Banned Books Week, Day 2: When Angelina arrives, Strega Nona and her friends find that she is quite a handful: I have to say, while I have enjoyed the Strega Nona books in the past, I did not like this one. Angelina is spoiled and impolite, so Strega Nona decides to teach her a lesson by… giving her exactly what she wants?
Rewarding her for her egocentric behavior? From a practical standpoint, the book was also a bit long for JJ, and she started getting squirmy though, again, she loved the illustrations. However, I would definitely encourage readers to check out the previous Strega Nona stories, which are fun and have much better lessons. Be sure to check out The Baby Bookworm for more reviews! Strega Nona has a cousins daughter whose name is Angelina. She is very spoiled and comes to visit her. While she is visiting her everyone starts to dislike her because she holds herself higher than others. Annoying everyone Nona gives her niece a potion that makes her fall in love with a guy and they end up getting married. Then the niece finally leaves and everyone is happy.
Personal Reaction - This was a good book although I would have to admit I had to reread to understand what Nona was doing to her cousins daughter. This story was different than the rest of the other stories that I had read. It had a little bit of diversity to add to it, the Italian language was added to some sayings and then translated to English. The illustration was really pretty and helped demonstrate what was going especially Nona's cousins daughter would ask people to do stuff for her. Instead of saying all the things they did it was just shown and you could tell by pictures instead of reading.
The illustration was also very vibrant and pretty. It would grab peoples attention. Read aloud to K-2 children for several potential purpose: This is good fantasy story telling them that it's a "happy ever after" story. The 2 main characters Angelina cousins daughter is the one who is a flat character, she views herself higher than others and believes she deserves the best. While Nona on the other side is a flat character as well she is happy and excited for Angelina coming over. She even finds a way to get rid of Angelina.

Not BAD, just not Basically, something I'd read for free as I did, with a library copy , but not something I'd buy, even as a gift. Strega Nona's niece, Angelina, comes to visit or, more accurately, is foisted off on her aunt by her parents, who are sick of her.
It was very tricky, and it was awesome!! However, I would definitely encourage readers to check out the previous Strega Nona stories, which are fun and have much better lessons. Whose Eye Am I? Banned Books Week, Day 2: Inspired by Your Browsing History. I have always been a fan of Strega Nona books. Feb 26, Aryana Ahmad rated it really liked it Shelves:
Angelina gets right into the task of annoying Stega Nona's household, as well, demanding she be treated like royalty. Rather than Strega Nona proceeding to te My third Strega Nona book, and it's at the bottom, in my opinion. Rather than Strega Nona proceeding to teach her a lesson, as she does regularly with Big Anthony, she instead invites the girl's love interest over and has them fall in vapid self-love with each other it makes sense in the story.
While Stega Nona does clear her house of a nuisance, nothing really positive is done. It's meant to just be silly, and for that, it's fine. But maybe pass on this if you're more concerned with the underlying messages in the stories you read to your kids. Nov 05, Melanie rated it liked it Shelves: Strega Nona is asked by a cousin to take his daughter for awhile. She is attracting far too much male attention except from the one person she truly wants it from.
When Angelina arrives at Strega Nona's house she takes over. She makes Bambolona her maid and Big Anthony her footman! She redecorates the room she is given and is generally bossy and unpleasant. But Strega Nona knows how to take care of self-involved people. She has a plan Strega Nona lovers will enjoy this story. However wonderful Strega Nona is asked by a cousin to take his daughter for awhile. However wonderful de Paola's illustrations are they are sometimes confusing and don't tell the story well.
Not recommended for storytime as much of the story is told in pictures.
