to assert herself with the eyes of everyone on her. Frankly, Jackson doesn't give her a lot of backup in the beginning. They might be dynamite between the sheets, but they know next to nothing about one another outside the bedroom. He brushes off her valid concerns about the way she's being challenged and doesn't see the potential for disaster in allowing the pack to continue to treat Chloe like she's not quite one of them.
Chloe is full of doubt about herself and her wolf. Being a non-entity for so long leaves her floundering when she and Jackson are suddenly the center of attention. Women who had ignored her before now actively hate her for mating the future Alpha. It's not a fun place to be and Chloe deals with it as best she can.
Throw in a rogue Alpha and a wolf from Jackson's old pack who doesn't know the definition of personal space and things get rough. Yeah, I'm totally loving this book. I liked that everything wasn't perfect between Chloe and Jackson just because they were mated and that Chloe really did find her inner strength and come into her own.
Also, the sex was smokin'. Sep 29, texxie-PRUFreads. Originally reviewed at http: I often struggle with first person because of the I this and I that's. Jackson came off as very mechanical to me and I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that I, the reader, never got a chance to step inside his head.
That's about all I got from him making for a very slow start. It wasn't until about half way through that the storyline picked up and his character showcased some actual personality. There is a kitchen scene between the two that added some much needed romance. The banter was light yet intimate and playful. I only wish there had been a bit more of that. I needed to be sold on the pairing and I never quite got there. I liked the plot of the book, the mystery of the who and why, and how it all came together.
There were a couple of clever plot points that helped balance out the obvious ones and some interesting supporting characters. Chloe isn't a weak heroine, and while I didn't quite connect with her either, she kicked ass when she needed to. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this story. Although it's a sequel of To Bring Her Wolf , you don't have to read the 1st book to understand the story. This book is a quick read but not lacking. No boring moment because it's fast-paced. I'm partial to strong heroines and this story is about an alpha's mate trying to prove her strength and worth to the pack.
She's kind-hearted and brave. Although a bit insecure, she can hold her I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. But she's trying hard to change her life, to stop using drugs, to be a good guest of the Huntsville Pack and not think too much about the vampire who got under her skin in a way drugs never did.
