I thought it would be about the s, but it's actually a scientific investigation into these three areas. The drugs part has plenty of '60s--the most amazing thing to me is that researchers are just starting to find brain benefits from LSD, after Timothy Leary and other crazed gurus of the '60s made it an outlaw drug.
Nixon called Leary "the most dangerous man in America. This book is full of amazing little facts and stories--such as the Beatles helping to fund research on MRIs when they made so much money for EMI that the company could afford to fund scientific research. It's a totally absorbing and surprising book. I had no idea I would like it, but it was great, well-told, very funny, and thoroughly researched. Jan 17, Anna rated it really liked it. Clever, sexy, and scientifically fascinating. It's been a long time since I opened my psychology textbooks, but Cormier makes me want to go back and take those classes all over again.
Some sections in here outshine others - rock and roll is kind of dull, sadly, and the book ends on this section; the sex and drug portions, on the other hand, sing. I've taken the psychology of sex as a university class, and there were even some facts in this book that I hadn't learned before.
Grab it Clever, sexy, and scientifically fascinating. Grab it for a read if you like rogue science. Dec 08, Dean Edwards rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed reading this. It's informative, intelligent and interesting.
It even has jokes. There's a brief and brilliant explanation of what is meant by epigenetics that was like having someone push a fast forward button on science knowledge.
I thought I was about to get lost, but the author said: A very enjoyable read. Jul 06, Jen rated it it was ok. I really, really, really tried to like this book. As in, I kept picking it up every other day to see if I could change my mind about it. Unfortunately it never really got my attention, although the title would have led me to believe otherwise. Something about the writing seemed too forced, in my opinion.
I really enjoyed reading this book on the science behind sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. I highly recommend it.
It's accessible, easy to understand and fun to read. There's a lot of really interesting facts hidden in this book. You will not regret it. May 12, Kirsty rated it really liked it.

After the gig, the group sits in the limo where Flash and Ira attempt to drive Johnny out of "Team Assassins", but they are overruled in a power play by Gigi, leaving Flash shocked as he realizes that Gigi has just out-maneuvered him.
Johnny's mother Elizabeth Kelly Bishop , who has long insisted she would have won the lead role in Mary Poppins over Julie Andrews if she hadn't become pregnant with Johnny, guilt-trips him into having the band play at her wedding to Jeremy Roger Bart , the gay producer of her upcoming off-Broadway musical. The band agrees to play at the wedding, as well as indulge Elizabeth's wish for a s theme.
As the band starts to play, however, Elizabeth tries to upstage them by singing songs from her own show.
The bad news is they only want Gigi and not the band, which means the end of the Assassins. Johnny, Flash and Ava are initially seduced by the trappings of fame and fortune, while Gigi is forced to wear skimpy outfits for her first video, which is a remake of the Assassins song "What's My Name" in a hip-hop style. During the taping sessions for the video, the producer tells Gigi that she will have to learn dance moves and lip sync all her concerts, causing her and Johnny to pull the plug.
Gigi breaks up with Flash, and contacts Greg Dulli, a producer whom Johnny hates. The rep sent by Dulli, a man named J. Rob Morrow , wants to record some songs, forcing Johnny and Flash to meet with Bam Bam and Rehab about rejoining the band.

Gigi, Johnny, Bam Bam and Rehab start watching the tape first and, right when the tape gets to a part with Ava and Flash performing together in Nashville that includes a passionate onstage kiss, Ava and Flash walk into the room.
